  1. I watched Role Models with my first Netflix viewing yesterday. Very enjoyable movie, although it wasn't hilarious. I'm going to be watching Zack And Miri in a minute. I fully expect a letdown.
  2. Told my friend the Cubs had traded for Peavy. He's a Cub fan and believed it for about 10 seconds.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) They have to receive the movie before they send another one. I think there's an option to have 2 or more movies at once. That obviously costs more. Yeah, I got the two DVD option. Just wondering.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) im very glad owens is gone, but this is horrible news.... the fact that we plan to give the most ABs in the lineup to a 31 year old who has a career .254 obp and is a bad defender is a f***ing joke Is it set in stone that Wise will be leading off? I've been hoping for a while that Getz would win the 2B job and lead off, with Anderson in CF.
  5. I just got Netflix yesterday. Anyone have any suggestions for movies? Also, I have a question. When you send back a DVD, do you have to wait until they physically receive it back for another one to be sent to you? I'm not sure if there's a feature online where you can just say it was sent back and they'll send the next one (I seriously doubt this).
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 21, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) Reading the title of the thread, I thought someone was giving us a personal medical update. I thought someone wrote an article about the terrible bout of diarrhea I just got over yesterday.
  7. QUOTE (The Critic @ Mar 21, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Paul Rudd is solid, but I'm not too interested in seeing that movie. I'll wait for the rental, I think. I think you and Bob Dylan are the same person. Either way, you really live up to your handle.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) I remember it as a hilarious thread but I forget what it started out as and when it was so i cant go try to find it. I doubt it was ever resolved either. Which poster are you guys talking about?
  9. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) Since DC created the characters in Watchmen, I'm guessing it was. During the long intro scene you can see some Batman posters on the wall, and when the crowd is rioting you can see someone hanging and lighting fire to a Superman dummy. So, you're saying I'm a genius?
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) Not sure if this has been posted before but Mickey Rourke has signed on to play the next villain for Ironman 2 ...milkman breathe, just breathe! http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.eonline.com/103998- Old news! I am going to look forward to it because I think Iron Man was a great movie, but it's not like I have a man-crush on Rourke. I just felt that his performance was the best this year. Now if they announced that Tom Wilkinson was to have a big role in it, I'd mark out.
  11. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) From what you say, the movie sounds better to me. I have to look up more information, though.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) Nor am I surprised that you didnt like it. It doesn't work in reverse? You didn't type "amI". Did you even notice my clever putdown?
  13. It doesn't surprise me at all, Shipps. Iam not surprised.
  14. Thanks, but hopefully someone posts it before that time, ha. I think I mentioned the Visitor earlier in this thread. I've seen just about everything, though, so it's easy to miss a post.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) Personally, I hope Fallon succeeds. I've always liked him but he picked some pretty bad roles in movies (aside from his Boston Red Sox movie), I thought that was pretty good. I can't believe anyone liked this movie.
  16. Can someone who's read the book tell me how it ended differently than that movie? I won't be reading it.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 7, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) Anyone see The Visitor? Wondering if there are any scenes with subtitles. Going on another trip for work and don't want to make the mistake of adding a heavily subtitled movie to my Zune again. Made following Miracle at St Anna very difficult. Great movie. No subtitles that I can remember. I might be very late in this response, so sorry. Watchmen was great. I really enjoyed every bit of it. One thing that crossed my mind, though. Were Night (or Nite, not sure) Owl II and Dr. Manhattan supposed to be similar to Batman and Superman? I thought they seemed alike. Night Owl's quick back story seemed to resemble that of Batman, having a rich dad, the bat cave thing, etc. I thought that might have been a reason why they didn't go deep into his past, and sort of just had the character explain it himself. Dr. Manhattan reminded me of Superman just because he was "so much better" than every other superhero. "I'm not locked in here with you. You're locked in here with me" -Instantly one of my favorite movie quotes of all time.
