  1. Top 8 Damaso Marte in for David Sanders - Liner just over Nunez's head for a lead-off single - Slider stared at for strike 3. 1 down, 1 on - Bullet hit into left for a basehit. Runners on 1st and 2nd, 1 out - Wow ... liner right back at Marte ... thank goodness it wasn't hit hard ... caught in the air, 2 down Hawk and DJ are kind of chuckling, but that could have been a devastating blow to our bullpen. *whew* - Popup caught by Hummell (in for Graffanino, apparently) to retire the side 2 hits, 1 SO, 2 left Through 7 1/2, Sox up 6-1
  2. Bottom 7 - Joe Borchard lines one into left for an out ... but he looks kinda dangerous up there ... 1 away - Josh Paul ... woah, that chick with the black top has nice cans ... draws ball 4. 1 on, 1 out - Miles (1-3; bunt single, 2 groundouts) ... holy f***, almost drilled him in the head ... glad that missed ... Paul strolls into 2nd ... sharp grounder hit to 3rd, it's fielded, thrown, and Miles is retired. Paul stays put - Nunez goes down on strikes. Inning over 0 hits, 1 walk, 1 left End 7, Sox up 6-1
  3. Top 7 New pitcher is David Sanders in for Rick White (2 IP, 1 hit, 1 ER, 2 SO, 0 BB) Valenzuela in LF, Borchard in CF, Sanders in RF, Nunez at SS, Burke at 1b, Paul at C - McKay whiffs at a slider low and away for strike 3. Nice pitch - Grounder to Nunez, throw to 1st, just in time to retire the runner. 2 down I've only seen Sanders throw about 8 pitches, but he looks pretty decent. - Batter stares at a 3-2 strike to end the inning 2 strikeouts for Sanders in the inning (a 1-2-3 inning, no less) Through 6 1/2, Sox up 6-1
  4. Bottom 6 - Anthony Sanders (for Magglio) battles his way for a 3-2 walk to lead-off the inning Sanders looks like he's fast -- anyone know if he is?? - Daubach (0-1; bb, k, run) tries to check his swing, but can't. He goes down swinging. 1 down, 1 on - Lee (1-2; Grand Slam, popout) flies out to semi-deep LF. Sanders back to first. 2 away - Graffanino (1-2; HR, groundout) bounces into a force out to end the inning End 6, Sox up 6-1
  5. Top 6 There's a whole bunch of new fielders in the game, but they're talking about the upcoming promotions in 2003, so they haven't mentioned them yet. I'll get to em as soon as I can. Rick White back out for his 2nd inning of work. Good, I can get a better gague of his "stuff". - ... He's throwing a pitch that's really working ... I think it's a curve ... lead-off guy grounds out to short. 1 away Hawk and DJ bobble head night? I wish I lived in Chicago. - Hot shot down to Graffy is grabbed and tossed for the 2nd out - Grounder to Miles fielded and tossed to 1st for the 3rd out 1-2-3 for White. He looked pretty solid to me. Through 5 1/2, Sox up 6-1
  6. Hes got magic fingures... yea thats it... uh huh... Hmmm..I might have magic fingers (I've never been tested for such a thing), but I surely don't have magic "fingures".
