Hmmm...it's only the bottom of the 3rd inning -- how interesting could it be?
-
The fact that there weren't 2 outs doesn't matter to me. I like when the Sox run, and I wish they'd do it more. The Twins have apparently been horrible at throwing out baserunners, so if a guy like Lee or Harris gets a chance to run, I'm all for it. Plus, on the replay it looks like Lee may have beaten the tag. Not sure though.

LOL, a gift run. Thank you Twinky Dome.

You said it, not me.

Mike Greenberg is actually a pretty good talk show host. I normally agree with his opinions, but on this one he is just wrong. And yes, Sean Salisbury the football guy. I think Scioscia is a fair man and will give the deserving man the start. I mean, Loaiza can still have 4 bad starts, and Halladay could actually deserve it. Who knows what will happen, but I don't want Loaiza to start unless he deserves it. The "home field" thing shouldn't play a factor in it IMO.

When did I blame him for the loss, you little twat? I blamed Crede, Lee, Maggs, Jimenez and Marte for the loss...but Fatolo didn't help his chances to come out for the 8th as I mentioned above all things considered....Reading is a skill, my faithful companion...and so is watching games. Did you not say that? I think you need to remember what you said in the past before you start accusing someone of misquoting you. Jeezus...is there a moron symposium I was not informed about: I blamed Colon for the "SanFran" loss when he was left to pitch in the 9th as I did Marte for the Cubs game in an attempt to shine the light of reality on this Manuel-ripping orgy of a thread...."Respectively" refers to the two different game situations. Niiiice try...but not really. You are a liar, but that's OK. People who go back and read this thread will know what you were saying.

A "side job"? Is that was they call it nowadays?

How did he die again? I forget. I know he was found dead in his hotel room, but what was the COD?

I was listening to Mike & Mike on the radio Monday morning, and they were discussing who should start the AS game for the American League. They (Greenberg, Dibble, and Salisbury I think) said that if they had to pick the starter now, Roy Halladay would be the guy, and that Loaiza is "having a good year, but not nearly as good as Halladay". Let's just see... Halladay... 11-2, 3.57 ERA, 125 hits, 121 IP (17 starts), 16 HR's allowed, 96 K's, 17 BB's, WHIP = 1.174 Loaiza... 10-2, 2.15 ERA, 78 hits, 100 1/3 IP (15 starts), 6 HR's allowed, 84 K's, 25 BB's, WHIP = 1.027 Better ERA by a ton, and about 50 fewer hits. "Not nearly as good"...LOL.

Nobody's expecting you to feel bad. An acknowledgement that you were wrong would suffice.

Dont even remind me of that call on Crede's (Should have been) HR! Everyone that was in the chatroom that game remembers how pissed I was! And does anyone have any idea what our record is since that happened? We were 12-8 going into that game. Since then we have played .418 ball going 23-32! I remember saying a game like that could be a turning point. Well there you go. If a team takes a month and a half to get over a bad call by an umpire, they aren't much of a team. Blaming their poor play since that game on the missed call is one of the biggest cop outs and excuses I've heard in quite some time.

Manuel did a pretty fine job on Saturday vs. Dusty.

You dont need an injury for Jerry to tinker. Yesterday he sat there stoned when he should have been making moves and today he over manages. when your starter is out there kicking ass and your offense isnt sparking, you let the pitcher play his game. and switch up the offense. Must not make any sense though because JM has a job in mlb and i dont and he dont agree. ................. that said, Marte choked. True, but i dont like JM making moves this this in these situation because i dont trust the pen. I dont know how he can. I felt fine with Marte coming in for the 8th. Not saying I agreed with the move, but I figured Marte would get through it just fine. The only time I ever really get worried with Damaso is when he comes in with runners already on base. Those are normally his poor games. Today, the opposite was true.

A season split against a near-1st-place team.

I agree. Out of Colon's last 13 batters that he faced, only 2 got on base, and both were erased on DP's. He should have been left in (unless he's injured, which is a possibility I guess). That said, Marte choked.

LOL, that's being a bit overdramatic. I'd say that's about 3 or 4 bad games in a row for him. It seems that way, at least. Just checked...his last game was actually a good one. 1 2/3 vs. Boston, allowing nothing. But before that, he had given up 3 ER in his last 3 1/3 IP. Of course, the GS he allowed is in there, which only shows up as 1 ER, but in reality is much more costly.

Correction -- Willie had 2 hits (for the 2nd day in a row).
-
I see no mention of the MAJOR LEAGUER who was brought in and FAILED to do his job, Damaso Marte. In the game thread somone did mention about Marte being overrated.... No, the person (You) said his ERA was deceiving. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't -- but that doesn't change the fact that we turned to him to get us through the 8th to get to Koch, and he failed. Plain and simple.
-
Dunno why the negativity on Willie -- he's been hitting it well since being recalled, but not this time. Sox lose a very winnable game yet again. 2 out of 3 isn't bad and all of us would have taken that 3 days ago, but we leave Wrigley with a bitter taste in our mouth. Gotta go into the Twinky Dome and take care of some binnis, if you will.

Wrong. Remember, Colon doesn't care about winning or losing, so he won't be upset at all. In fact, he'll be happy that he didn't have to throw more pitches -- he gets paid the same either way.
-
Cubs with a combo of bad luck and bad baserunning and the inning is over. We'll have Olivo, Graffy, and Harris due up. 1 run ain't a lot -- but for the Sox this year, a 1-run deficit this late is akin to 3 or 4 runs.
-
Say what you will about whether or not Colon should have been left in the game (I personally think he should have stayed in), but Marte came in and faced Troy O'Leary, Mark Grudzielanek, and Ramon Martinez -- not exactly 3 all-stars. He's got to do his job, and today he failed miserably.
