  1. I don't like him either and I'll chime in even though my name isn't southsider... Reason being is the contract thing a few years back when he was definitely selfish about a lot of things and handled it in the worst way possible....Add that to the fact that he hasn't really had a great season lately (except for 2000) and there's not much to love about him. If Frank were half as selfish as you probably think he is, he wouldn't be wearing a Sox uniform today. By almost all accounts, he turned down more money in the mid-90's to stay with the White Sox. Doesn't that count for anything? Don't his TERRIFIC seasons in the 90's matter? He's given it his all most of the time for the Sox for the past 14 years. I don't think you're giving him nearly enough credit.
  2. Like...he's an enigma. Kinda like a mirage I think. Just when you think it's there, it's not. "Hard to figure out" is another way of putting it. "Can't get a read on him" is another way. No?
  3. I've pretty much gathered that southsider, you don't like Frank do you? My question is short and sweet -- why?
  4. Nopers. More! More! Disagreement regarding....????????
  5. Just insert the names Thomas and Konerko in there and this same arguement could've happened last yr. It's not right to compare Frank to PK. Frank is a future HOF'er and probably the best offensive player in Sox history. Frank was so good for so long that the Sox owed it to him to allow him to try and play his way through the struggles he had in 2002. PK (and MB for that matter) don't really have that benefit because they haven't earned it yet. I have PK on a short leash, and MB on a slightly longer one. I think MB has shown some real signs of turning it around. Wish I could say the same about Paulie. Hell, at this point, I think the Sox would be better off if they had Paulie (Burt Young) from Rocky instead of PK.
  6. Oh boy... another one holding on tight to 2000. It's OK if we end the season in 2nd place, again... as long as Mark wins 20!!! If he were holding onto 2000, he's be sucking Cal Eldred's dick...not Buehrle's.
  7. C'mon Steff, don't pull this tactic. "I know what went on but I can't say" doesn't cut the mustard. Spill it sister.
  8. Hmmm...but the Sox are the ones that made the decision to remove him from the closers' role. There had to be a reason.
  9. Steff? HSC? Insert insider information here.
  10. He can refuse the assignment at his age and level of experience. If he's a team guy and has any integrity, he would VOLUNTEER to go down and do that. Who wants to sit on the bench? Plus, if he went down and got his swing back, maybe he could get traded if he's the odd man out here in Chicago. I hope he can get his s*** together, because his production would REALLY help this team right about now.
  11. Since he's been in the league for like 4 or 5 years now, I don't think the Sox can send him down without him clearing waivers first. I am just guessing, so I may be wrong. If that is the case, he should come up with some BS injury, and go down to the minors to "rehab", heh. And keep him down there for about 2 or 3 weeks until he figures out the problem. Or, just send him to a therapist, because like Hawk said, the problem is between his ears, not anywhere else.
  12. If they were going to deal Raffy, there would be a team out there that would offer much more than the Sox would be willing to give up.
  13. You can't blame Konerko, he has been on the bench for the last week or two. Yeah, it's amazing. A guy hits .191 and he's benched. Are we gonna start saying JM is making a bad decision to bench PK? Wouldn't surprise me. Why so negative today? Hehe, I'm one of the most positive people around here when it comes to the Sox losing. You never see me freaking out after losses, and I'm often the voice of reason amidst a barrage of " :fyou him", "trade him", "fire him", etc, etc, etc. It's sickening to me how down some of you (not you specifically, I'm speaking generally here) can be on the Sox, then just moment later you love them again. It's like Jekyl and Hyde. But when it comes to PK, he should not be playing. It's plain and simple. I don't know what the Sox are going to do, because I don't know if he has ANY trade value at this point. And he's not going to get any value if he's sitting on the bench. But at the same time, if the Sox intend to win, they can't just leave him out there to hit under .200 and hit into countless DP's. They're in a tough situation, and I don't know WTF they're going to do. Think Baltimore would do Konerko for Ponson straight up? You are right Konerko shouldn't be starting. I am not one of those people who gets all glassy eyed over a player and refuses to admit bad things about them. Right now Konerko sucks and Daubach is hitting while we are winning. You play Daub and bench Pauly. It is that simple IMO. I just didn't understand Konerko getting blamed for lack of offense when he hasn't even been playing. Who gets blamed next, Sandy? I don't want to speak for whoever blamed PK, but I think they were probably blaming him for what he did (or didn't do) when he WAS starting. Until about 3 weeks ago, PK was playing everyday at 1B, and as we all know he stunk it up. That didn't set a good trend, but to blame 1 guy for the failures of several is silly.

