  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) Gagne is awesome when healthy and a fun player to watch. I hope he'll pan out and stay healthy. Still a ton of money for an injury prone guy and the Lofton move is a decent one. The Dodgers did a nice job giving Kenny consistent rest and he rewarded them by having a pretty darn good season. I don't. And I don't know why anyone would root for a steroid abuser to make a come back. Screw him.
  2. Raw was pretty entertaining tonight, although it's always much more fun in person. The show kept me into it throughout, including Heat. That is, until the one man show destroyer, Umaga, had a match. He was the second-to-last match, and I couldn't have been less interested. It was so bad that it made the main event unwatchable, too. The thing is, I felt like the entire crowd was deflated after having seen that piece of crap. I don't understand how the WWE cannot see how uninterested the fans are in that hack.
  3. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) It gets really frustrating when people argue both sides of the fence to advocate their positions. So Vazquez sucks because of his 100-105 career record, while Freddy still sucks because of his 116-71 record. What the hell sense does that make? Freddy Garcia has a 4.01 career ERA, pitching exclusively in the AL. What the f*** are you talking about? Freddy sucked last year, yes. Vazquez has been an overrated piece of trash basically his entire career.
  4. QUOTE(scenario @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 01:48 AM) And your basing that on... what? Got some facts to go with that opinion? See stats in the table above. Don't just pick out wins/losses since we both know that for the majority of his career Javy pitched for crap teams, so the W/L record alone doesn't mean squat. Career ERA of 4.34, even with his two incredible seasons in Montreal. Career record of 100-105. He's sucked both years he pitched in the AL, also. We're unfortunately in the AL, not in the garbage division that was the NL East when he pitched there. Ooh, he strikes out a lot of guys. Wowie! So does Kerry Wood.
  5. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) Everything is always black and white to you; ever stop to think maybe everything isn't as simple as you make it out to be? Not in this situation. Vazquez is not a winner. He's nothing more than mediocre at best.
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) And do you think there's a reason why Javy was not discussed further? He's older than Garland, he's getting paid more than Garland, and he had a worse year. Under normal circumstances, it would be a no-brainer that you'd trade Vazquez before Garland, especially if given the same package for both. Instead, Williams seemingly didn't discuss anything regarding Vazquez being traded - I wonder why? All that article stated was that the Astros would have been more than willing to give the same package...not that it was discussed. Sounds like a 2005 horse with skin of bronze. Psychological problems can be fixed. Mechanical problems can be fixed. Mediocre stuff problems usually can't. Oh God, I'm so tired of people comparing him to Contreras. Contreras was the greatest pitcher in Cuban history. Vazquez had two good years in a s***ty division in a s***ty league pitching in a huge stadium with absolutely no pressure on him.
  7. I can't believe Vazquez still has so many people fooled. The guy is a born loser. It's obvious in his mental make-up. Javy will never ever live up to his potential.
  8. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) Good. More teams wanting Garland gives us leverage. Or so you'd think. Everyone was supposed to want Garcia, too. All we got for him was a failed prospect and a guy we already had.
  9. What happened to the f'n Wonder Years? One of the greatest shows ever, and it's never on TV. I still can't understand that one. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) whatever happened to Dinosaurs? They went extinct in the last episode of the show. Not sure if it was ever televised, but that's really how it ended. Depressing as hell...
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) Freddy. Won the division clinching game, ALDS clinching game, and World Series clinching game. I voted for El Duque. That inning was absolutely amazing. I love that poster they put in the Sun Times, the one with the timeline of each pitch he threw that inning. Still have it on my computer.
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) Without him, we never win the WS in '05. That team was so special, because everybody did something that cannot be forgotten to help lead them to the promise land. I will never foget game four Freddy, bases loaded and you got out of it. Can Garcia rise up?
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Thursday aka tomorrow. Well, then that probably means there won't be a follow-up to this trade until at least after tomorrow. Maybe it's time to call it a night.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) After hearing how the Sox watched an hour of tape and decided they could fix some of his flaws, it reminds me of this great saying "Don't worry, Coop can fix him". An hour of tape swung their decision in favor of trading for him? Well, that's either incredibly good or extremely bad news.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) The Tigers are going to have some of the same problems with their rotation in 07 as we did in 06. There honestly wasn't/isn't that much out there to make this team better than it already was. If our pitching staff pitches close to what we expect then we're again the best team in the division. That all being said, we could have got more for Freddy and that's what pisses me off about this. So, because the White Sox rotation decided to take a year off of baseball, the same thing will happen with the Tigers?
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) I still think the Indians are going to be a major contender next season. I doubt that, but we still seem set to finish behind the Tigers and Twins again.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) We better not be trading anymore starting pitchers. I'm just very confused about our bullpen....it's arguably weaker now than it was to end last season. We need more depth in the bullpen, as it's crazy to expect MacDougal to stay healthy. Not to mention that the Tigers have gotten considerably better with Sheffield. We seem to be moving laterally, if not slightly forward/backward.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:00 AM) I've calmed a bit as well. Still not very happy with the overall deal, but I over reacted. We all overreacted, and we've all calmed down. But, that doesn't change the fact that this deal was terrible.
  18. The next trade or signing that KW makes will have one of two effects on me. I will either be jumping for joy, or ripping the towel rack off of my wall and smashing my dresser with it. Don't keep me hanging on...make the move as soon as possible.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) Cause at least we'd be getting a 4th outfielder that could help against LHP. This is a disasterous trade...Gavin Floyd stinks. I would have rather we keep Garcia and then risk losing him after this season. Maybe another GM is an idiot and thinks Floyd is worth something (You know, like the best available starter through trade)? That's the best I can hope for right now because this deal looks absolutely terrible. If Rowand isn't involved, we didn't get ANYTHING that helps the team right now. If he is involved, then we at least have a 4th OFer...unless they trade Anderson for a High A-ball closer.
  20. What the f*** is the point of trading for guys that we already had? KW was supposed to rape some team this year, not bring back former players.
  21. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Well you haters got what you wanted. In my opinion it was a mistake to trade Freddy over Garland maybe even Vazquez because his trade value wasn't as high as their's because he only has one year left. What the f*** are you talking about?
