Are umpires reprimanded when they CLEARLY made poor calls? I'm being serious -- that called 3rd strike to Jimenez was 3-4 inches outside. The umpire's job is to not only call a consistent game, but more importantly, to call an ACCURATE game. This guy blows.

Yes, I'm very surprised that we're only 4 games under. We've played like s*** this year. We've lost several games that we shouldn't have -- which gives me reason to stay positive, as it'll be hard to blow games all year long. In pretty much any other division, we'd be in trouble -- but since we're in the AL Central, we're very much in spite of our efforts to dig an inescapable hole. The last game of each series against SF and Boston were losses that shouldn't have been. That's why I'm concerned about this game. They seem to get satisfied when they are playing reasonably well, then just lay down. Same with the last game against the Padres. That Perez guy had NO business shutting us down like he did.

Yeah, but we both know that Lee would have just hit into a bases loaded 6-4-3, so it's less painful this way. Carlos went to right center nicely for the first Sox hit, today. Ever heard of "it's not what, but when you hit it"? Lee dumped a single with bases empty but choked with 2&3rd... Story of this season. Lee is hitting .284 this year with RISP. He is hitting the best of all of the Sox starters by almost 20 points. Maggs is hitting .266 for 2nd best. On the other end Konerko is hitting .117 RISP, Valentin .191, Jimenez .227, and Frank .231. As a team they are hitting .229 with RISP. Keep making excuses....I am a fan of Lee normally....BUT I AM NOT A FAN OF SQUANDERING AWAY OPPORTUNITIES. I mentioned other players besides him....terrible situational hitting is a HUGE problem on this team. We sould be up 3-0 if Jmenez and Maggs do thier jobs. And if the Cubs had done their job with runners on base, they also could be winning 3-0 just as easily -- what's your point? Cub are not the team with supposedly "explosive" offense...just say you don't pay attention to little things...or don't reply at all...deal? The Cubs as a whole aren't explosive, but I'd say Sosa and Alou qualify as legitimate threats. Between them, they have left 3 men on base so far.

What's new? Your positive attitude? ...or your insincere, pointless detours... Or how about Sammy swinging at eye-level fastballs and then taking a pitch right down the middle for strike 3? Bartolo gets out of a jam. Through 3, no score. We gave them 4 outs- and 4 stikes to Sosa, nothing to be excited about. (Colon sucked his last start as well as did Burly last game, I am still waiting for 9inn shutouts from our "aces"...keep on making excuses, homer-boy) Just because someone doesn't freak out about every perceived Sox mistake, that doesn't make them a homer.

Yes, 4-2 Minnesota, and it's 2-1, KC over STL.

The ump has been inconsistent, but you're wrong about Frank. They called a close pitch a strike on the 2-1 pitch, and then Frank took 2 close pitches for balls to draw the walk. Overhead cam said they were close, but they were inside.
-
Hrmmmm....looked like Magglio beat that one. Even Stoney is saying so. Let's see the replay... :fyou umpires. Lee pops up to end the threat. God dammit. On the bright side, Zambrano is up to 59 pitches already.
-
Holy s***...Bonds has almost 2000 career walks? Didn't realize that. 2 on with 1 out for Magglio. I smell a 6-4-3,
-
Ahh, Damien Miller with a sacrifice for the Sox on the passed ball. Now let's see if D-Lo can get him to 3rd w/ less than 2 out. He cannot...flyout to LF.
-
I think the way it works is this...when the Sox play the Cubs on WGN, the home team's announcers get the duties. Is that correct, guys?
-
Yes, crisis averted indeed. I thought the smash by Harris was gonna be in the corner for a 2-run x-base hit. Let's see if the Sox can put a 3 or 4 spot on the board.
-
Hrmmm...c'mon Bartolo, no more walks. 1st and 2nd for the Cubs with 1 out in the bottom of the 2nd.

LOL, he said this like the day after it happened. One of the funniest things I've heard him say -- and that's saying something, as Artie is simply hilarious.

Still counts the same whether it goes 350 feet or 550 feet.

cw-thank you for the response.I've always considered you a friend and always will.I can assure you that my intention is not to air dirty laundry nor bring anything here from the mlb site.My reason for being here is BECAUSE it's not the mlb site and I hope it stays that way.My response was merely an observation and personal experience which I chose to post-knowing that it may not be well recieved. But my days of arguing with people are well over and look forward to a site where NO ONE has to choose sides.I've posted my feelings and observation, and will let it stand on it's own merit's.I don't wish to pursue this any further and responded only out of my respect for you.I will not belabor the point nor do I wish it to go any further.I don't wish to put you in the position of having to choose sides. I look forward to posting in a more humorous fashion-the humor has been sucked out of the mlb site and I hope to call this home. But I will continue to call a spade a spade-especially when so many are too intimidated to say what needs to be said. so-how 'bout them Sox?! K-Y Intimidated? At THIS site? Uhh...... Heh, yeah. Anyone who feels intimidated/inhibited at a WEB SITE needs to be professionally evaluated.

6-4-3....5-4-3....both do the trick.
-
That's better. 7-3 Sox
-
The 5th inning is big. If the Cubs hold us and continue to chip away at our lead, we could be in trouble. But if we can tack on 1 or 2, the momentum will swing back to us.
-
6-4-3's are always nice.
