...And that's a White Sox WINNER!!!
Milkman delivers replied to mmmmmbeeer's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 10:42 AM) I know its weird, but I wouldn't have felt the same if he had hit the exact same homer to RF. Yeah, you're right. Maybe it's just our collective desire to have 2006 Jim Thome back? -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 08:28 AM) I will steal 50% of that, thank you very much! Wasn't too cold where we sat, must have had the wind blocked. We were like two sections past first base, about 10 rows up. The wind was brutal, kept blowing right down my back. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 08:25 AM) If your slumpbusting powers are multifaceted......wingman for me when I head out to the bars... I am actually a very good wingman. It's something about there not being pressure on me to personally bring a girl home. You pay for beer and you've got my services -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 07:49 AM) I know most people remember the games we give away, but this game we pretty much had no business winning. Somehow we turned into the old Metrodome Twins with all of the dink hits, timely errors, bases loaded walks, and other flukes of the night. I'll take it. Hopefully this is the night that gets Dunn and Rios going though. Very optimistic to see Dunn go Oppo and Rios back through the middle. Those approaches will help them both out A LOT! I said almost exactly that to my friend. I just mentioned that everything seemed to be going our way. And yes, I felt like that might be the game to turn Dunn's season around. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 09:36 AM) I take back anything bad I have ever said about Peter Gammons http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/06/10/gam...ield-is-a-dump/ I've always liked Gammons and never understood all of the hate. Sure, he's a bit of a Red Sox homer since that's where he's from, but he's almost always fair. He also seems to have more contacts in the game than just about anyone.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 08:30 AM) So I misspelled "must" as "msut" in a pretty long email to someone in a different department that's working on a project with me. This was her reply to a lenghty email: Felt like a cheapshot a bit, especially considering there is a grammer mistake in her email. Oh well, I got a good laugh out of it, and she was correct in that I needed to turn that auto spell check on. ?

I was there and it was freezing. I'll take credit for pulling Dunn out of his slump, though. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) I'll just remember all of these comments when the Sox win a division title for the 3rd time in Ozzie's career this year. I also happen to think a managers most important job is to manage his players as a whole and has less to do with the in-game decisions though. And when they lose the division for the sixth time in his tenure, do we also get to remember this? Or is that considered gloating?

I'm not a dog person either. If I were to get a pet, it would be a dog though.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) It was not a bad play. Apparently you and I watched two different plays and came to different conclussions. Pierre was all out and it looked like Morel was too. It landed in a "bad" spot and our players darn near collided giving it their all to catch the ball. Yes, we should have recovered from the missed catch, but Santos said he just didn't have it last night. Seriously, you're like a cliché manager or announcer. Are you Hawk?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Only someone who has never owned a cat and seen all of the personality and entertainment they bring could say something like this. I know you're trying to be funny, but f*** off on the f*** cats let em burn comment, eh? No, I've never owned a cat (I'm a guy ). I've known plenty of people who have/had cats, and I hate them. Sure, they're nice to you when they want you to pet them or they're hungry, but once they're tired of that they'll nip your hand so you leave them alone. I'm sticking with my "f*** cats" comment.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) I don't know where else to post this, but I find it to be a disturbing indictment of our current culture... So, there is this huge wildfire burning in Arizona. Its a monster fire, burned like 400,000 acres so far, and keeps going. Approaching some towns now. CNN interviews a resident of one of the towns and his family, who are packing up a couple pickup trucks with everything they can fit to leave. Not everything fits of course. Their choices? --X-Box makes the cut, same with the dog --What doesn't make the cut and stays to burn: family photos, and the cat So... the X-box, easily replaceable, can go... but the irreplaceable family photos, and the LIVING THING, are left to burn? Seriously? WTF is wrong with people? Article Perhaps they have all of their pictures online? And in regards to the cat, f*** cats. They suck.

Why is the PFH thread closed? Did something blow up and I missed it?

Strained right groin for Jake Peavy

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) BS. If he would have pulled himself without appearing to be ineffective first we would have been talking about how he is soft. I don't think it's that cut and dry. Yes, people would probably be jumping on him immediately after he pulled himself, but then it'd be clear to everyone why he did it when he went on the DL. -
What was your favorite Jeff Marquez highlight?

I'm much more of a backer of Williams than Guillen (I think they both should go at this point), but those Swisher deals were just the worst. I mean, they were just terrible. -
I don't expect Humber to have turned his career around entirely so that he'll pitch at this level for years, but I made this thread because last night I finally started to feel that he's going to continue this all season. I'm expecting a Loaiza-like run: a great year followed by a few pretty decent ones. I'm very happy for the guy, as you just know he's enjoying every second of this. Considering he finishes out the year without falling off of some huge cliff, do you think he'd be regarded as the comeback player of the year? I understand that he was never really there in the first place, so that's why I wonder.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...rumblings110607 How sad is it that we have three guys on this team that can be considered the worst player in baseball by some metric? -
C'mon, I try to make a completely optimistic and happy thread, and this is all it gets

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) I understand your frustration. But what, within his power, would you have him do? Nothing he can do. He's just a broken pitcher. That's what's frustrating. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) Jake Peavy is the ultimate battler. I am sure he feels absolutely terrible about how things have worked out for him so far in Chicago. I hope he gets back soon and wins some ballgames for us LOL man, you are like a constant string of clichés. -

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) re: IC Champ. SEE?!?!? If they do it right, that belt was meant for something. Steamboat, Macho Man, Rock, Hitman....legends. Now they'll just give it away to a Tough Enough winner or some up and comer after six months on the job....in a manner of speaking. What a joke. And?
