  • You guys are such babies

  • Does he travel with Cleveland to Chicago...or do the Sox have to go pick him up.  I guess I am asking if the Sox got free delivery in the deal??

  • Guy is like 98% of escobar who everyone was freaking out about

Meh.

Some pop in the lineup at least, hope he was cheap

Weird...so this is it at 2b?

Well this is interesting...he's like a slightly worse version of Escobar.

Couple win player the last few years. Minor upgrade. Hopefully we didn’t give up much.

I think won GG last year right?

I don’t hate this at all

Ahh brilliant! The Trevor Story rumors were misdirection for…..Cesar Hernandez.

Not that far off what Escobar was putting up yea?

Hernandez is a switch-hitting 2B, with 18 HRs and a WRC+ of 100. League average hitter is an upgrade over our current 2B.

Owed about $2M more for the rest of 2021 and has a $6M 2022 team option with no buyout.

Solid, unspectacular pickup to fill an obvious hole.

I am OK with it. Upgrade and I believe good D. He should cost us almost nothing.

Depends on who we give up. Also, as much as this looks like a white flag trade for the Indians...they'll just call up Gimenez. Hernandez is probably their 3rd best hitter though and he always seemed to come up with some big hits for them.

So while we were all hoping for a big purchase from Macy's, we got something from Wal-Mart instead.

works for me

Well he can't hit home runs against the Sox anymore so that's great

Ahhhhh man..........Not a fan of this guy or this move.  Only solace I take is he has hit 18 homers this year, we need more pop, but over his career he is not a homerun hitter.  This dude has to bat 9th when everybody is back in the line-up.

I'll take this all day. Underrated player

He did win the GG in 2020.

Switch hitter, pop, and a gold glove.  I guess we wait and see what the cost is.

Escobar had a 105 wRC+. Hernandez is at exactly 100. Both switch hitters, both good fielders at 2B. They're very close.

So underwhelming, but not shocked.

This is what Ricardo Hahn does best.

Depends on the cost, obv, but he's another guy who started slow and has been better lately. 139 wRC+ in July. Good pickup.

Fuck, this feels more like Marshalls.

If it's not someone on the 40, then someone on the 40 has to be DFA, with Robert due back soon needing another 40 spot.

Also of note is his has a team option for $6 million next year.

Looks like he has played some SS and 3B in the past, plus some OF a long time ago.

Maybe we are looking at Leury's replacement?
