  1. That stadium F***ing deserved it.
  2. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) Actually COBRA IS health care. Well technically, it stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. So technically, it's anything passed through reconciliation as part of the common omnibus spending bill technique that funds the majority of the government every year because that's the only way to get a spending bill through Congress is to lump everyhting together. In common parlance, yes, it is health care, because the original COBRA bill which allowed you to continue to pay for your group health care after leaving your job was passed as part of one of those bills.
  3. Bill Gates. Because he's the only one with the money to back up anything, and money is all that counts.
  4. Very little respect should be given to anyone who posts in here.

    That place deserved it.
  6. I think that White Sox fans probably enjoy this video.
  7. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Ok, so to further clarify the fifth year option on that contract that would vest if Buehrle was trades was voided once he achieved 10-5 status. However...since he is a 10/5 player...I'd say it's almost guaranteed that he'd ask for something, either an escalator picked up or an option year picked up, etc., in exchange for waiving his 10/5 rights.
  8. I like how the Post puts it.
  9. NIce to see no letup after the game last night.
  10. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) I don't get the Kerry Wood love from some around here. He has a good couple months in New York and all of a sudden he's worth a ton of money. Forget the last two years in Cleveland where he was pretty damn bad. I think the Kerry Wood love comes from the fact that people are thinking he'd cost about as much as Putz this year.
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) I would argue you're flat out wrong... I know what you're trying to say (bailouts)... and on that these 2b2f companies should be on their ass, I won't disagree. However, the "price" for a lot of that is government control, which is not a good deal for all of us long term. Not just that, but the other side is...corporate profits are at record highs as well, from industry to industry.
  12. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) Can't he get a longer, lighter bat and have the same effect while improving his leverage? I don't know bat regulations. The problem is...if he's already got a fairly quick bat, a lighter bat will translate to less power. Juan Pierre with less power. Think about that for a momen.
  13. Btw...the Bulls have had the toughest schedule in the NBA so far. And they're 10-4 against the Western conference so far.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) I've learned most of time that has to do with referee rotation more than anything. So...if a person happened to know the referee rotation in advance...
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) I'm guessing you will be the happiest Sox fan on the planet once Juan Pierre's White Sox tour of duty is over. Until Jordan Danks takes over LF and leadoff the next year.
  16. Or perhaps it's not an addiction, just something I enjoy.
  17. Whether or not what the Republicans are doing is different...one thing that is different is the fact that the media doesn't think it's worth reporting now, whereas the couple of Judicial Filibusters the Democrats were doing in 2005 was treated as a "Constitutional Crisis".
  18. Maybe I should resist more...but the sweetest of all meats...just calls to you...
  19. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) Yep, heck they have bets on who scores the first bucket, who creates the first turnover, and who's likely to make a 3 pointer first. But none of those could be controlled by a ref.
  20. Keep trying to eat humans. THey never let you.
  21. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Yah, I agree. Based on the few times I saw him, his swing and eye looked good enough to succeed in MLB. And, unlike most of our upcoming prospects in recent years, all we're asking of him is good defense. He's replacing Teahen, unlike Anderson replacing Rowand, so I think the pressure's off and he can play a lot looser than the guys we've called up recently. Call it instinct, but I really like his chances of flashing some offense to go with that glove. The one thing I can't speak about is whether or not he'll get into funks like Beckham where his head isn't right and his mechanics go to he**. But, IIRC, at both levels he was jumped to last year, he struggled for the first week or two, and then spent the rest of his time hitting everything in sight.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 01:47 AM) Neyland Stadium is the 3rd largest football stadium in the country. How many college basketball arenas can seat over 21, 500? Those stats are pretty much given due to their facilities. Which came first, the stadia or the fanbases?

  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) I loved the win over LA last night, great defense (outside of the first few minutes of the games). Rose was a beast, tell me what was more impressive, that crazy off-balance three in front of LA's bench, or that windmill s*** he did in the paint. But it'd be nice if this team could actually play 4 complete quarters against a quality team for once. I feel like that day is imminent, but damn, any time they'd like to do it would be fine by me. Every time I have a conversation about basketball with my dad, he points out that a lot of casinos outside of the U.S. allow for betting on who's going to win each quarter of a game, not just the whole game. When I see 2 completely different quarters like last night, back to back like that, I just can't help but think about htat.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) All indications so far are that it's Morel's job to lose. The org like him a lot. As long as we don't have another .220 hitter batting 8th for the full year (I'm looking at you, Teahen), this lineup is good enough that we can tolerate him struggling with the bats for a year if that's what happens. I don't think it will, based on his performance last year, kid is going to rake and sooner than you think. But especially if Beckham doesn't stink, having a weak 9th place hitter that we're working into the league isn't a bad option.
