  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) CHRIS JERICHO JUST JUMPED MICKEY ROURKE!!!! MY GAWD IN HEAVEN! Hahaha.
  2. Great joke by De Niro.
  3. Sophia Loren looks like the f***ing crypt keeper. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) I'm not debating if Hathaway was good in it, I just have never pictured her as being able to pull something like that off. Just joking around.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:18 PM) Anyone see "Rachel Getting Married"? I have a penis...so, no.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) It's funny to see Penn there. Doesn't he usually boycott the Oscars, thinking it isn't a competition? I have no idea. Also, someone earlier said they read that Penn wants Rourke to win the Oscar. I googled it, and the article I found said it was the other way around.
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:14 PM) Milkman it's not like it was a great year for Movies anyways. And if you came into this tonight not thinking that Slumdog was going to not win a lot of awards, well that's just pretty stupid considering all of the awards it's won at previous things (e.g the Golden Globes). Just because it wasn't a great year for movies, it doesn't mean that all of the awards should just be pawned off on one decent flick. I also figured it would win Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay, but didn't expect it to basically sweep.
  7. Winslet, Penn, and Slumdog.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) Danny Boyle You think? Ha...that is a surprise. I'm really glad I already saw this movie. If I were to see this ceremony before having seen the movie, I'd be led to believe it's one of the greatest movies ever made. I'd be extremely disappointed after then seeing it.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:06 PM) Remember the one at The Grammy's a few years ago that ended with Little Joe. Kid Rock was on the stage all emotional. That was dumb. I never watch the Grammy's. Joe C, you mean?
  10. Oh, get ready for the tribute part. Half of the people won't clap for the vast majority, as though those people didn't matter, but will go nuts for about three actors.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:57 PM) The Dark Knight is the Christian of the ceremony? The Wrestler is Jeff Hardy? I like this game. Here's Tajiri. Or Funaki.
  12. Without knowing anything about these movies, and just hearing them say one of the movies is in Hebrew, I'm going to say that will win the Oscar. WRONG.
  13. Brian, Slumdog is the HHH/Cena of this ceremony. I'm just going to call it now. Slumdog Millionaire, the movie itself, will win both Best Actor and Best Actress.
  14. What is Slumdog Millionaire at in terms of Oscars right now? Ring up another one, as they have 2/3 of a chance at this one.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) I just noticed that Springsteen's song he made for "The Wrestler" wasn't nominated. WTF? Yeah, it's probably the biggest snub.
  16. Jesus H. Christ.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) I'm gonna go see Frost/Nixon on Wednesday now. It better be as good as you say or you owe me $7. I hope you enjoy it. Make sure you mention what you thought of it in the Films thread.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) Considering they haven't given away best original song, I'd have the remote handy. I'd be more pissed about Slumdog winning things if The Wrestler and The Dark Knight were nominated for Best Picture. I'll be pissed about Slumdog winning if Rourke doesn't win Best Actor. If he wins it, I'll be able to tolerate Slumdog taking that award home.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) Neither was CCoBB, The Reader, Frost/Nixon...Milk, The Wrestler. I still prefer Gran Torino over all of them, in terms of impact on me as a viewer. Doubt was really good, but I can't say that I would want to watch it again every year for the rest of my life or anything like that. Well, at least it's not The English Patient, lol. I think Slumdog is probably better than Crash, too. Didn't you say you see almost no new movies? You saw all of those, and can honestly say you think Slumdog Millionaire was the best one? Also, Doubt was not a great movie. It had great performances that made it tolerable, and it would've been unbelievably bad without them.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) It's a foregone conclusion. Pretty weak year if that's the best movie of the bunch. I'm going to beat it into the ground, but Frost/Nixon was way better.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Slumdog is ridiculously over-hyped. It's starting to actually piss me off. There is no way in Hell it doesn't win Best Picture. And if there's one more musical number, I might turn this off.
  22. This is getting ridiculous. Slumdog Millionaire was not this good.
  23. Slumdog Millionaire won for Best Sound Editing? I don't know much about sound editing, but I have to imagine that action movies should have a much greater chance at winning that. I think the Academy just picks a few movies it likes and says "let's give them all of these secondary Oscars."
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Was great. No question, but Hoop Dreams was extraordinary. It showed me that documentaries weren't just educational and dull. I remember watching Hoop Dreams in the theater and thinking it was just that.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) I would really like to see Trouble the Water, too....seems like an interesting one, although Hoop Dreams might never be eclipsed for best documentary ever. I know Michael Moore and March of the Penguins have their fans, but Hoop Dreams was it...although I have to admit the one about the girls' basketball season in the Pacific Northwest was really entertaining too, just because of the coach and the saga of the star player. Bowling For Columbine, easy.
