Brent Morel becoming Crede-esque
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) he's a solid player, and love that the left side of the IF is so strong defensively. Now, it might have been an blip since I don't watch a ton of Red Sox games, but seeing Youk at 3b during that series was painful, there were balls that I thought would have been a step above a routine play getting into RF, I'm glad Morel has good range, sure hands and takes away a decent amount of hits. UZR thinks that Youkilis has been slightly below average so far this year and I think most red sox viewers seem to agree, they miss having Beltre out there defensively...but I think their biggest concern is actually keeping Youkilis healthy. They can't exactly move him back to 1b now, and they still have Ortiz at DH for this season.

Brent Morel becoming Crede-esque
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) Joe Randa v. 2.0 10 years of a nearly .800 or .800+ OPS, with the defense he's already playing? Yeah, I could totally live with that.

2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) http://www.csnbayarea.com/06/03/11/Giants-...amp;feedID=2796 This is an explanation/excuse and not much of an apology. Kinda surprised Sabean wasn't required to release his own statement or get fined. They probably asked him to apologize, but not with a threat of firing attached.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) Might be a good time to recall Teahen, if PK isn't ready to go. They'd be a little shorthanded on the bench. They kept the extra arm in the pen since Crain has been unavailable for a few days. If JC can go tonight, they might make the move, if JC needs another day, then Marquez is staying for another day.

Brent Morel becoming Crede-esque
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) They showed his three plays on BBTN and he was being praised. He does look good in the field and when you keep the other team from scoring with the glove then it makes up a lot for a lack of hitting. But, I think that will come around. I like the way he goes to right and right center a lot and doesn't try to be the big bopper He nailed all 3 of his hits last night.

2011 Pre-Draft thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) Not with the starting pitching depth we have in the minors. We need legitimate SP prospects that in a absolute worst case scenario don't pan out and you have to relegate them to the bullpen. We're not getting an MLB ready starter in the sandwich round. Unless you like the Lance Broadway/Kyle McCullough type "Safe" picks. If you get an MLB level player in the sandwich round, you're happy. If a closer is there that you value highly, you take that closer. Don't stretch just to get a starter in this spot.

MLB's Financial Problems
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) The Cubs are a whole other kind of mess right now. You know that. But they have a lot more money coming off the books too.

Can you supply an example?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) A closer? No thanks. I have no problem drafting in the mid-sandwich-round and walking away with a Closer.

MLB's Financial Problems
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) The Cubs on there means no Poo-Holes for them. Being on that list didn't stop the Phillies from signing Lee did it?

Financial News
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:57 AM) so this government has more money tied up in it then any other time in our history, and everything's getting so much better....................................... If you factor in inflation I'm pretty sure that's not remotely true.

Contemplating Roster Moves
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) We should be seeing Teahen for Marquez anytime now. Pretty clear from how the 8th inning went that they're not ready to use Crain unless they absolutely need to tonight, with that bruise, so that must be why Marquez is still here.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 11:05 PM) Maybe, but he's been OK of late and Sale can't do it every night. Plus Sale was as bad as Matt at one point this season. Well not quite as bad as Matt but he wasn't automatic until recently. I think it's a bit different, but I recognize your point. Honestly after the 2nd hit I wish Marquez could have faced the third righty, and I'd have taken Ohman against the lefty over Matt there.

Konerko has minor wrist surgery
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) yes, it's minimally invasive with just a small incision. He'll feel better without the grinding or block in his wrist movement. they aren't cutting anything, just removing something that is already loose. Technically don't they at least have to cut skin?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) Matt Thornton is a high paid player on this team. You use him. Case closed IMO Werent you and I agreeing earlier about benchin Dunn against lhp because of how ineffective he's been? Isn't that the same thing?
