  1. Man, Casey wasn't even close to tagging him. Go ahead and get yourself kicked out for that Leyland, it wasn't even close.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) That I wouldn't have as much of a problem with, but you can't go in the 4th inning, thats way too early. You can't do it every game, but if you have to do it 1 time out of each time through the rotation, and you have a long man in your bullpen, it's tolerable. Last year if we did that, we'd have Viz throw 2 innings, then Cotts, Politte, and Jenks/Hermanson would all pitch, and maybe even Marte also, and our bullpen would be gassed. Mccarthy out there gives you the luxury of taking out a starter every so often if you really need a win, because you can go McCarthy for 3-4 and then Jenks if you have to.
  3. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) is freddys whip north of 2? Today, Garcia's HIP is 2. He hasn't walked anyone. They're hitting the ball too easily so they don't need to work the count.
  4. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) why is hawk saying we catch a break? that is what f***ing happened We caught a break in that the last ball did not leave the ballpark.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) No, do not use the pen now. That would be dumb, we can't win games throwing our pen in the 4th inning. We just used the pen yesterday so you can't just sit out and throw a 4 inning game with the pen in the regular season on any consistent basis if you watn to play winning baseball. Freddy is gonna suck but we need him to throw a few more innings. We didn't use McCarthy yesterday, so I think the best we can hope for is to get 1 more inning from Freddy and somehow still have the lead, then have McCarthy take care of the 6th and 7th, and maybe part of the 8th.
  6. Time for Garcia to give up that clutch, game-tying two out hit.
  7. It'd be nice to get through this inning and only give up 1 run.
  8. 75 pitches through 3 innings for Miner. We wear their bullpen down a little bit and it not only helps us today, but it helps us in the next few days also.
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) Hafner isn't ready for the 'new' Boone Logan (sarcasm). I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the new Logan could actually deal with him. The kid had good stuff when he came up, just no confidence in throwing it, especially after that first blast by Hafner.
  10. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 12:08 PM) Aside from having the lead, what does Freddy have going for him today? $27 million over 3 years. And a couple of bottles of Absolut.
  11. We've been dynamite at home this year. It'd be damn nice to start every series at home for 2 games.
  12. Paulie in the right place, thankfully. I think it'd be really, really useful to get Garcia a couple more runs. I think he's going to give up 2 more runs before he's out of there, maybe 3.
  13. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:35 AM) Just wanted to note here that the "turnips" came through again offensively yesterday, driving in all 4 runs (unearned) in a 4-3 win over the Tigers. Uribe hit a 2-out double, Anderson followed with a 2-run single, and Alomar (certainly an offensive turnip) hit a sac fly. With the Sox only getting 4 hits, needless to say, these contributions were huge! The Sox need some production out of these guys to sustain winning streaks like the one they are on. 2 of our last 3 wins have come largely thanks to the work of the back end/top of our order.
  14. QUOTE(PA32R @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) I just got here, no TV - how's Freddy's velocity? If Freddy gets through the 5th without losing this lead, we should be absolutely thrilled
  15. If the first 2 games of this series had gone the other way, I'd be rooting for Detroit. But until we're out of the division, every Detroit loss brings up a half game closer. I hope the Carmines sweep them.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) He was always better going to his side on a fly ball than he was going back on a ball. He's the opposite of Dye. He had to go back a country mile on that one hit by Pods also. I'm just still amazed at how long that ball hung up.
  17. I have no idea how Mags caught Podsednik's ball in the first inning and couldn't get to that. What in the world is that wind doing.
  18. NICELY Done all around this inning. AJ good at bat, BA great at bat, Pods good patience, Absolut with a great job on 0-2 on a breaking pitch.
  19. Is this the first 0-2 count Miner has had today?
  20. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) You want to be concerned about airplane bombings? Don't worry so much about liquid explosives. This is not an easy thing to do, and a terrorist is as likely to blow himself up on the way to the airport accidentally as he is to detonating a liquid explosive bomb on board an aircraft. What should concern you is that cargo that flies underneath you in a commercial flight goes uninspected. 21% of what travels on a plane receives no inspection whatsoever. If a bombing's gonna happen - it's probably gonna be there first. Or, we could actually have the DHS spend the money it is allocated to try to deal with those problems. But that'd be too complex, I guess. Spending money on useful things is just something our government isn't good at.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) Minus the power. Give him time. He's finally getting solid hits a lot now, getting more solid AB's, the power stroke is not long behind. That was a hell of an AB by the kid.
  22. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) i missed the 1st. im presuming there were some great plays by the tigers? Granderson with a dynamite over-the-shoulder catch to save a run, Guillen with a great stab & throw from deep in the hole to save a run.
  23. AJ looked foolish on those first 2 curve balls, then Miner gave him a cookie of a changeup.
  24. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) Lucky for us, they don't have unlimited funds. If they had more money to spend, who's to say they wouldn't set off a bomb outside a public place in each state? How much money do you actually think that would cost? Remember, these guys aren't exactly buying JDAM's or F-22s, the 9/11 attacks happened on what was it, less than a million dollars IIRC? The equipment for such an attack is avaible easily on the world market, or even in the U.S.