  18. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 05:07 AM) That leaves us with one major problem, who is our leadoff??? Anderson definitely can't do it, and Getz is more of a #2 hitter. That's why I think that Jerry might be our starting CF although I'd rather go with BA in center and take our chances having Lexi or Getz/Nix leadoff. Cabrera wasn't a prototypical lead-off hitter last year. I'm sure Getz will do just fine, and much better than Owens, in that spot.
  19. QUOTE (YASNY @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) You are finally getting smarter! I thought it was just you mellowing out in your old age.
  20. QUOTE (YASNY @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) Basically, I agree with you. However, Nix may beat out Getz for the 2B job. Too early to call. What happened to us?
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) None of the bolded portion makes sense. Dewayne Wise hit 1 pinch hit homerun last season and had nearly identical PH numbers to Brian (same OPS, same PA). So Dewayne Wise turns on a first pitch fastball from Kyle Farnsworth in the 8th inning of a tied September game against a last place team and it totally makes up for the fact that he's truly incapable of doing anything well on the ballfield? Yeah, that makes sense. Anderson has a disappointing season as a 24 year old and he's out of chances yet Dewayne Wise builds up a 12 year resume of failure and that counts for nothing. Aside from maybe being slightly faster (maybe) I can't think of a single thing Dewayne Wise does better than Brian Anderson, at least one of them can play competent defense. I'm befuddled I can't think of a single thing Wise does well and yet it looks like he has a decent shot at a major league starting job this season. He's 31 years old, he's sort of hit his peak. Owens apparently possesses the necessary skills to be the leadoff hitter and beneficiary of the most PA on a contending American League club yet having him on the same roster as the AAA bound Anderson is "too much of a bad thing." I'm wondering what these skills that you and Bill Melton see in Owens that make him the most qualified leadoff hitter on the roster. I assume it's his volume SB ability. I say volume because I'm not convinced he's a skilled baserunner, when he somehow manages to get on base he's likely going to take off for 2nd but he's done nothing in the past that makes me believe he's going to make it to second more often than 75% of the time. Oh I know, he's the closest thing to a "prototypical leadoff hitter" that the Sox have, unfortunately the prototype blows. Sure he's a bad baseball player but he's fast and someone fast has to hit at the top of the order so lets give this s***ty baseball player and obscene number of plate appearances so he can lead the league in outs. Oh if only Chris Getz could get hot and start tearing the cover off the ball during these meaningless March games and win himself a starting job. Stick him in the leadoff spot, hope he reaches a .350 OBP and fill centerfield with an above average defender. Centerfield is one of the most important defensive positions on the field, put 2 s***ty defenders in left and right (I'm looking at you Dye and Quentin) and suddenly it becomes even more important. The Sox aren't exactly littered with strikeout pitchers, they're going to rely on the defense behind them. The Sox were one of the worst defensive teams in baseball last season, now they've removed the only true strikeout pitcher from the rotation so that defense is going to get even more opportunities and the defense looks to be even worse than it was last year. Perhaps using the 2B position to fill the leadoff spot and plugging a great defensive player right in the middle of the outfield could help make up for the 4 or 6 below average defenders the Sox are going to have to run out there this year. Sticking the puss armed bantam track star or the career minor league butcher in centerfield and adding another below average defender to the mix just because of a perceived need for a speedy douchebag in the leadoff spot is just epically retarded in my mind but what do I know, I'm a raving lunatic. Thank God you said all of this so I didn't have to. I honestly got mad reading the paragraph that you put in bold.
  22. I think Ozzie will make the right choice this year and start Anderson in CF. I think Getz will get the 2B job, and Lillibridge and Betemit will be on the bench.
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) I gotta say,I really HATE EVERYONE today. I am a mean little b**** today. On the bright side, you overcame your grammatical deficiencies.
  24. I knew what it would be before opening the thread, but only because lostfan talked about it on facebook, too.
