  1. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Why don't the Sox wear the sleeveless uni's anymore??? Those were my favorite!! Wow, three days in a row now. Can your next post be why don't the Sox win 20 games in a row?
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) If he is, that's f***ing stupid beyond belief. Between Arroyo's lefty/righty splits, and Contreras pitching better with AJP, if Ozzie wanted to get Widger playing time, he should have been playing tonight. I agree 100% that if AJ was going to get one of the games off, it should have been tonight. I guess we'll see when tomorrow's lineup comes out. It just seems to be very rare that a catcher works a night game and then a day game the next day.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Who's 13 games up? I think he means by this that since so many teams have a legit chance at the AL Wild Card, there aren't many teams looking to trade. Not now, but about a week ago, maybe two, I don't remember, someone made a thread about the downside of being 13 games up. If that were the case about the wild card, why would Boston and Minnesota be talking about trading players. It would be one thing if he said he didn't have a match for AL teams. Instead, he said that no AL team wanted to help.
  4. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) - mentioned no AL teams want to help. Here's the answer to whoever made the post about the downside to being 13 games up.
  5. Isn't it pretty much a given that Widger will be playing considering it's a day game after a night game?
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) The only thing that matters is being one of the four playoff teams and then anything can happen. I think the WhiteSox are in a great position to be there! If the offense was not WS caliber then could you please explain why Vegas odds have us favored to win the AL? Vegas odds are hardly a barometer. The odds are based on where the money is going. How often is Vegas right? Yet, they are always making money.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) very glad to see the orlando hernandez pitched extremely well...that was really the most important part of a whitesox fans day... It sucks though, that it had to come on a night when the offense couldn't do ANYTHING right. He's only got so many bullets left (who knows how old he REALLY is), I hope it's a good sign that he'll be healthy down the stretch and not an anomaly.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) First off let me say here I'm not comparing the Bosox offense to our's I'm just trying to make the point about the consistancy of our offense: Here's an interesting stat, i just used 4 runs, cause usually when teams with good pitching score 4 runs they're going to win. Anyways the Red Sox have failed to score atleast 4 runs in 28 of their games this year, the White Sox 30, and the Red Sox are said to be the best offense in baseball, i guess if our O is that inconsistant so is their's Also, the Bosox have been shut out twice this year, our sox 3 times. There have been games where they've scored them in bunches. For example, twice they beat the Yankees 17-1. That is why you have to look deeper than the numbers. That is why you can never have too much quality pitching. Hitters tend to "fatten up" on bad pitching. That being said, the thing with teams like the Red Sox, is that they have that 1 guy (or two) who scares you when he's up with the game on the line. For them it's Ortiz and Manny. The Angels have Vlad. I don't think the White Sox have that guy. Frank used to be that guy, but I don't think he'll ever be the same. Does that mean they automatically lose? No, but that is why there is more pressure for their pitching to be even better, IMO.
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) Your contributions to this site have been underwhelming thus far, unless you count dripping sarcasm as a contribution. Try digging a little deeper. Yeah, I wish I could be as smart as you. Please don't let it get out. It would totally destroy my self esteem.
  10. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) No, the wording's fine. I'm just wondering how a team can be both 30 games over .500 and getting less than 4 hits a game than any other team in the Majors. Anyone have the LOB numbers? They have to be pretty low by comparison I would think.
  11. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) I think hoping for Contreras to pitch stellar against the BoSox is hoping for a lot...I think I saw Contreras' #'s are something to the effect of 1 - 4 and a 13.50 ERA...... Yeah, but he's got great stuff.
  12. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) Hopefully Contreras pitches a perfect game. The White Sox are 1-8 in the last nine against the Red Sox. It will be hard for Count to get a good grip on the ball. Temps as high as 100 with heat index of 110. It'll be hard to keep the sweat of the hand and keep that grip. With the way Contreras sweats, there'll be a moat around the pitcher's mound.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Paulie popping up and Everett striking out with men on was a huge flashback to our 3-4-5 hitters against Seattle in 2000. Come on, now you're just being negative.
  14. Damn, people just don't get it. There are still over two months of baseball left to play before the playoffs. Being 10 games up doesn't mean anything. Talk to me after they play the Red Sox, Yankees, and Twins (who have been a second half team for years). Unfortuately, it will be past the trading deadline. Kenny doesn't want to upset chemistry. This team will fade and get bounced out of the playoffs if they still get in. All because they were content to be good, and afraid to be great.
  15. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) They'll make the playoffs. Come September, when the games count, they will come around. Gimme an S, Gimme an O, Gimme an X, GO SOX. Rah rah sis boom bah. Everybody's counting their chickens well before they're hatched. This team has to show me they have the intestinal fortitude to play with the big boys. I, for one, am not convinced.
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) I really don't want Gload in RF. Konerko is swinging well now. Hopefully get Dye back tomorrow, Gload at 1B and DH Paulie. You haven't seen Ozzie put Timo at 1st base? I know Ross can't play the outfield now.
  17. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) We better see Ozuna and Gload tomarrow Gload better call Jeff Gallooly to take care of Timo if he ever wants to have a chance to play.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Just wait untill someone uses the best record reasoning. We've now lost 7 of our last 9 games at home. Haven't you heard? A 10+ game lead in July guarantees a playoff spot.
  19. That games was great. I can't wait until tomorrow when Contreras pitches. I hope that Kenny doesn't do anything to disrupt the chemisty.
  20. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) man o man whre is Dye and Gload ! No hablan espanol.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) No way. This game's far from over. We're going to score a good amount of runs this game. Dunn's a good topic of discussion though. 0 is NOT a good amount.
  22. QUOTE(Pasqua's Mailman @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) What on earth is Ortiz complaining about? He's ALWAYS complaining when he gets struck out.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) I hope this second base ump gets hit by a car tonight. I honestly would like him to be hit by a car. I bet if you lift up his pants he has red socks on.
  24. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) Uh oh, lightning never strikes in the same place twice... I f***ING HATE STRETCH. I'm so close to muting the game just because of that call. I don't mind it when it's warranted. But I hate it when it doesn't even reach the warning track. :headshake
