  1. If you really think Andruw Jones can stay healthy as an everyday player, you weren't watching him last season. That's about all I can say about that.
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) You don't think Jones can handle a full season in RF? Why? He has been an extremely durable player over his career and is 33 right now. I think he is fully capable of 150+ games in RF. He has been anything but extremely durable for the last 3+ years, and both the Rangers and Sox saw exactly how durable Jones is early in the season last year. Jones got off to a hot streak both years. In 2009, the Rangers were playing him every day through April, and he pulled a muscle at the end of the month that dogged him the entire year. In 2010, the White Sox started playing him every day at the end of April, and within about a week and a half he missed 5+ games with back spasms.
  3. This issue fits into the category of "an issue that a lot of people care slightly about but not enough to make it a priority...while a small number of people care a whole lot and will spend whatever it takes to make sure that it never becomes a priority".
  4. Kiss you digestive tract goodbye.
  5. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) That wasn't what I meant to do... All I was saying was, if the Sox trade Quentin for a bullpen arm, signing someone like Jones to fill in isn't a bad option. And if the Sox trade Quentin, they need someone other than Jones to be a platoon partner with him, because he just can't handle the full season.
  6. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) I was wondering about that too. They already have a bunch of OFers. What happens to Juan Rivera, Bobby Abreau, Reggie Willits, Toriiiiii Hunter and Bonjouros... Trade em all? Abreu really doesn't belong anyhwere but DH. Reggie Willits put up a .643 OPS last year, he's basically a backup. For a good portion of last year, including when they were playing the Sox, they had both Hideki Matsui and Bobby Abreu playing corner OF spots because they had no other option.
  7. Nice work there glossing over the stats. Teahen played 10 games there in 2010. Most everyone knows that UZR doesn't work well over short time periods, and is even better with multiple years, not 10 games. If I do a little more looking, during the 32 games Teahen played in RF in 2009...he put up a -39.7 UZR. That means UZR thinks he was literally worth -1.2 runs per game in RF in 2009. That would be a -180 UZR over 162 games if that's how it worked. UZR thinks he wasn't awful in RF in 2007, that's why his career number isn't terrible.
  8. I'm going to go do something involving a bean burrito.
  9. Senator Sanders has been staging a mock-filibuster against the tax deal today. Supposedly he's been talking for about 4 hours so far.
  10. Fascinating metaphor, "eating a bean burrito".
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Considering he was referring to his penis that's a bit odd. Don't you think that 11 herbs and spices would help?
  12. Crap. This again?
  13. Balta is now drooling over your pets...
  14. Zoo animals are typically tasty.
  15. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Why not? Sox don't need a 300/30/100 guy in RF anymore. They've got enough offense. Now they need PLUS RF defense and offense at replacement level. Andruw Jones for 75 games and Mark Teahen for 85 games is well below replacement level defense.
  16. Xtra Tasty Crispy.
  17. Really quiet. Because mouth is full of chicken.
  18. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) If you traded Quentin couldn't you replace him with Andruw Jones? Jones had a higher WAR than Quentin in 2010. Really, no you couldn't. Jones can't handle being an every day player. He's proven that the last 2 years; you play him every day and within a week something will get sprained or start acting up.
  19. Perhaps you should just be content with the chicken.
  20. No one's putting out that much effort.
  21. Wow, Y2HH just wrote a long post that I generally agree with.
  22. Let's remember that civil in this thread may not be considered civil everywhere else.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) Well what the heck did you think Crawford was going to sign for? I dunno, but I think somewhere closer to Anaheim's offer might have been where he'd wound up if Werth had wound up at 7/$90.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) They might be using the "faking" of the lunar landing in some way. Great, just what I want, another conspiracy-theory feeding movie.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) The answer is, because it does stimulate the economy. Both of them do, at an equal rate, because the money is going to the same spenders. At worst the argument goes to "not letting things get worse" which is exactly what would happen if you took lots of money away from the group of people in this country who do most of the hiring. Of course...there is a difference between "Taking money away" from the people who do most of the hiring and "having the people who do most of the hiring earn less".
