Top 7 Joe Borchard in for Magglio Ordonez in RF Gary Glover in for Arnie Munoz (1 IP, 2 hits, 1 run for Arnie) - Harris hits liner into RF falls in front of Borchard. Lead-off batter on for the Cubbies - Cummings hits flyball to CF. Caught by Rowand. 1 down, Harris stays put - Charles Gipson gets HBP. 2 on, 1 out They're saying that Glover has a great attitude and could be very valuable for the Sox because he can come in and give you 1/3 of an inning or step in and spot start for you (much like Sean Lowe did when he was with the team). Basically, he's very versatile and could prove to be invaluable. They say he's a lock to make the team. - Popup caught by Jamie Burke. 2 down - Damian Miller hits grounder to Hummell, who forces Gipson and 2nd to retire the side. 1 hit, 1 HBP, 2 left on for the Cubbies in their half of the 7th Through 6 1/2, Sox lead it 6-2

Hello rotation, Mr. Loaiza. Through 4 1/2, Sox up 6-1

Bottom 4 - Valentin (0-2) bounces one past Bobby Hill for a lead-off single The Sox have got the lead-off batter on base all 4 innings (that's a nice change of pace) - Frank (1-1; bb, single, rbi) gets hit in the back with a 2-2 curve. 2 on, 0 out for... - Magglio (0-2) grounds one into LF...run scores, Sox lead it 5-1 LOL!!! One of the announcers just said that someone should buy the Cubs defenders the Tom Emansky video "How to Play Defense". Too f'n funny. "This White Sox offense doesn't have a weakness" -- one of the announcers - Konerko (1-2) flies into CF on a 2-0 pitch. 1 down - Lee (1-2; single, run, reached on error). Wild pitch moves Thomas and Magglio to 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Lee hits grounder that scores Thomas. Sox up 6-1. Mags still at 2nd - Crede (1-2; single) strikes out looking They're still raving about Olivo. They said his throw out of the baserunner earlier was like a video game it was such a laser beam. That's nice to hear. 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 HBP, 1 left End 4, Sox lead it 6-1
-
Top 4 - Troy O'Leary goes down swinging They're saying that Loaiza is a shoe-in for the rotation. Heredia hasn't looked good, and Rauch has struggled too. They said this is the best Loaiza has looked this spring. - Choi goes down swinging as well (#5 for Loaiza) - Lenny Harris jammed, goes to Jimenez, thrown out to end the inning 7 in a row retired by Loaiza (he's impressing me a lot) Through 3 1/2, Sox lead it 4-1

-
Bottom 2 - Lee leads off with a liner into LF for a basehit - Crede basehit up the middle...Lee made a NICE fake of Tom Goodwin (he faked like he was going to pull up and stop at 2nd, then started again) and made it into 3rd with no throw They said that Crede's numbers last year were pretty much what we should expect for 2003. They did say that his HR total might have been a bit inflated, but basically expect the same. - Rowand grounds into a force out, and the Cubs f*** up and drop the ball (it would have been a DP), so Rowand is safe. Run scores, and Rowand's at 1st. Game tied at 1 - Hit and run works to perfection, Olivo hits it into LF, Rowand to 3rd...1st and 3rd, 1 out They talked about the catcher situation. Manuel doesn't know whether or not he'll carry 3 catchers. The announcers praised Olivo's defense. - Jimenez (1-1; single) grounds to SS, it goes between his legs...the Cubs kick it around for a while ()...Olivo coming home...SAFE at the plate. 2 score, Jimenez to 2nd...Sox take the lead 3-1 - Valentin (0-1) pops up on a 3-1 pitch for the 2nd out - Thomas (0-0; bb) ropes an RBI single off the 3rd baseman's glove...4-1 Sox They're wondering if Frank has an incentive clause in his contract for stolen bases. - Mags (0-1) pops up on a 3-0 pitch Inning over 4 runs, 4 hits, 2 errors, 1 left Through 2, Sox 4 Cubs 1
-
Top 2 - Nice play by Valentin on a grounder by Lenny Harris for the 1st out - Gapper into left-center for a 1-out double for Midre Cummings - Fister into RF scores a run...Cubs lead it early 1-0 - Strike-em out, throw em out DP baby! Olivo guns him out 1 run, 2 hits End 1 1/2, Cubs up 1-0
-

