  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) I don't think we'd be overextended in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Mexico. THat's the single most bizarre hyperlink I've ever seen posted here.
  2. Now sitting through an hour long talk on peat bogs, that's an ordeal.
  3. Very good work.
  4. Pardon my french, but that's not french.
  5. Plus, if they demolished the old one before it collapsed on its own, they'd infuriate their fan base, while if they wait for it to collapse on its own, they're in trouble that way too.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) They have a waiting list for season tickets that is on par with the total number of actual holders. They'd be down a year, probably. I don't see that making a gigantic dent in their base. If they came out and were winners for 10-ish years right after opening a new park, sure. But I think there'd be such a huge strain of "I'm there for the ballpark and the experience" rather than "Im there for the baseball" that would be lost
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 09:47 AM) Wouldn't that violate a bunch of laws? When has that ever stopped "investors"?
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) the Cubs know damn well they need Wrigley to continue doing what they do. Even if they tear it down, they'd just rebuild an almost identical stadium in the same place (but with better bathrooms, walkways, etc.). They'd play a year someplace else, probably multiple other fields, mostly The Cell. Even if they did that, they'd murder their ticket base in the down years.
  9. Really, only if he's a bargain. And I think we know how this game played last year.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) Thanks, hadn't really heard of them before. Sounds like the D-backs may be taking the whole "experience from a winning team" angle a bit too far. Either that...or they want depth at their 1b position because they're planning on going with the kid there (aka brandon allen).
  11. Kids are the future. We are the present.
  12. FU panda!
  13. Don't try to break into the national zoo to eat their pandas. It doesn't go over too well.
  14. Barbeque panda.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) Korver, Watson, Rose, Deng (small sample size this year) are all better FT shooter than Noah. Noah is a career 70.7 percent FT shooter. Noah's probably my favorite player on the Bulls, and loved the pick when he was drafted, but he should be the last resort in that situation and just made the observation that it seems like we're not efficient enough with our inbounds plays (a common theme in some of the Bulls games this year). I love when people quote career numbers when there's clearly a trend of improving performance as a guy's career has gone on. It works about as well as Bill Gates and I sitting in a room and me declaring "on average, everyone in here is a multi-billionaire!"
  16. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) Yes. I want to see you hire a few non-union plumbers or electricians and get back to me.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 10:01 AM) Thought I'd see a lot more discussion of GM's IPO in here. Go back a page or two, we already had that fight.
  18. Zoo animals and arson can be a delicious combination.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) Has that been said at all recently? I know that was his knock as a rookie with the Sox but has that changed? I feel like the same thing was talked about when he was in KC.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 11:14 AM) I would argue the opposite. Ozzie played him perfectly. He rode him while he was hot, benched him when he was cold, and used him around the OF to give guys days off when they needed them. Jones didn't cool when he hit the bench, he hit the bench when he cooled off. Teams figured him out, and Andruw didn't adjust. The other thing worth noting is that when Ozzie played him every day while he was hot early in the season, he started getting hurt. Back spasms, IIRC. Use him more than you did, and he's likely a DL trip.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) Yet still not who should be shooting your team's FTs at the end of the game IF you can avoid it. On the other hand, Brewer looks much better now than he did a few weeks ago. On the other hand, if you can get the ball to Noah anywhere close to the hoop and the other team is going to foul, you've got a legitimate shot at a 3 point play. I have zero problem with the ball winding up in Noah's hands down the stretch. I wouldn't run an isolation/post-up play based solely on getting the ball to Noah, but I hate the late game Iso plays anyway.
  22. I have a sudden urge to nuke the world.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) You're using just Brewer and Asik to compare overall talent levels? Really? Frankly, the way Brewer and Asik played in the 2nd quarter does say something about the Bulls' overall talent level. The team wore down at the end against a fresher team at home, which happens sometimes, but the fact that the 2nd unit has made big runs 2 nights in a row is a real good sign.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 12:02 AM) Noah has been just fine at the ft line the last few years. Obviously he shouldn't be the first choice to get the ball in those situations but it's certainly not the end of the world if you do. He shot 74% last year and is shooting 72% so far this year. For a big man, that's reasonably solid.
  25. Goshen might be worth saving too.
