  1. No one works harder at reminding everyone that the front office works hard! It’s hard work u know!
  2. Houston acquired…2 relievers?
  3. I feel like it is normal at a trade deadline to have Merkin write a “they’re done and happy!” Article, followed by someone saying “wait here’s another rumor,” followed by Merkin actually being right.
  4. Goodwin’s role. Heyward made sense earlier this year when the whole outfield was dead. While there’s a role available he could fill, that’s a lot of money to take on with both of those guys.
  5. If it were my roster, I would start by grabbing one more 8th inning reliever and immediately begin giving Kopech some spot starts, either to rest Rodon or to go with a 6 man rotation. That way, when the playoffs come, I have the option of using Kopech for 1 inning or, if someone gets in trouble or a game goes to extra innings,, bringing him in for 3-4 to hold the line together. Also gives me insurance if a starter does go down. I also can’t for the life of me figure out why the White Sox haven’t turned Adolfo into something. Even if they want to hold onto him next year he will be a square peg in a round hole, forced into a roster spot where he isn’t a good platoon option and he’s on a team that’s already right handed heavy and where he needs to produce immediately. A team selling an OF like Cubs or Washington could find so much more value in him than us. Yeah he’s not a top prospect but he’s got at least as good of a chance of starting as the guys the Rangers or Cubs got back.
  6. They could be fine and still get beat in the playoffs, especially now that they’ve fallen back to a 3 seed where every series is likely to be on the road. When other teams are losing themselves up thanks to a couple major teams selling off, there are some moves that could be made that might very well have leverage over the entire playoffs, at fairly reasonable prices. With how this has gone, it would be very disappointing if they already ran out of funds and that was the reason they couldn’t get Kimbrel. Or if they just declared themselves satisfied. Hell, the Cubs already paid Rizzo’s deal.
  7. I think this was the official Twitter version of the White Sox saying “done”. Their official beat writer could readily have said something different from this - “the White Sox know they have more coming back, but will consider anything that makes them a better team”.
  8. Compared To the Dodgers? Yeah, Kinda minor.
  9. Maybe relevant for Lambert, the start Sunday that should go to Cease is still listed as TBD by the White Sox on the official schedule and no one has explained why or updated it in 2 days. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/scores/2021-08-01
  10. So fair to say that every AL contender has now acquired a better player than the White Sox?
  11. this does not seem like a good year for Hector.
  12. Apparently the Cubs fans started chanting “we want Rizzo” today.
  13. Well at least if he's refusing the vaccine he's staying under quarantine.
  14. "Turns out Bryant had to use the bathroom."
  15. It sure seems like there are no position players going for "big time returns" this year, so if you're basically out of the race, you either hold guys or you take the best you can get.
  16. The number of times everyone has listed the 7-8-9 hitters and said "This is awful why can't we have one professional hitter" is justification enough for this being a solid move.
  17. When you're a 90 win team, the context for taking a below-average position up to average is different than when you're a 73 win team.
  18. Let’s just all agree to be very angry at 3:15 tomorrow if doing nothing is the end result?
  19. Recency bias, but Rudy Gobert coming down with COVID on the same night as Tom Hanks pretty much shut down the country.
  20. Rick Hahn on Tuesday at 2:00:
  21. You are correct, arbitration doesn’t do increases that big in one year.