-
Hey guys Thank god there are some half-way decent announcers today (at least they are so far) We've got Esteban Loaiza on the hill today, and in the top of the first, he allowed 1 hit and struck out 2. I tried to watch the game at MLBtv.com, and it told me that I didn't have enough network bandwidth or some BS, so I'm having to listen to it. Anyone know what I can do (if anything) to get it to work? Anyway, through a half inning, and the Sox coming up!
-
Ugh...guys, I'm sorry, but I can't take these guys anymore. Plus, we're losing, so it's doubly painful to do updates. I'm calling it a day. Picture this guy waving a white flag, and that's me
-
Bottom 5 Koch in - Strikeout on a 3-2 pitch (1st time the lead-off hitter has been retired) - Matt Williams meets the same fate. 2 down - Cintron singles - Paul guns down Cintron (I'll be damned again) End 5...Sox down 5-1 soxfan420...no fair...I want to turn it off too! :fyou these announcers!
-
Top 5 - Someone got out - Paul goes deep (I'll be damned)...5-1 AZ - Rowand up. They are just making s*** up now. They said he got hurt earlier this spring when he "fouled a ball off his calf or foot". Then that idiot McCrae got handed a note and they gave the correct information (that he was cut when a ball hit his hand on a bunt attempt). Sad but true. Chopper to the left side fielded by Matt Williams. Aaron thrown out. 2 down - Miles (1-2; infield single)...HSC will like this. They said "Aaron Miles up now. The Sox are playing a split squad game today, so that's why you'll see some of these different names in their lineup." Miles grounds out to end the inning Through 4 1/2, Sox down 5-1
-
I think they did say that, but they had to have misspoken. I think they were trying to say that they need Jose's bat, and that's why they're willing to play him in spite of his errors
-
Bottom 4 Heredia still in the game - Cintron chops one into RF for a lead-off single (4th time the lead-off hitter has gotten on so far today -- extremely bad trend) How can these idiots be MLB announcers and not know that Buehrle was offered a multi-year deal? Fire them now. - Someone grounds to Frank who flips to Heredia for the out. Cintron to 2nd. - Another grounder to Frank (to his backhand for the 2nd straight time), and he puts it away for the 2nd out. Cintron to 3rd. LOL..they're trying to make heads and tails of MB turning down the contract offer. They think it was a straight up 5-year, $27M offer, and they're saying "Mark's gonna be a gambling man and go for more later." - Some guy chops one over Frank for a single. 5-0 AZ - Terrera with another hit. He's 3 for 3. 2 on with 2 out - Spivey beaned to load the bases. Gil is really having a bad day - Flyout to Borchard to end the inning. End 4, 5-0 Diamondbacks. Brian McCrae just said "It's not that the Sox win more with Jose Valentin at SS, because he boots around a lot of balls." Thank GOD this other schlub is having the balls to challenge him on that (he pointed out that Jose was our SS in 2000 when we played so well). :puke

Top 4 What the f*** are these people talking about, and who is this stupid chick they have on the air? :puke - Valentin leads off with a liner to CF, caught for out #1 - Frank up. It's the middle of his at bat, and I swear, they haven't said 1 friggin word about the game in almost 2 minutes -- is this a joke? Gee, thanks guys...they just said that Frank flied out. 2 down - They resumed the commentary when Mags was already on a 3-2 count (so we missed at least 6 or 7 pitches)...he hit a ball to the OF that short-hopped someone, so the Sox finally break Elmer's streak. 1 on, 2 out - Daubach singles, Mags to 3rd...1st and 3rd, 2 out This chick has a website...I wonder if it's of the "adult nature"? It had better be (and it better be free) after listening to her annoying voice for the past 10 minutes - Borchard flies out to CF. Opportunity squandered. 2 stranded Wow...Dessens hasn't allowed a run all spring. Through 3 1/2, Sox still down 4.
-
One of them is Brian McCrae. He used to play for the Royals back in the early-mid 90's (Center fielder, I believe). He remembered what he batted in his first spring training...that's kinda pathetic IMO.
-
Bottom 3 - McCracken walked to lead off the inning. WTF? (Wait..am I supposed to be impartial while doing this? ) - Terrero (same scrub as before) triples deep off the CF wall. 3-0 rattlers - Spivey strikes out...ball gets away from Paul...Paul throws high to first (how the hell do you overthrow a 6'5 man?)...run scores. Scored a WP and an error on Joshy. 4-0 AZ, Spivey on 2nd, 0 out - Bautista pops up to shallow RF. Runner holds. 1 out - Overbay hits liner to Joe Joe, he misplays it a bit, but recovers to make the catch. Spivey scampers back to 2nd safely. 2 away - Ball ripped to LF, caught by Daubach (I guess Lee isn't playing afterall). Inning over. Lead-off walk scores (I'm sick of saying that)...1 hit, 1 run, 1 left End 3, 4-0 Bad guys
-
Top 3 - Paul (I'm sorry, but I'm kinda sick of this guy) goes down swinging () - Heredia makes better contact than Josh...still, 2 down - Miles chops out to first. Ugh..inning over 9 in a row retired by Dessens. Through 2 1/2, still 2-0
-
Bottom 2 An e-mailer asked if the Sox pitching can match up with Minnesota's. They're saying that they can as long as either Garland or Wright step up and join MB and BC and become a dominant 1-2-3 combo. Agree completely - Matt Williams walks leading off the inning (:puke) - Alex Cintron chops one into RF...Williams holds at 2nd. 1st and 2nd, 0 out - Rod Barajas grounds to 3rd, 5-4-3, nicely done. 2 down, Williams at 3rd - Elmer Dessens grounds back to Heredia. Inning over Lead-off walk dodged...1 hit, 1 left...end of 2, 2-0 AZ
-
Hmmm...no, mine is working fine. *knocks on desk*
-
Top 2 The announcers are talking about an e-mail written to them about MB. One has the point of view that MB is no different than previous Sox stars that have been "low balled" by the organization (they named Frank, Robin, Mags as examples). The 2nd point of view is that as soon as MB can stick it to the Sox, he will. I guess it's a decision that each of us Sox fans will have to make for ourselves. - Lee (I think it was Lee) grounds out on a 3-2 count. 1 down - Borchard grounds out for out #2 - Graffanino broken bat groundout to 3rd. Dessens has retired the last 6 Sox hitters. Through 1 1/2, Sox down 2-0.
