2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) He would be someone you would have to sub out for defensive purposes at times, but at least he can generate offense. Almost everyone we'd be considering would require us to have someone like Bogans/Brewer left over as a defensive sub. Hell, with Rose on the team, we'd want that anyway. Of course, if we're looking at how the **** we get past the Heat...this really is the critical flaw, because you can't go for offense and wind up with Wade torching you.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) Exactly. I think we have a replacement for Noah. Deng, no way. Let me say it this way...we don't have a replacement for the Healthy, pre-injury Noah we saw in Nov/Dec. We didn't have a replacement for him all season, but we never saw that guy again once he got hurt.

I'd just hate to give up Noah/Deng for any of the names being tossed around that aren't Dwight Howard.

Tests starting to show that Corexit, BP's favorite dispersant last year, does not cause an increase in the breakdown rate of oil, and that the mixture of Corexit and oil is actually worse for biology than the undispersed oil alone.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) That part I don't disagree with. However, I see plenty of reasons why his struggles there could go away and in this instance, given the current state of the CBA there is no harm from us as a fans perspective in making this trade. Gordon has a high probability of being far better than Korver (imo) and we get the #8 pick for two lower 1sts and end up with Bogans back anyway. I just don't see how you could have a problem with this hypothetical deal. Doesn't really impact our cap status other than Jerry would have to pay some luxury tax (again, this is all under the current salary arrangement). Also worth noting is that even after trading for BG7 and the 8th pick, under the current system, the Bulls would still have the MLE and veterans exemptions available to go after additional depth. Presumably however, most of that is going to change.

Missouri River flooding
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 31, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) Both the Garrison and Oahe Dams are supposed to be monitoring flood control as well as electrical output. I don't know if that's the answer you're looking for, but that's what I got. Apparently they're now opening the Garrison dam for the first time in its 57 year history

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) Are you guys serious? Kyle Korver isn't even close to the player Ben Gordon has been the majority of his career. The problem is that Ben Gordon with the Pistons has been less effective than Kyle Korver has been the last 2 years.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) The 2009 Ben Gordon isn't much better than the 2010 Kyle Korver. Kyle Korver could never, ever, ever have done that to the Celtics.

Republican 2012 Nomination Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:35 PM) It has? Didn't they have a massive budget deficit (partly due to tax cuts!) that was "fixed" by massive cuts in spending, including education, and shuffling the numbers in the books? Texas's unemployment is just under 8%, well under the national level. Texas was barely touched by the housing bubble, because Texas's state government had some of the nation's strongest regulations for banks giving out mortgages (process that for a second). Also, Texas does still produce a substantial amount of energy resources and is home to many energy companies, and they've been doing quite nicely for themselves.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) You're operating under the assumption that he's even the same player he was last he was here. He's been awful as a Piston. Is that coaching, system, bad teammates? Who knows. But at that price, you want somebody that can put you over the top. And that's just not Ben Gordon. The 2009 Ben Gordon could still have a shot at legitimately putting this team over the top. The question is probability.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) I said the exact same thing but just deleted it after realizing the Bulls have no cap space and would need to trade to acquire someone. Do we genuinely think that Crawford will get an offer bigger than a couple of seasons at the Mid-Level Exemption this offseason? Under the current cap rules, he'd be a reasonable pickup as well.

Lilly flower
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 08:36 AM) I'm sad to admit I agree with you. I don't think it is any coincidence that Lilli's best streaks have come while platooning. I think he is going to be a very solid 4th OF/5th IF type of player, but not so much if he starts. It's worth pointing out that the Stealth Elf hasn't put up extreme platoon splits this year. 1.141 OPS against RHP, .930 OPS against LHP, 3 HR against RHP, 3 HR against LHP.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) Their percentages are all pretty close, except Gordon shoots A LOT more. I don't know if that makes him "better" or not. Kyle Korver's problem isn't the percentage right now...it's defense, ball handling, and that obscene, season-destroying slump.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) I'm more interested in the #8 pick than Gordon. If he could revert back to his Bulls form he'd be fine, but I am not sure that player is there anymore. (Again, under the current cap rules) he wouldn't need to revert back to his old form...he'd just need to be better than Kyle Korver.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 10:37 PM) The argument is from a few days ago, but why's it so disputable that the 2010 Bulls were a better defensive team than the 2010 Heat? And yes, in the playoffs? They were. That the Bulls lost to the Heat is irrelevant. The Bulls defense doesn't play the Heat's defense. The Bulls were better defensively in the regular season. If the Heat played the defense they're currently playing for the entire regular season, they'd have been the better defensive team.
