QUOTE (Cknolls @ May 20, 2009 -> 08:20 AM) http://vote.sos.ca.gov/returns/props/map1A.htm Even Pelosi's county voted against a tax increase. Will wonders never cease. Boy the pro refernda folks spent their 30+ million well, huh. A lot of bang for their buck. Are you actually in CA? Just curious how familiar you are with the state's government out here.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 20, 2009 -> 07:57 AM) If people wanted these damn cars, they would be selling now. If we made it so that the market priced in the negative externalities of their use, then no one would ever buy a car that got less than 40 MPG.

A solid finish by the Lakers. Melo and Bryant put on a scoring show.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) Will be interesting to see who turns out better between Beasley and Griffin. Similar athleticism, size, and age, but different games right now. Griffin can't shoot the ball to save his life right now, but knows he's a post player and has Amare Stoudemire type athleticism and tenacity. Beasley can't make up his mind about whether he's a tweener or not. He can shoot the ball well from anywhere, but can't guard most SF's in the league and doesn't have the mindset to stick in the post. Right now it seems Beasley's game mimic's Derrick Coleman's and Blake Griffin is following Amare's path. Beasley has a much, much, much better support system. At least for now.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) Should be an interesting draft for us. I expect us to revist Brett Basham and Christopher Cron in this draft who were former picks. I'm also sure we'll see some guys/projects with high eras in college taken in later rounds who either need a mechanic tweak, or to develop better their secondary pitches (like the Dominion boys, esp. D. Carter who was already bringing it with his 95+ gas but now has the command) Should be pretty interesting also to see half of soxtalk pissed at a pick. Unless Strasboug falls and we pass, are people really going to wind up all that pissed at anything? I mean, the stuff people keep saying is that this is a very deep draft but doesn't really have many people at the very top. That means that even if we reach for someone, he's going to be a guy with a reasonably good shot, and at the same time, we're not exactly going to be passing on anyone big because there aren't that many of them.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:25 PM) Seriously though... what have you told yourself to get yourself to get it together enough to lose the weight you've wanted to for awhile? A few things. 1. Intense stomach flu while in China was a good 10 pounds. I wouldn't recommend it. 2. Cut back on the size of your meals. The one that really worked for me was switching my lunch to a couple pieces of fruit. Try downing a full glass of water before dinner. Don't eat every second you feel hungry during the day...down a glass of tea or water or something like that. 3. The thing that really got me started on a workout program was falling behind everyone else on a field trip when I should have been able to keep up. Pissed me off. Started the gym routine that week, haven't stopped yet 2.5 years later, down over 50 pounds from the peak, added a ton of muscle.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:19 PM) So was Elton Brand. So is Baron Davis. So was Lamar Odom. So was Danny Manning. I see you're giving me the hard sell here. Somehow I'm just less than convinced. Where's the Candyman thread?

QUOTE (knightni @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Beasley is a good player as well. He just smelled NBA cash and came out too early. I am hoping that Griffin can do well at the next level. But, (Kansas players aside) many backcourt Big 12 guys seem to suffer from a lack of touch in the pros and take extra time to develop. And he's going to be a Clipper.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Blake Griffin is going to be a beast in the league. Dude, he's going to be a Clipper.

I learned over the weekend that if Ozzie submitted that exact lineup, we'd lose the DH and our pitcher would be hitting.

Kobe Bryant is now, according to this game's announcers, up to 5 technical fouls in this playoffs. A 1 game suspension happens after #7.

We're really lucky that this wasn't a series in the Metrodome after the Toronto series. -

Poor Blake Griffin. His career in the NBA is over before it even stars.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 19, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) Is it time to bench Josh Fields for Jason Nix?? Nix really doesn't belong at 3rd base, but a short stint might not hurt. -

QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 19, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) another example of how athletes are idiots: boston leads 2-1 in bottom of eighth. ellsbury gets a leadoff double. the meat of the lineup is coming up. ellsbury tries to steal 3rd with 0 out. he is out. WHAT A DUMBf***ER! if i was the manager he wouldnt play for at least a couple of games. Is Ortiz still hitting 3rd for them? Might have a better chance of scoring on a wild pitch than counting on him right now. -
