  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) So the only question left is will Slumdog sweep through the rest of the big awards....? Best Actor? Best Actress?
  2. I saw that Man On Wire guy on The Colbert Report. He really seems like a cool guy. And I am owning this thread.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) I saw a picture of her fiance last week when she broke it off. She is definitely out of his league. I need to see a picture of her in this dress people are talking about. Heath's sister is hot. She wasn't out of his league when she wasn't famous, apparently.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) It seems that tonight will be the official coronation for Freida Pinto, who spoke probably 20-30 lines in that whole movie and will now become the IT girl of hte moment due to her country of origin, the growing interest in Bollywood, her beauty and her interesting dress. The big question becomes will she ever evolve into more than a pretty face? Can she carry a movie on her own or be a lead actor/actress? I guess we'll find out soon enough. Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto has reportedly called off her engagement to Rohan Antao after work commitments left her with too little time to spend with him. Actress Pinto and Antao, both 24, met four years ago when they were studying at St Xavier's University in Mumbai, India. Antao allegedly supported his partner's career after she left university and became a successful model and TV presenter. But her recent catapult to fame thanks to the international box office success of Slumdog Millionaire has put a strain on their relationship, prompting Pinto to call it a day. A friend tells British tabloid the Sunday Mirror, "Freida called off the engagement after the film took off. She could never have imagined how rapidly her career would grow and it's all been overwhelming." Glad to see she's not a huge f***ing b****.
  5. OMG! I can't believe Brolin won...
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) Red Auerbach. JK George Burns Thank you. It was on the tip of my tongue. I kept wanting to say Burgess Meredith.
  7. Who is that old guy (passed on by now) who always smoked cigars? They just showed him, and his name slips my mind.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) I'm not able to watch because I'm still in Thailand and the streams aren't very good. What did The Reader win for? I guess I'll have to catch that skit on youtube or something. At least I was able to see Pineapple Express, though. So the only surprise so far is Penelope Cruz I guess? I guess. That's the only major award so far, I think. Slumdog Millionaire was Best Screenplay. I suppose that's a bigger award, and it's not a surprise. I'm not sure what The Reader won for, if anything. I was referring to the short live-action award.
  9. Apparently they went with Jackman for the musical numbers.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) I did not see Frost/Nixon. I wouldn't understand it since I know diddly about Watergate. I didn't know much about it. No more than most, at least. You don't have to know anything about it. You can probably go to the bathroom now.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) It's the biggest fish in a small pond, IMO. That skit ruled with Franco and Rogen. Did you see the other nominees? I think Frost/Nixon was easily better, easily. And yes, that was a great skit.
  12. Oh, a movie about the Holocaust won an Oscar...surprising. I'm not trying to mock the atrocity, but Ricky Gervais was right on at the Golden Globes when he told Kate Winslet something along the lines of, "I told you. Make a Holocaust movie and the awards start rolling in."
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) Jessica Biel is overrated. I said it. Slumdog Millionaire is overrated. I said it.
  14. Just so I don't look retarded, here's the Family Guy skit: Lois: I feel like that fat-ass British girl from Titanic. Peter: What girl? Lois: The *lead* in Titanic. The one opposite Leonardo Di Caprio. Peter: Sweetheart, that was a guy. Lois: What? Peter: That was a guy. That was Philip Seymour Hoffman. Lois: No it wasn't! Peter: Yes it was, honey. It was Philip Seymour Hoffman. Look at you out here on a big trip.
  15. I was making an extremely weak reference to Family Guy. I was hoping someone would somehow see what I was going for.
  16. Does anyone doubt that Philip Seymour Hoffman will win Best Actress for The Reader?
  17. I would've given the makeup award to Hellboy II.
  18. Usually they intersperse these s***ty awards with major ones. It looks like they're really trying to get the garbage out of the way.
  19. All those white guys look the same to me.
  20. Haha, that asian guy looked to be bombing with that speech, but saved it with the Mr. Roboto thing.
  21. This is now going pretty quickly. They're getting the awards nobody cares about out of the way as fast as they can.
  22. Are Travolta, Cruise, or any of the Scientology freaks there? If so, I wonder if they'll make a deal out of that joke.
  23. I enjoyed that opening number.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) Boy, you guys will nitpick anyone to death, huh? Can't you see that he's only a monkey who was owned by a famous mural painter? I'd expect a monkey with the ability to type to not make such mistakes, especially one owned by a genius such as Michelangelo.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) Approximately 20 people murdered including a graphic scene of a man getting run over by a truck, 18 year old girls strung out on heroin, sex trafficking, and foul language equals PG-13? Sure there wasn't a ton of blood but give me a break. When you have a 13 year old you'll see where I'm coming from. Let's hope that's a long time from now.
