  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle, Something That Ozzie Needs to Confront
  2. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) Are they only showing when Mark pitches? All I get is a background talking about Buerhle's game. That is correct, which is why some of us have Farmer/DJ on anyway.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) so does Farmer just not believe in jinxes? They've actually discussed this before, they always try to be coy about it, but when a person tunes in who hasn't been listening, they have to let them know what the stat line says. If you're in your car listening to the radio there's no stat line at the bottom every inning.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) For those of you who can't watch. MLB.com has a free live look-in at the game. Thanks
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) Since we have a 5 run lead, should we go to the bullpen now and give Mark's arm a rest? Mark's thrown 74 pitches. I think he's good through 8 today.
  6. Is it possible to think that yes, he's right and he might do well if he had a legit, long term shot where he was treated as the starter and had legit major work with a pitching coach...and he's also done absolutely nothing to deserve that shot and I can't figure out why any team out there would give it to him?
  7. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) Money aside, because we don't know who would cost what, but in my opinion Thome is showing some diminished skills while Dye is/has been in peak form for the last several years. If the game is on the line or we need a big hit I just don't have the confidence in Thome as I do with JD. I'd love to see Jimmy stick around, just not sure that he should do so at the cost of losing JD. Every time someone says Jim's bat speed is slowing down, or he's wearing out, skills diminishing, whatever, he seems to respond with something like last wee's 14 RBI's in 3 games burst. Jim is still just as streaky as always. When he's going bad he looks like he's slowing down, then 3 days later there's a ball bouncing off the scoreboard and you're wondering how the Hell you can hit a ball that hard off a wooden bat without some part of the equation vaporizing.
  8. The big issue is that to keep either of them, we have to sign them early, since the arbitration-offer deadline is around December 1. This means we have to meet their price pretty early.
  9. Bosh laughs during an interview when he's asked about coming to the knicks, is forced to walk back/deny he was laughing at the team.
  10. Link. Yeah, like you couldn't have predicted that.

  12. Houston and the Cubs are now tied at 1 game behind the Cardinals. Milwaukee is 2 back. The Cubs have played 2 fewer games than others so there's %age differences.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:12 AM) I don't recall saying that...
  14. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 06:04 PM) id love to get him, but one problem no?: scott boras Boras's guys will follow the money. Make him a fair offer and see if someone beats us. We have a potential opening for a corner OF and we have a lot more money to spend next offseason than most teams not named the Yankees. If the Yankees outbid us, fine, I promise I won't be mad.
  15. Atlanta should move him to someone in the race to grab a piece. Right now.
  16. Javy Vazquez is having a great year and he and ozzie were golfing together in like 2006 or whenever it was. I'm sure he'd fit in well. Seriously, outside of the bullpen, I'm not sure where we actually have room for anyone. We could put in another SP but it needs to be a major upgrade over the guys we have right now, and few people are moving those type of pitchers.
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 08:25 AM) Zimmerman's basically the 1 guy that's untouchable on that team. I don't expect them to be moving that Strasbourg kid any time soon either.
  18. One of either Thome or Dye should be re-upped for at least next year to DH for us. I can make an argument for either: JD is younger, and is putting up better all around numbers, and probably would put up slightly more power/RBI's next year. Can also play the OF a few times during interleague. Thome will give you the OBP, pure power, and is our biggest LH bat threat. He may also be cheaper, and a run at 600 home runs has to be good for advertising.
  19. You didn't spend the extra $5k to have Reinsdorf perform the ceremony?
