Toby Hall
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) He's played a total of six innings outside of catcher in his career. He won't provide depth unless the White Sox get into another one of those games where like last year in Oakland where Jermaine Dye was the short stop. Didn't Widger play 3rd, too? I think he meant as a DH, though. I can't really see him getting into a game at 1B.

Bears bashing boggles the mind
The Bears lost by 12 against a heavily-favored Colts team. Our QB was responsible for 4 turnovers by himself. Nobody can tell me that we couldn't have won that game. I hear people saying we had no chance from the beginning, but that's hot garbage. If our QB doesn't give the ball to the defense FOUR f***ing times, we probably win that game. EDIT: Sorry, he was responsible for 3 turnovers. We recovered the one fumble. But fumbling 2 snaps in one game is laughably terrible.

Well, I doubt Ozzie would ever replace the catcher for fear of an injury. But, I absolutely love this signing. It just works in so many different ways. I hope he even gets a chance to DH once in a while against tough lefties.

Top 10 Chicago Bears excuses
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) Leno>>>>>>>Letterman I don't think either of them are funny. Conan's the only one that's good, and he's hilarious.

White Sox 5th starter poll
QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) I'm still hoping KW signs a veteran. I haven't heard much interest in Cory Lidle, so maybe KW can work under the radar. He could be the impact player to pilot us to the playoffs. Oooohhhh...terrible

Best of Soxtalk 2006 Nominations
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) Start a fire. (PS: I voted for you.) Thanks for that. I imagine the vast majority of the votes for me are the chat crew...and possibly people voting as a joke, ha.

Best of Soxtalk 2006 Nominations
Just wondering here. The "I told you so" award. Does that mean the people who got nominated often say something like that, or does it mean that people usually say something like that to them for being wrong? Because I am literally always wrong, so I don't get to say "I told you so" very much at all. Also, keep voting for me. I wanna be remembered for something

Reds give Harang 4 years, 36.5 million deal
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) Work took me to Cincy a few times last year and I was able to catch a few games there. It really is a band box where the ball FLIES out. After seeing games there, IMO, Harang can do some chunkin' to put those numbers up. And if I remember correctly, he hurled a pretty nice game against us when we were absolutely crushing the ball.

Best of Soxtalk 2006 Nominations
QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 3, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) I've just discovered this award thread. Had I known about this earlier, I would have definitely nominated some posters for certain categories. I'll make sure to vote. To whoever nominated me for post of the year, thank you. edit: It's a shame santo=dorf wasn't nominated for a category like "best baseballer." I could see him winning a category titled "most independent thinker," or "poster with most supporting evidence." Honorary nomination to beautox and Milkman delivers for a great 2006. For? And thanks.

Fields and Danks in 1st annual ESPN Scouts Inc. top 25
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 12:00 AM) I think what flash wants is a consensus list of the top LH prospects in baseball. The top 6-7, going by what I've seen collected over these intertubes, goes something like this... Elbert (Dodgers) Miller (Detroit) Danks (White Sox) Kershaw (Dodgers) Lofgren (Indians) Gio (White Sox) I feel like I'm missing someone there....Where the top three are the next wave of lefties that we'll see at the major league level, and are pretty much interchangable. Kershaw being the WUNDERkid, representing the best of the class that won't see the bigs for a couple more years. And Gio/Lofgren are the tops of the second wave behind the top 3. The Indians also have Sowers, who just lost his rookie eligibility, and would be ranked right in the middle of the top 3. He's just 3 months to a year a head of them reaching the majors, but profiles more as a Buehrle-type control artist rather than the strikeout guys on this list. Of course you could also toss Sisco back into this mix as a "hidden prospect." His stuff and success in his initial big league campaign would have him among the top 3. He just turned 24 a week or two ago. He's the same age as Sowers with about the same amount of succes at the major league level, but he's got better pure stuff. I really like what you said here. I take it you really liked KW's moves this offseason regarding the young pitching?

QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) Royal Rumble is always top notch in my opinion. Even the worse booked ones (1999) seem to entertain me. I'm pulling for Orton or HBK. The Rumble is easily my favorite PPV. It's just so different from the other events. I'm thinking Undertaker for this Royal Rumble. He just better not have his streak of WM wins snapped by Batista.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 26, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) Maybe, but he shouldn't have been running his mouth in the first place. Running his mouth? For the love of God, he was almost certainly just playing around. I'm pretty sure at some point in my life I said, "I'd give my left nut for the Sox to win the Series." And luckily nobody has ever come to collect on that "promise."

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 26, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) I'm of the opinion that people shouldn't offer things insincerely like that, and certainly not atheletes on TV, public access or not. He should give him the tickets he told him he'd give him, but he won't. Bulls***. Harris should tell this guy to blow him. He was more than generous by offering him a signed jersey and tickets to a game next year.

BEARS in THE SUPERBOWL!
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2007 -> 03:12 AM) It's because he hasn't given himself a self-proclaimed nickname or b****ed at coaches while then following it up with an Irish jig (otherwise known as the Ashlee Simpson two-step) in the endzone. If he was like "YO CALL ME BB, CUZ I'M AS FAST AS A BB OUT OF A GUN" or some other stupid s*** such as that, then he would be loved by everyone from ESPN and his clip would be considered one of the best of all time. It's the same general philosophy that makes Uribe's into-the-stands catch in game 4 inferior to Derek Jeter's dive into the stands, even though only one of them caught the ball WHILE in the stands. Ha, that's so terrible.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 21, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) I gotta say Im glad we arent facing Belichek in the Superbowl. I think the Bears defense will be able to hold back the Colts offense better than the Colts defense will be able to hold back the Bears offense. I'm so glad, though I never thought it'd happen. The Patriots scare the s*** out of me. At least with the Colts, you have the opportunity to run up a score on them and hope you can play defense enough.
