  1. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) Yep, yet another reason why GWB is at fault for absolutely everything bad that has ever happened on the planet earth. Barackus (g-d) knows better. At least we know you think it's a great idea for billions in your tax dollars to go to oil companies.

I thought this had something to do with the running thread.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Bryan Cranston takes it home again. I usually hate repetitive winners in anything, but I really like this scenario. The Daily Show should not have won this year. That should have gone to Conan.
  4. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) Nice... we need him. This has gotta be a real kick in the nuts to Thome, Dye, considering Sox could of had them all year for fraction of Manny's price for one month. Jermaine Dye didn't want to DH. We still need to keep saying that. The Nats offered him about that much money to play OF too and he turned that down. Some guys don't want to take the pay cut.
  5. OH COME ON.
  6. Wow, they point out that there are a lot more hate crimes against Jews than against Muslims...but they don't point out that there are 3+ times the number of Jews in the country than there are Muslims? I mean, it doesn't completely make up the per capita difference, but that's face-slappingly sloppy.
  7. Even though they can create another 40 man spot by doing the 60 day DL with someone, they probably won't want to do that because it'd be a guy they'd have to remove next year when Peavy gets back.
  8. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Math fail bro Wow, yeah, that was pretty rough wasn't it.
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) http://www.sacbee.com/2010/08/27/2989095/f...l#ixzz0xyRziZom Gonna be carefull how much I paste here, since McClatchy seems to like suing blogs that paste too much stuff of their. and I promise I didn't do this. Edit; or this. And I just read this. I have an alibi. I'm home watching the Emmy's.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) 8000 tickets covers 4 million +? $40 a ticket, on average. 10,000 people. = $4 million. Concessions, parking etc on top of that. And a single playoff game...with nearly 40k paying $50 a ticket and also guaranteeing season ticket sales for next year... It doesn't take much in terms of publicity to cover $4 million.
  11. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) People can change. Was he awful with LAD? He was a d-bag and a juicer. He also wasn't a hard worker on the field, and he's been hurt all year. That said...dude still can hit.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) I bet they aren't quiverring either. $4 million would have been much better spent in the offseason. This team is better off financially than we think. We need something like 500 ticket sales per game the rest of the season, or perhaps even less, to cover for Manram's salary.
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) Or how about why do they suck against EVERY pitcher called up that hasn't done crap at this level...UNTIL they face the Sox. For the love of God...I honestly don't understand this at all. WTF?!? I'm not going to say this every game, but today, the kid was firing legit stuff up there. He made very few mistakes.
  14. Following on the discussion we had in the Republican thread, Frank Rich has an NYT column on the big money behind the Tea Party. I like the Soros part...since that's exactly the tack they took over in that thread.
  15. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) I wonder if the CBC will cry racism on this one as well. It really is remarkable how many members of the CBC are going down.
  16. Wood getting squeezed a bit on that inside corner...
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) Not me. There were plenty of games against the Royals and O's and Indians that cost us this season as well as the faceplants vs. the Twinks. There are losses...and then there are heartbreakers.
  18. Come on Teahen, this is the kind of guy you ought to handle.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Do you guys think today is the season? If we win, we in it; if we lose we gawn? No. The chances of winning the division were low coming in to today, the chances if we lose might be slightly lower, but it's not a giant change. Reality...you're going to look at 2 games at the end of the season if the Twins win the division and say "That's where it turned". The Jenks/Twins debacle and the Thome/Twins debacle.
  20. Wow, I'm in the wrong thread aren't I.
  21. Nice swing Juan, nice running Becksy, that's 1.
  22. Becksy the only one regularly hitting the ball hard today.
  23. Jermaine Dye said he wants to play in 2011.
