  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:20 PM) I've b****ed about the Sox more than anyone the last year but there's no reason to b**** about these guys just being pitchers right now. We still have a lot of pieces to move and one is an elite one. Now that we actually have a f***in direction for once lets let Rick finish this off...and he's doing a tremendous job gathering talent so far. Don't stop now boys. I would be perfectly content having the best rotation in the game all made of players who are 1st year arbitration or cheaper, the best 2b in the game, Tim Anderson, and a handful of actual high priced free agents to build the rest of the lineup.
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) They aren't blocking anyone of consequence and will probably have more value at the deadline, so they only need to be moved if you feel like you are getting something decent back. Guys who are under control for 1 year and who could qualify for compensation if you traded for them now will not be worth more at the deadline.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) Q is going to get moved...I have to think....we also still have to move Abreu, Frazier, Melky and Robertson in the next year (most likely Nate Jones as well). Plenty of options to land more positional talent.Frazier and Cabrera absolutely must be moved. The others we can be a little more hesitant on if we want.
  4. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) I'm actually very happy with this trade for real. Hell of a start. Now we need to turn Q dawg into three four high end postion players. So stoked. Like it or not, this almost forces us to move Q just to clear roles.
  5. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:45 PM) Not sure why we continue to add pitching prospects when we need position players. And we have only added one in Moncada. This is too strange. I continue to have no issue adding pitching, particularly advanced pitching. 2/5 of our rotation last year was scrap heap guys. Good chance we trade away 2 pitchers. It would be very nice to not have to trade for the next James Shields out of desperation.
  6. Ok, no, you don't post the thread saying "Eaton to Nationals" until there is an official post from one of these guys saying the trade is done. That is not what this tweet says.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) Trade is going down. Hahn is hungover and waiting for the headache meds to kick in.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) Trade is going down. Hahn is hungover and waiting for the headache meds to kick in.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) If ya can't get anything good for Frazier, you could absolutely sign him and let him man 3rd and mentor the young players. Coaches should not receive the richest contract in franchise history.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) I'm ok with it. As of now: Quintana Rodon Gonzalez Shields Holland would be whatever. Fulmer should start the year in Charlotte. Former highly though of prospect, injury struggles, going to a team that keeps its pitchers pretty healthy, with a guy in Charlotte who could step in to replace him at the trade deadline if he gets off to a good start? Correct format and appropriate use of resources.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) I don't disagree at all, but that seems to be their thought process. Let the record show that I think the White Sox's front office made far better moves the last 2 days than the Royals FO
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) They say they think they can compete with Hererra as the closer. I don't think they'll trade their impending FAs like Mous, Cain, Hosmer, Escobar. They may sell high on Duffy. They must really love Soler. I don't get the deal, seems like a great one for the Cubs. I've never been a big Soler guy, but there is definitely potential there. Injury concerns with Davis must be real. They might be able to compete with just Hererra, but man, Hererra + Davis if they both are moderately healthy gets them back to the kind of bullpen that could carry them. They would need Soler to be raring to go, healthy, and step in right away for this to work. It seems like the opposite of the direction I'd be taking.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) Hahn on MLB Network talked about Kopech being part of the front of the rotation with Rodon someday. No mention of Q. It's going to happen, just a matter of when. You would think they established names available with Sale, so they can get a deal done sooner than later. There will be teams interested in a guy with 4 years of control who weren't going to make the play for Sale, and teams will give up a different type of prospect for Quintana. You're less likely to get the #1 prospect in baseball for Quintana because he's not going to go out and win you game 1, 4, and 7 of the World Series. You might be more likely to get 3 guys in the top 50 for him because he'll help get you to the world series and he gets games 2 and 5 once you're there.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) Spider-man trailer tomorrow Teaser for the trailer:
  15. Well at least we're no longer being politically correct. That's what we keep being told is a good thing.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) I asked my friend the same thing. It must really suck to be a Royals fan and see them tearing down what took ten years to build, because they simply dont want to pay market value for their guys. They are trying to define rolling rebuild, i guess With the payroll constraints of "Kansas City", if I were a fan of theirs I would not complain about the hangover after the 2015 celebration. They did their job and brought home a trophy. The hangover is the rebuild. I would not mind the post 2017 tearing down. I would be extremely frustrated if they held some of their guys, traded some others for guys not ready to contribute, brought back a scattering of draft picks and players, and wound up with a .500 team in 2017 and a .450 team in 2018. That's what this move says to me - here's a piece for the future yay, but why on Earth are you doing that with only 1 guy? Give me one more run at a title with a team that you have strong evidence can win a title (2015), then call it a job well done, have a couple 5th place seasons, and get back to work.