  15. I really like Jose Valentin, and I think that when he's playing well, he's a HUGE part of this team. But, the simple fact is that he's playing like dog s*** this year. He's pretty much becoming an automatic out and rally killer, and his excessive errors are sickening. I thought for sure we were going to f*** up that game Tuesday and lose after the would-be DP was thrown away by Jose. I don't know if we'd be able to find a taker and trade him, but we really need to get him out of here before he starts costing us games. I was talking to a buddy of mine, and we both agreed that if the Sox could acquire Luis Castillo it would be perfect. We'd have a legitimate lead-off hitter and we could put him at 2B and move Jimenez (he's on my s*** list too, but I'm not ready to give up on him just yet) over to SS. Like Molto said, maybe he's not able to play SS at the ML level, but let him try it out for a few games. If he can't hack it, then we'll figure something out (like trading D-Lo and putting Graffy in there ).
  16. I'm still convinced that Keith MUST have had some kind of a falling out with management last season. A guy with the success that Keith Foulke had doesn't just get benched for having a few bad games. Something, I don't know what, happened behind the scenes and caused there to be an unfixable rift, and trading him was the only solution. I hope the Sox stay in this race and keep Koch, because he's in the upper level of closers IMO, and I'd hate to see the Sox give him up for nothing.

  18. Cut and pasted from www.chicagosports.com Twins catcher A.J. Pierzynski, a noted pest, collided into Thomas' left arm after a harmless groundout. The ball came loose, but way too late. "I guess he was trying to knock it out," Thomas said. "It's perfectly legal but I didn't expect it. I was like: Whatever. He's known for doing that, trying to get stuff started." For those who didn't see it, what happened was AJ grounded one to either SS or 2B, and as he ran out the grounder, for some reason he bumped into Frank as he was trying to throw the ball around the horn (standard procedure when nobody is on base). The ball came flying out, and both Frank and AJ turned to each other and were like "WTF are you doing?". The umpire kind of stepped between them just in case either one tried something, but neither did. Frank's great for saying that above quote, and I'm sure it will get back to the Twins' clubhouse before tomorrow's game. The rekindling of bad blood? Let's hope so! AJ, you pussy And :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou the Twins!
  19. Gagne actually came in when the game was tied, so he didn't blow the save -- but I agree, nobody is perfect, and I get sick of seeing all of you people on here whining about "Botch". Like someone pointed out, we have FAR greater problems on this team than who is doing the closing, so I think we should focus more on them and less on the guy with an ERA around 2.00 over the last month and a half.
  20. The replay and Jose's lack of an argument tend to disagree.
  21. "Frank Thomas plays in the dirt for a while" -- Twins announcers, LOL. End 6, Sox up 2-0.
  22. It was beautiful except for one thing -- he forgot to tag him.
  23. AJ And Hocking is very lucky Jose missed that tag. It was a horrible move on his part to go for 2 on that play.
  24. We've had balls hit speakers and turn into doubles, Olivo gunning out would-be Twin basestealers, Loaiza pitching 4 scoreless innings, and the Sox turning 2 DP's. And most importantly, we're winning.
  25. Good lord -- what an arm Miguel has. Strike 'em out, throw 'em out to end the 3rd. 1-0 Good Guys.
