I'd definitely like to keep giving Lopez chances the rest of the season as he has looked pretty good out there, but I certainly wouldn't use him as a reason not to find another arm. There's Heuer, Ruiz, and Burr all of whom right now shouldn't even pitch mopup duty in a playoff game, and Bummer hasn't exactly given confidence.

He's also rocking a 30% HR/FB rate that, if kept up over a full season, would leave him as an elite power hitter.

Then the White Sox pitching staff better be ready to hold them to 3 runs or less. Giolito did, but then the bullpen imploded, Rodon didn't, Lynn did and the bullpen held. Interestingly, the White Sox only got 6, then 4, then 6 innings from their starters, which does seem like a "playoff type setup" to me.

I am still stumped at how the D-Backs and White Sox haven't figured out how to make Adolfo + one other piece of some value work for Escobar.

That's why I said platoon advantage rather than improved offense.

Adolfo continues to make a ridiculous amount of sense as a key part of that. He's not ready to be in the big leagues next year, but he's talented and out of options. He's not going to make the White Sox out of ST under any reasonable circumstance. He would have value to a big league team that needs talented guys but has no obvious path to competing next year. No team in baseball appears to have a harder path to competing next year than the D-Backs, not only are they worst record in MLB bad, but they have the Dodgers, Padres, and Giants ahead of them even if they want to try to get better soon.

Given the choice between Goodwin having a platoon advantage with the bat and Hamilton's defense out there...I'd still go with catching the ball.

Although to be fair, there's no reason the D-Backs should pay that money either. (Then again, there's no good reason they should have paid him this month).
