  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) Does Steve Stone need to call out Ozzie for not starting Dayan?? It worked with Lou Stone's even been defending Kotsay as hitting lots of balls hard. I assume he's got to be talking about batting practice or something like that.
  2. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) and i told you BP owns Obama. Obama is basically a BP employee. He has accepted the most bribe money by far. So, will you therefore pledge to stop voting for people who have accepted huge sums of money from dirty energy companies?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Why the f*** did Cust not make a team this year out of spring training? Hard to believe nobody wanted him. His numbers have been plummetting the last few years. Frankly, the minor league demotion probably refocused him. Might have pushed him back to the weight room, etc.
  4. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) haha. did you really think they were going to put 20 billion in there? a few million in bribes to congress will get them off the hook. much more cost effective. But Kap told me Obama was going to kill them all and was evil, and BP was going to be happy to make restitution and could be totally trusted.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) So for rest of year Balta, who puts up better numbers: Rolen or Aramis? Aramis's career numbers averages right around a .900 OPS if he's healthy. Rolen's put up a .900 OPS all year. Rolen's probably going to be back in a couple days. The injury risk is probably equal. I'd call tossup.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) Yeah, thats who I was referring too, although I guess he isn't on the roster now I assumed you meant Jenks.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) I would take the Cubs over the Cards and Reds going forward. If I assume that everyone is 3 years younger, sure. Today...not a chance in Hell. Why do you get to assume that the Cubs will be healthy and play like they're all 27 but Rolen won't heal?
  8. I think Kap ought to be celebrating this act of civil disobedience..
  9. WHY ARE PUTZ AND THORNTON WARMING?
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) A Scott Linebrink sighting!!!! At least he's only the 2nd most expensive mop-up reliever in Chicago Zambrano?
  11. Why is Linebrink out there and not Jenks?
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) This team has too many ex-Royals now Who?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:49 PM) With Lee and Ramirez coming out of their season-long slumps, they have the best lineup in the NL Central, IMO Have you taken the time to look at the Reds and Cardinals lineups? Esp. the Reds. The Reds and the Brewers are #1 and #2 in the NL in runs. The Cardinals are 7th. The Cubs are 4th out of 6 offenses in the NL Central. You're arguing that the Cubs should still have the best offense in the NL.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) I was referring to Vizquel playing over Viciedo. Oh. That I can't complain about at all. He's flat out earned the PT. Kotsay hasn't.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:45 PM) Jose Guillen? For the right price. Hell yeah. He's having a pretty good year. Can he play a competent RF? He hasn't played the OF for more than 20 games, and his numbers last year were significantly worse than Quentin's this year.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Lineup tomorrow predictions: Pierre, Ramirez, Rios, Konerko, Quentin, Jones, AJP, Viciedo, Beckham I assume there's a lefty on the mound.
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) Yup, redistribution of wealth is helping out everyone... whatever. I agree. The redistribution of wealth upwards that we've seen since 1980 was a key part of the economic collapse.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:31 PM) But Peavy's strong stretch helped this team go on a huge run that put them into first place. If this team goes back to playing .500 baseball or less like they were before the 30 game run, then they're in a lot of trouble. And his strong run was equally offset by his terrible run that helped the team pile up losses. Would you take 1 strong run and 1 weak run from Hudson? I would. That's my whole point.
  19. Anyway, it's fun to watch you to bash union contracts as so impossible to dissolve when they keep being broken and dissolved. And I still like your solution to the financial crisis...people should earn less. Damn those unions!
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) Thing is Peavy was just starting to hit his stride. I don't think it's as simple as Hudson keeping his era below 5. We got to 1st place with Peavy 7-6 and a 4.6 ERA. Sure, he could pitch above that level...but that's all he'd done on the season by the time we were in first place.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) Michael Jeffrey Jordan? Yeah, that was a stupid contract. And I liked TT.
  22. Is a freeze related to your spellunk of Driod?
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) I don't think many folks truly realize the impact of what losing Peavy for the year has created. It's about way more than him not being able to take the mound every 5th day. Big ass domino effect. I don't think we're going to be able to recover. At least for now...if Hudson can be the guy to take the mound every 5th day...all he has to do for me is do what Peavy has done so far thsi year. Near .500 record, ERA just below 5, gives you a chance to win some of the games he's in. If you trade him though...then that's a big ass domino effect. Of course, one of those dominoes is also not filling the DH role to start the year.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 06:23 PM) Well yeah. But he's like your messiah all of a sudden. I quoted him twice because I knew I'd read the article about 2 guys likely to be traded.
