  1. Please...someone...PITCH...please...I'm begging you...PITCH!!
  2. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) Marky-mark just needs to go slide on a tarp to get himself going again. You know...right now...if it works...
  3. Amnesty International Press Release, 7/13/06.
  4. I'm just amazed that anyone can actually think the possibility of a wide war in the middle east involving virtually every country out there can be a good thing.
  5. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) There's no way he gets that much. Market value fluctuates from year to year. If he wants $75 million, then I'm with fathom... trade him. Mark will get more than Zito will get this offseason. Zito will get in that range. Mark will get in that range also.
  6. Any chance Clifford accepts a AAA assignment?
  7. This is only the 2nd time in his career where Mark has given up 5 runs in 3 consecutive games, so yeah, this is probably the worst stretch of his career. I haven't a clue what's wrong with him, because F***ing Fox carried the Dodgers/Cardinals game. But I will say this...his problem is not going to be people swinging at the first pitch, because if he has his good stuff and has everything working for him, people who try the "Swing at the first pitch" style wind up having Mark ace them for 9 innings. That strategy only works if Mark's pitches don't have their bite or if people know what is coming.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) Looks like contrary to what a lot a people have said, Sean gets another chance. And I'm very much glad to see it. You'd hate to see the organization really be mad at the kid based on that game. How has Sean been doing since he was sent down?
  9. Thanks for 05 Cliff. What the Hell happened to you? Hopefully we find someone who can repeat our pitching swap immediately after the AS break last year.
  10. QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) There isn't much of a choice now, is there? Who do you honestly expect to get for Garcia and Vasquez? You are certainly not going to get two quality starters in return. McCarthy I agree, should have been starting long ago. It is a disgrace that he has been left to languish out in the bullpen. For any team not named the Angels, Athletics, Tigers, or Astros, you could get a freaking king's ransom for them. Right now every damn playoff contender other than a small handful needs pitching desperately, especially veteran pitching who can chew up a lot of innings. There's a reason we have about 5 threads about Garcia/Vaz going to the Mets. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Bmac needs to step into this rotation. As of right now he could pitch better than 3/5s of our current rotation. 4/5. And almost 5/5.
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Getting Jason Johnson, Jason Michaels, and Mota for Riske, Crisp, and Rhodes really help pushed their team to the next level. Shapiro of GM of the year! We can't evaluate that deal overall until we see the key part of it...Andy Marte.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) you did not just go there Yes, I did. Tell 56 to get his damn ERA back below 4. He deserves that one.
  13. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) i guess kalapse was right all along Buehrle sure as hell don't look like an ace On a staff that was supposed to have 5 aces coming into this season, right now I don't see a single one pitching like it.
  14. Meet the New Boss... Public financing of campaigns. It's the only solution.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 09:29 AM) Why am I all about Peaches lately? Peaches come from a can. They were put there by a man. In a factory downtown. If I had my little way, I'd eat peaches every day.
  16. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) I really think the cubs would take a sack of marbles for henry blanco, and althoughhe cant hit, at least he gives you excellent defense, whereas widger cant hit and cant throw Only if they deal Maddux first, or are about to deal Maddux. They may still hope to resign him this offseason, for all we know.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) It's about the same for Chicago. Sunday: Mostly sunny and very hot, with a high near 98. Heat index values as high as 101. Southwest wind at 10 MPH w/ gusts at 22 MPH. Supposed to top out at 103 here. The usual early spring/summer onshore flow that keeps the LA Basin from broiling in May and June totally failed this year, so this whole area is just going to be cooking for the next 2 months.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) Agreed, however it shows you good teams go through slumps, and how quickly things can turn around. The slumps are a lot worse when you can't pitch.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:44 AM) So what other alternatives are there? Not a lot unfortunately. I wonder if you would give up Fields for say a package involving Corey Patterson and Daniel Cabrera (who got demoted to AAA today, but has Don Cooper written all over him). Otherwise there's really not much else out therem if you're looking for a young good leadoff hitter. Because Cooper has plenty of spare time thanks to the dynamite performance of our pitchers this year. Seriously btw, it's time to stop thinking about CF options. Our new CF has finally appeared. He's doing his job a lot better than any of the starting pitchers right now.
  20. I don't think the DCCC should have used the image in their ads, but the Contrast here is beautiful. And, barely 2 days later... Seriously, both sides, do we need this s*** in ads? And Republicans, would you like to practice what you preach here just a little bit?
  21. Our starting pitchers are simply worth more than Tom Gordon. Any and all of them are. Anything in our minor leagues for him is fair game.
  22. Fine, I'm annoyed enough to say it. Think the Mets would do Milledge, Heilman, and Sanchez for Buehrle?
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,203710,00.html Seeing this article made this thread worth a bump. Seems even Bill Clinton is opposed to a fixed timeline to withdrawing from Iraq. I believe that the last Congressional attempt the Dems made, which of course the Republicans shot down, asked for benchmarks, specific goals the Administration wanted to achieve which could lead towards withdrawal.