  7. Bottom 5 - Miles (1-2; groundout, bunt single) ... I like the way he laid off that high fastball on 2-1 ... grounds out to short. 1 away - Valentin (1-2; single, run, GIDP) pops out to shallow left-center for the 2nd out - Thomas (0-2; ROE, flyout, run) ... Frank says he feels like he did back in 2000 ( motherf***ers) ... flies out. 3 down 1-2-3 go the Sox in their half of the 5th. We're through 5, and the good guys are out in front 6-1
  8. Top 5 New pitcher is Rick White. Wow, he was lights out last season for the Cardinals. I wish he'd return to that form. - Brewer hitter stands there and stares at a 2-2 strike. 1 down - 2-hopper hit to Jose at SS, throw made, runner out. 2 away Hawk says we've got solid starting pitching to go with a very good bullpen. I'm guessing he's saying he likes our chances this season. - Some left-hander just took one over the right center field wall for a HR. Bad pitch by White. 6-1 Sox - White strikes out the next guy to end the inning. Even though he gave up the HR, White actually looked pretty good to me. He seemed to have control of his pitches and he looked like he knew what he was doing out there. Hopefully he can continue that (less the HR) and further solidify this bullpen. Through 4 1/2, Sox still in command 6-1
  9. Bottom 4 - Graffanino (1-1; solo HR) hits a solid liner to short, it's 1-hopped, and thrown to 1st for the 1st out - Rowand (0-1; groundout) flies out to left for the 2nd out of the inning - Alomar Jr (1-1; double, run) pops up to RF to end the inning 8 in a row retired by Campos (the Brewer pitcher) But, unfortunately for him, it's still 6-0 Sox through 4
  10. Top 4 - Helms leads off with his 2nd walk of the day Hawk and DJ are talking about the rotation and how important it is that Danny is healthy and ready to go. Hawk said that if he can go, it takes a lot of the guess-work away. Let's hope for the best. - Magglio makes a nice running catch in right near the wall for the first out Mark has already thrown 78 pitches. That's a lot. But, he's only allowed 2 hits thus far. - Frank makes a nice little diving catch on a 3-2 pitch. LOL, "That was a helluva play" -- Hawk. Such a potty mouth! - Chopper fielded by Miles, tosses to Frank, inning over Buehrle is likely done, having thrown about 85 pitches. Through 3 1/2, Sox up 6-0
  11. Bottom 3 **Ahhh...the sweet voice of the Hawkaroo ** - Magglio (0-1; popout) leads off by grounding out to short - Daubach (0-0; bb, run) strikes out. 2 down JM is praising Josh Stewart. If we need a pitcher at some point, look for him to be the guy. They really seem to like him. He's also praising Aaron Miles. - Lee (1-1; grand slam) pops out to 3rd to end the inning End 3, Sox lead it 6-0
  12. Top 3 Top of the order for the Brewers - Foul tip into Alomar's glove on a 3-2 pitch for Mark's 2nd K of the game. 1 out They think Buehrle will throw about 80 pitches today - Liner into RF caught by Magglio on a 3-2 pitch. 2 away - Flyball into RF for the 3rd out HOLY s***, IT'S ON WGN! WHY DIDN'T SOMEONE TELL ME? Anyway, through 2 1/2, Sox in charge 6-0
  13. Bottom 2 - Sandy Alomar (.583 so far) hits it deep to left...the LF'er dives, can't get it, and it bounces over the wall...ground rule double FYI, all 5 Sox runs in the 1st were unearned (not that I care ) - Aaron Miles (0-1; groundout) bunts, Helms is standing at 3rd picking his nose, play isn't made...Miles bunt single, Alomar to 3rd with 0 out - Jose Valentin (1-1; single, run) grounds into a 3-6-3. Run scores (no RBI). Bases empty, 2 down. Sox now lead 6-0 - Frank Thomas (0-1; ROE, run) hits high flyball into RF. It's caught for the 3rd out 2 hits, 1 run, 0 left End 2, Sox in control 6-0
  14. Top 2 Ugh...this win won't count for Buehrle. None of the Brewer starters have a HR all Spring. How can that be? - McKay gets sawed off, play made in the infield, he's gunned out for the 1st out - Basehit lined into right field for a 1-out single - Chris Morris hits grounder to 3rd, Graffanino throws to 1st to barely get the runner. 2 out, runner on 2nd - Enrique Cruz strikes out on a 3-2 pitch to end the inning 1 hit, 1 strikeout, 1 stranded End 1 1/2, Sox up 5-0 They said they want to catch Olivo 100 games this season. They then said that Sandy will likely catch Buehrle and Colon as much as possible.