  17. So to ask here now that there's a thread... WTF are the Royals doing? Does this make them better next year? not to my eyes. They were a freak injury and a terrible season from Hosmer last year away from being a solid playoff team again. Practically 1/2 of their world series contributors hit free agency after this year. Fine, they have salary constraints, but if there is ever a time to go for it for a franchise, it's where the Royals are now. Are they going to trade Moustakas, Cain, Hosmer, Duffy, Escobar, and Dyson all now? Go find someone who can give up a 1b/DH type who won't cost a ton because he's a free agent soon, take your best shot at adding 1 more arm to your rotation, and on paper you've got a team that rivals Cleveland. You're rebuilding in 2018 no matter what you do, go win another trophy first.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:10 AM) Gomez to re-sign with Rangers for 11.5 million. I really hate that the White Sox aren't beating this. $10.5 million with a $1.5 million buyout/$10 million option.
  19. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:45 PM) New Organizational top 15 prospects should read: 1) Moncada 2) Kopech 3) Collins 4) Fulmer 5) Burdi 6) Basabe 7) Adams 8) Tilson 9) Hansen 10) Engel 11) Michalczewski 12) Fisher 13) Guerrero 14) Stephens 15) May Still interesting prospects: Call, Nunez, Zapata, Curbelo, Thompson, Cooper, Martinez, Clark, Danish, Diaz Still not better than a top 15-20 at best system...but an improvement from where we were at So, as of right now the White Sox have 4 players in the top 120. With 30 organizations, an average franchise should have - 4 players in the top 120. Not only that, the White Sox have 2 players in the top 25 and 1 player in the top 1 - both of which are actually above what an average team would have. I know, I feel dirty saying this too - but the White Sox are actually above average in their top 5 prospects. Substantially so. Their system is still not, IMO, a top 10 system, but it's much closer. They are still poor on depth after that top 5 of guys who should be strong big leaguers - they're above average in their top 5 but below average from 6-xxx, the legacy of the 10+ players they've given up to try to compete in 2015 and 2016. That should put them somewhere in the range of 12-18, I'm guessing closest to 12, with their exact spot depending on what you see when you actually line up system to system which no one pays me enough to spend the time doing.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) I still think Houston makes the most sense here. They can get Quintana without having to include Bregman. A package built around Tucker, Reed, and an arm like Paulino would make a ton of sense for both teams IMO. I could be convincable the other way, but my initial impression is that I'm unhappy with that package for Quintana without Bregman. Can you make a case the other way?

    Catcher

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) Wasnt Rodon raving about Narvaez's catching and game calling towards the end of the season? "He's not Navarro this is spectacular!!!"
  22. So what on Earth are the Royals doing? Are they going to move Cain, Duffy, and Moustakas too?
  23. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:44 PM) Not that it merits much but mlbtr mentions that we could be interested in Carson Kelly from the Cards in a Eaton trade I wonder if the White Sox might put a premium on a just arrived in the big leagues catcher.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 12:41 AM) I put DA on ignore a year ago and every time I unignore one of his posts (about once every 10 or so he posts) I regret it. Sorry to talk s*** about him but he is what he is and that's a White Sox sycophant. Let's leave it here. I'm ok with that. Back to Eaton, my point is made, we don't need to further derail this thread with personal stuff. He's on the block and I added my point about why you might make moving him a priority regardless of age/contract.
