White Sox playoff position tracker
One issue of note - because they're such a good home team, they often don't have to hit in the 9th inning, and eyeballing it that accounts for maybe 20-25 runs scored on that list that are missing?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
After watching the games this weekend, I genuinely wonder if "Hey can our catchers actually block this guy's breaking ball" is a question they asked when they made that trade? I certainly never considered it as something that could be this much of a specific weakness.

Vaughn's legs are bothering him
So, you're saying he appears exhausted and a 10 day IL stint with Burger called up would make sense? I fully agree.

Vaughn's legs are bothering him
I mean, it wasn't the only thing, but having Mendick as the only remaining RH bat on the bench at a key spot on Saturday sure was a high leverage factor in that loss.

Vaughn's legs are bothering him
Great. Totally understood. Put him on the 10 day IL and call up Burger (or Engel if he's ready). He's already covered 4 days worth of it.

2021 NFL Season Thread
I mean, like all things it’s some of both. The O line is weak, but Dalton isn’t great at moving around to buy time, and with no ability to throw deep, the safeties and corners can be more involved in stopping the run and blitzing the QB, which also makes it easier for the defensive front to focus on getting to the QB, which makes things worse for the O Line.

Well, that’s literally one of the things we noted about Dalton in Dallas last year.

Vaughn's legs are bothering him
Then he should have been available for one at bat in the 10th inning yesterday, under circumstances favorable to him having success.

Vaughn's legs are bothering him
Option 3: he is too hurt to play in several games in a row and can’t pinch hit against a lefty? Put him on the IL and call up Burger. Option 4: have a manager who understands he has a limited bench and this avoids blowing his two healthy backup outfielders in the 8th and 9th, thus preventing the other manager from boxing him in.

GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
And Vaughn went from being ready for all 3 games against Oakland to being so hurt he couldn’t take one at bat in the 10th, within 2 days. Somehow.

GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
The good news is there are no new injuries in the last 2 days, right?

GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
So everyone remember the part where Hamilton was used for a 1 inning replacement in the 8th and then Tony said “oops” and used Sheets in the 9th? Woulda been nice to not do that.
-
GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
Then why are we not putting guys out for multiple days on the IL?
-
GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
If Vaughn is so badly hurt he can’t take that at bat against a lefty, why isn’t he on the IL with Burger up?

Vaughn's legs are bothering him
This “oh the guy is too hurt to play but not hurt enough for the IL” crap just lost tonight’s game.

GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
The last team to do this to Eloy was Kansas City and this did not go well for the Royals.

Anyone else have MLB.TV just go nuts?

GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
I think it’s actually really important that the White Sox didn’t consider whether their catchers could actually catch Kimbrel.

GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
Don’t care much? Tonight?

GT 9/11: BOS @ SOX, 6:10
The automated system says he last threw one of those in 2017. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/craig-kimbrel-518886?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb

So your solution literally is to throw a ball down the middle of the plate.