  15. Aww, that's so sweet of you
  16. Bottom 1 - Aaron Miles grounds out to lead-off the inning - Jose Valentin hits it hard into RF for a basehit. 1 on, 1 out - Frank Thomas (it's so nice to see him playing everyday ) hits a grounder to Helms, he bobbles it, then throws it into the stands, . Could have been a DP, but instead, the Sox have runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 away JM says Frank is a changed player. Apparently, he came in and asked for help for the first time that JM can remember. And Rooney and Farmer are saying that Frank really is dedicated to making the Hall of Fame, and that he's in the best shape he's been in in a long time. That's bad news for ML pitching. - Magglio Ordonez pops out to short LF for the 2nd out of the inning. Not deep enough for a sac fly Apparently, Magglio doesn't like being called "Mags". - Brian Daubach (.278) walks on a 3-2 count to load the bases for... - Carlos Lee hits a high flyball into RF...it's goneeeeeeeeeee...GRAND SALAMI FOR EL CABALLO!!! 4-0 Sox - Tony Graffanino hits one deep to left...you can put it on the boooooaaaaarrrddddd, yeeeeeeeeeeesssss!!! 5-0 Sox - Aaron Rowand chops one to 2b for the 3rd out 5 runs, 3 hits, 1 bb, 1 error End 1, Sox up early 5-0
  17. Top 1 Buehrle on the hill for the Sox - Lead-off guy hits a deep fly to right, but Mags tracks it down to record the first out of the game - Flyball to right ran down by Mags for the 2nd out - Sexson drives one to left and it falls in front of Lee for a 2-out single - Wes Helms (former Brave) walks to move Sexson up 90 feet. 2 on, 2 out here in the top of the first - Javier Valentin (brother of Jose) grounds into a force out to end the inning 1 hit, 1 walk, 2 left for the Brew Crew Good guys coming up
  18. How about you check up on things before you accuse me of giving out false statistics? Your apology is accepted.
  19. Yes...and it even counts if you spell "Choice" right. If you're going to insult someone, at least spell it right...please?
  20. What are you talking about? They have tons of teams! The city that NEEDS a professional team is Las Vegas. The most exciting city in the US, and they don't have a team? That's absurd.
  21. Ugh..get off of it already! f***, the guy's gone...he didn't do all that great for the team...blah blah blah. Can't you get it out of your system? HE'S NOT ON THE TEAM ANYMORE...HE PLAYS ELSEWHERE. :fyou to anyone who brings his name up again
  22. Some people are against him no matter what he does. That is unfortunate, and those people will probably never give him credit no matter what he does.
  23. Yeah, I mean, any GM who gets a pitcher the caliber of Bartolo Colon for nothing, you really have to shake your head at him. I mean, what the hell is he doing?
  24. God dammit. I wrote this long ass reply and then it got erased. Oh well, I'll summarize it. These players are shoe-ins to make the team... Buehrle, Colon, Garland, Koch, Gordon, Marte, Wright (if healthy), Ordonez, Thomas, Konerko, Lee, Crede, Alomar, Olivo, Jimenez, Valentin, Rowand That's 7 pitchers and 10 position players. Need to fill 8 more slots These players are on track to make the team... Loaiza, Wunsch, Glover (his versatility makes him a near lock), either Ginter or White (whoever steps up), Daubach, and Graffanino (probably a shoe-in, actually, but who knows) That brings the total to 11 pitchers and 12 position players. Need to fill 2 more slots The candidates are Harris, Miles, Rios, Paul, and possibly another pitcher You'd have to say that Rios is in because our only other back-up OF'er is Daubach, and he's no gold glover. So, that leaves 1 slot to be won by either Harris, Miles, Paul, or an extra pitcher At this time, it's impossible to know what will happen. JM hasn't said if we're taking 11 or 12 pitchers (if it's 12, Harris, Miles, and Paul are AAA-bound), or if we're going to carry 2 or 3 catchers (if it's 3, Harris, Miles, and all other pitchers are goin' to the minors). If we're going with 11 and 2, I'd have to give the slot to Miles based on what's happened so far, and Harris can go work on his OBP in AAA. I'm glad we got that straightened out.
