  1. Whoever we get better be flipped for Carl f***ing Crawford, or KW is an absolute idiot.
  2. That deal doesn't seem as outrageous as I was expecting.
  3. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) I do think the Sox want Rowand back, but fortunately KW is not stupid. I'm sure the Phillies with try to use KW's aggressiveness to their advantage. We all know KW will overpay for a guy he really wants, but he values his pitching too much for this to be true. If that is what the Phillies' are asking for Aaron, I'd end the talks. That's one thing that most people seem to overlook with KW. I can't count how many times I've seen a post that shows mistrust in KW's decisions, but the guy ain't stupid. He really knows what he's doing for the present and the future.
  4. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) KW will do his homework before trading for Farnsworth. I do not know from first hand knowledge, but I'm pretty sure I've read things here at Soxtalk that would make me very concerned about bringing him back to Chicago. He allegedly used to party a bit too much. I plead ignorance to Melky. Would he be a nice addition to the Sox? o I don't know much about Cabrera. All I do know is that he's only about 22-years-old and that he put up pretty good numbers on a team that puts more pressure on a player than any other team in baseball. Not sure if he can play any position besides LF, but I don't think he's an overrated player like most players that come out of NY/Boston.
  5. QUOTE(shoota @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) The fact that Ozzie admits Mack is a poor choice in center indicates what we've been speculating for months, that Ozzie knew Anderson in center is the best option he had, yet he let personal bias trump what was best for the team's success. This guy's good^^^ Ozzie clearly let's personal bias take precedence over what is best for the team. It's obvious in the way he twists what McCarthy says to reporters. B-Mac says that he'd be more useful in the rotation than he'd be in the bullpen, and Ozzie says McCarthy is demanding that he start. Ozzie's basically just a douchebag that wants his way or the highway, but he's a douchebag that's won a WS, so I don't know.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) A-rod plays 3B, Uribe plays SS. If A-Rod hadn't bulked up, as some on here have mentioned, I would have much rather had Uribe at 3B and A-Rod at SS. As we know, Rodriguez isn't the greatest 3B, but he was a damn good SS. Uribe is one of the best SS's in the game, but I think he'd be able to handle 3B much better than A-Rod could. So, instead of having a great SS and a slightly-above-mediocre 3B, we would have two pretty damn great defenders at both positions. That is, of course, if A-Rod hadn't put on weight.
  7. Ozuna was truly one amazing signing before the 2005 season. And I am certainly happy he's still with us, as he's my favorite Sox player along with Iguchi.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) I actually trust that Garcia will magically find his 92 mph fastball again during his FA year. On the other hand, unless the Phillies are offering Rollins, Howard or Hamels, I really hope KW puts down the phone. We can do much better than some crappy 4th outfielder and a medicore pitcher. I've been saying this for a while. I'm am, by no means, a Garcia fan. But, it looks to me like he's the guy most likely to put up a stellar year. If the team is confident that he has regained his fastball, I would keep his around. He has improved his control and added a splitter. Also, he might hit free agency at the end of the year, so he'll be pitching for a contract. All of that adds up, in my mind, to a big f***ing season from Freddy Garcia. And I'd like to ride out that hot hand.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 07:45 AM) Speaking of Russ Springer; Holy s***, I had no idea Springer was 38. I thought he was young.
  10. I think Miller would be pretty ideal.
  11. When do these winter meetings start? The Bears are only on once a week, and this s***'s getting really boring.
  12. Are any good QB's going to be FA's at the end of this year?
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) So let's see; Ervin Santana and Chone Figgins OR A-Rod. Considering we could MAYBE get a prospect in the 1st deal as well, I know which way I'm heading on this. I don't see how this makes sense financially, unless you raise the payroll another 20M-30M at least. And I'd rather get the young pitching in Santana, and let Josh Fields develop at 3rd base (even though I don't think he's ready yet), but that's just me. You can have your young pitching and prospects. You seem to love those prospects. I'll take the guy who is almost without question the greatest player still in the game (you can make an argument for very few players over him).
  14. Yeah, we'd be fools to trade an impending FA and a guy who had a career year who won't re-sign here anyway for likely the best baseball player of our time.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Not sure of the record but didn't Dante Hall have 5 or 6 a few years ago? Was it that many? Wow, I was way off, then.
  16. What's the record for most PR touchdowns in a season?
  17. You have GOT to be s***ting me. This guy has to be replaced immediately.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) Grossman is f***ing horrible, I can't even take this First he doesn't see a WIDE OPEN Moose in the endzone and throws a near INT, next play he does throw an INT right to a f***ing Viking defender. No, no he's not. You'll soon see that, as soon as he can put together a completely healthy season, he's probably the greatest QB the Bears have ever had. The Bears are truly lucky to have such a leader and winner on their team.
  19. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 02:17 AM) Again, ignorant. How many times does I have to state the facts? Why do you people keep ignoring these facts? Stop looking for reasons to judge a team. They won the World Series, in which they beat the two best teams in baseball to get that title. Stop making excuses for the other teams or whatever. They won. They are a good team. There is no argument. Is ist that some of you are the type who think stats are all that matters? Well, how are THESE stats: Cards vs. San Diego - W. Cards vs. New York - W. Cards vs. Detroit - W. This is the only stat that matters. So they had the worst record of any WS winning team. So what? They still managed to do it. As I said, they aren't the only team to have struggles and win the WS. AGAIN as I said, so did our Sox. They are a good team. I absolutely CANNNOT stand people that s*** on teams that win the freaking World Series over s*** that ultimately does not matter. It's stupid.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) That's the expectations I've already set. I'd like to believe Williams can't possibly screw this up. You really have a low view of KW, don't you? What the hell has the guy done that you constantly rag on him like this?
  21. Honestly, I can't see a team being interested in trading for Pods at that price. To me, it looks like Pods is here for 2007.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) I apologize to any overweight, teenage girl that is in this thread. Now put down the Krispy Kreme, and go run on the treadmill. You have a full season ahead of screaming for every Podsednik grounder to the first baseman. Time to get in shape!
  23. Buehrle makes a lot of money. Crawford plays for the Devil Rays. That leads me to believe that this is complete BS.
