QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 19, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) I'll always doubt the lakers, I'm a born laker hater. Unless they're playing the Celtics or the Knicks...who I hate more. Plenty of reasons to doubt and/or hate them. I just have this feeling that they're getting the genuinely disrespected card on their side, and with the talent on their team, they're the ones you want being cocky if you hate them.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 19, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) Which means like I just said in the other thread, this means at least one DL trip. Don't worry, by then Wise will be close enough to ready that we can plug him in.

Eric Chavez is on the verge of requiring the spinal fusion surgery on his back that will effectively end his career.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) And who goes down to Charlotte? We all assume its Lillibridge, and I hope it is, but what if its Nix? Then I'll bet some team will claim him on waivers.

He'll face lefties.

All of the people now doubting the Lakers is exactly what the Lakers need.

QUOTE (MO2005 @ May 19, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) And again...Everyone is acting like this is a shocker that the Sox are where they are. All offseason a few of us said that this team will suck and not compete. People bashed claiming we are not real Sox fans, but I will say one thing about that. Real fans are realistic. This offseason was garbage! Kenny didn't do jack this offseason except pick up guys he thought were going to come out of the gates hitting and pitching. The problem with that is that they are too inexperienced and YOUNG. ANd you know what? Everyone knew in 2005 that the Sox were going to stink. Everyone knew in 2007 the Sox were going to stink. Everyone knew in 2008 the Sox were going to stink.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 19, 2009 -> 05:31 AM) .333, .368, 813 in his rehab stint That was before his 0/4 with 2 k's performance last night. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) Yep, he was throwing it 96 mph and the hitter could do nothing with it but hit it right to Crede. He was basically a two pitch pitcher, and he didn't care if the hitter knew what was coming. The difference is...if he's throwing strikes and ahead of the hitter, then those 2 pitches work great together. If he's falling behind hitters, then people can simply lay off when he drops down and wait until they get the fastball down the middle to drive or take the walk. Even in 05 when he was throwing harder, when he'd walk people, he'd struggle. It's all about the strike zone for him.

Rumsfeld Quoted Bible on War Briefings

QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) Nice cherry pick. Oh, so you have a problem when I cherry pick Biblical quotes to make a point, but you have no problem with the Secretary of Defense doing so. -

If we want to discuss this as a matter of faith then let me adopt a different tact here. Does anyone expect that at some point we will see a memo released with a picture of some of the Abu Ghraib photos on it and the headline: If not, please discuss why not. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) It's a shame that people of faith receive so little respect here. Their ideas are dismissed on a regular basis. They are told they should not have opinions on much of anything from alcohol laws, to what is shown on TV, to basically anything that has to do with public policy. With that, I shall leave. Sorry of I have offended anyone with my "off the rocker" faith. Is that really how you interpreted any of this? Really? Is that how you're judging these documents? I just can't fathom how you look at those memos and think "this is an excellent declaration of faith by the people in charge". If that's how you're seeing them then on this issue, I'm not going to be able to get around the disconnect, because I simply can't see things your way. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:54 PM) So everyone who believes in a deity is "off their rocker"? Just the ones who believe that the deity is on their side and will grant them victory over the non-believers. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 18, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) What behavior have you seen from Rumsfeld that makes you believe he is "off his rocker"? -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) The likelihood of getting potential 1-3 starters (unless they're at the A-level or below) out of any possible trades is very, very low, unless it's a trade of Jenks. With out AA team being quite loaded right now, there is nothing wrong with loading up on A ball guys and seeing if some of them turn out. Just try to get some of them with talent if we give up anyone is all I ask.

Jose Contreras's 2nd start featured a complete game, 1 hit shutout by the Bronze titan. He took a no hitter in to the 8th inning, struck out 5, walked 3. 100 pitches, 66 strikes.
-
24 year old Wilkin Ramirez appears to be one of the Tigers better prospects, he's hitting .316 currently with 5 home runs on the season. Jose has k'd him 3 times.
-
Maybe Anderson needs more seasoning. 0/3, 2 k's.
-
If Contreras no-hits Toledo, can we call him up and DL Gavin for something?
-
Contreras just had a 6 pitch inning with 1 k.
-
Charlotte's up 2 on a home run by Myrow, Contreras with 0 hits, 1 k, 2 walks through 3. Anderson 0/2. 38 pitches, 24 strikes for Jose.
