QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) The PFB show is brought to you by skype. Nothing like your postgame show being brought to you by a piece of shareware, written by the same folks at KaZaa. Last night was acceptable???? The best O in the game, going against a pitcher with an 8 ERA, and the team they are facing is what 14-40 something on the road. I was prepared to lose one game against the Royals, and I figured it was Vazquez. Honestly, that loss did not bother me that much.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) And we are healthy and playing an inferior team at home. We should be putting distance between us and someone. Boston and Detroit played each other. We should of stretched it out against one of them. The wild card never was part of our equation. I am talking about how our team dealt with a playoff hunt before. We ran and played well before the ASB. Then had problems in the 2nd half keeping consistant. Playing pretty much 500 ball, and playing poor against bad teams. We are healthy, our biggest wild card opponents have a major injury in their rotation, and the other one has been playing poor. How many games are we up with our great healthy team. Count the number of unacceptable losses in the last 19 games. I count one.

before you guys hit the panic button regarding contention, let's talk about how "flawed" these teams are: 1) the Twins without Liriano (think they are going to Prior him? he will be shut down for the year eventually. They will NOT f*** with this this year, I guarantee you) 2) the Red Sox who suddenly can't field a major league rotation. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) I compare it to a team that is in a playoff fight, chasing a team ahead of them, trying to make up ground while that team is playing a tough opponent while we drop games to the worst team in our division. That is the parallels to previous seasons. We were within a few games of the twinks, they started a bad streak and we couldnt take advantage of it because our pitching was inconsistant, and our offense would go to sleep vs the worst teams in baseball. The situation is similiar no matter where the records are. Southside, were we ever in the lead for the wild card that year?

there are a lot of differences between this year and 2004. For one thing, I'm not sure we were ever 27 games over .500 that year. Sox fans, I'm sure every year from now on when doubt creeps into your mind your tendency is going to be to draw parallels on the most heartbreaking season in recent memory, however, I would always caution you against comparing a team a few games over .500 to a world championship caliber one that has flirted with 30 over, and probably will end up around that number.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) Not to mention that team was the royals of all teams... hence the phrase that team...

There had better be a closed door meeting or early bp or early fielding or hopefully all of the above even though there is a day game somebody's voice had better be raised in that locker room. the intensity was not there tonight it is unacceptable to lose that badly to that team at home with your ace on the mound.

I am on an even enough keel to recognize that if we win the next two games the series is a successful one.
-
As much as I would like to wipe away Jon's first two months, we needed those games as much as we need these ones. If he gets his ERA down to 4.75 I will consider the season a success

Is it ok to root for the DL?

We win tomorrow and we win this division
Greg Hibbard replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really feel that tomorrow's game will decide the division if we win, I'm really confident we can beat them in the next two series if we lose, 7.5 games back is going to be too tough it's s***ty to place so much emphasis on one game, but here we are even so, we really cannot be unhappy with 69-46 at this point if we can just keep winning series we will still have a chance at even winning 100 games 31-16 is not totally unreasonable -
who's with me
-
so leyland is planning on using 7 pitchers for this inning fascinating
-
jesus f***ing christ scott
-
even a safety squeeze there is so much better god, that run is just too important you know they are appealing to second to get a read on the hitter, and then you go ahead and leave the squeeze on is this baseball 101
-
there is absolutely no reason to squeeze there

that looked familiar

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Uribe will A ) pop out B ) K very good call, sir

QUOTE(GOD @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) ok Rogers sucks we should be able to do something off him. Remember the game against Johnson a couple days ago. The sox could never come back against a pitcher that has allowed nothing through 4 innings. Especially down 3 whole runs - thoroughly insurmountable. Add to that how dominating Rogers has been this second half and I'm really not sure why the umps haven't just called the game
-
QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) see ya. enjoy whereever you're going oh I just figured you were doing something more productive with your time than watching this game that you've conceded
-
QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) if we were doing anything but looking retarded against Rogers, I'd have hope. great, enjoy your afternoon...see you tomorrow
-
QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) damn. we lose championship mentality right there
-
I'd just like to take this opportunity to say Lou Pinella is really terrible

jesus f***ing christ for those of you saying this is a more frustrating season than 2004, or any year before 2005, you need to get a grip. prior to 2005 we hadn't even won a home playoff series, let alone anything of real significance, in like 800 million years. I think you are forgetting what true frustration is. we are 20 over and in the thick of a playoff race. if you can't take the heat, for christ's sake... Also, in regards to last night, Garland did get squeezed, and I don't know what Brian Gorman's vendetta is against the White Sox, but I will go on record as saying the man downright Hue Hollins'd us in the fifth inning with that bulls***.
-
this is probably the most miserable sox fans have ever been with a team 20 games over .500 by a country f***ing mile
-
well it's a new slogan
