  1. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) Well, when in rome.... Bobby Heenan Mr. Fuji Jim Cornette Paul Bearer Sunny Paul E. Dangerously as an honorable mention Just noticed my list is pretty similar to Milkman's, oh well. Great minds think alike. With managers, though, it's likely that almost everybody will have the same few. That is, if we're around the same age. I'd be willing to bet the older guys will include some of the likes of Blassie and maybe Albano. Since I'm not old enough to have seen or remember them (I assume you are, too), they didn't make my list. The top 4 were easy for me (Heenan, Fuji, Bearer, and Cornette). I had to think a while to come up with Hart. I'd like to add something... THIS THREAD NEEDS TO BE PINNED!!!!!!!!
  2. Wow, like 3 pages of discussion on pessimists, and I wasn't mentioned once. I'm kinda disappointed in myself.
  3. What the hell, my top 5 managers: Bobby Heenan (and there's nobody even close) Mr. Fuji Paul Bearer Jim Cornette Jimmy Hart
  4. Think about this. Ozzie Guillen has said that people earn their roster spots in ST. Boone Logan had a 0.00 ERA in ST. A ZERO ERA. If that's not being a blatant lying sack of horses***, then I don't know what is. I didn't say anything about playing Hall at 1B. I didn't say anything about choosing Erstand AND Pods over Anderson. But, THIS is absolutely insane. Ozzie has personal vendettas against certain players and he allows them to hurt the success of the team. Fact.
  5. f***, apparently "earning" a spot no longer matters on this team. This year is off to a really, really s***ty start.
  6. OK, I actually spent a decent amount of time in class today forming my list (yep, it's sad). My list consists of mainly WWF wrestlers, with a few guys who spent some time in either WCW or ECW. Nobody really from the 80's because I was too young then to appreciate it. Most of these guys are good technical wrestlers with good charisma, but there are certainly a few that make you want to scratch your head. Everybody has a few odd favorites. My top 15, in no particular order: "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig Owen Hart Bret Hart Big Bossman Kurt Angle Fit Finlay Tatanka "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase (and Money, Inc. as a whole) "El Matador" Tito Santana Bam Bam Bigelow HBK (the Rockers as a whole) Ric Flair Eddie Guerrero The Rock My list ended up being around 30 guys, so here's the 15 that didn't make the cut: Steven/William Regal, Kane, British Bulldog, New Age Outlaws, Goldust, JBL (also the Acolytes), Booker T, Big Show, Mountie, Ken Shamrock, Godfather, Cactus Jack, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, and Macho Man I was surprised that only 6 of them in total are dead. Only 10 are still active.
  7. It would be cool for people to post their top 15 or so favorite wrestlers of all time.
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) Nah, I think it kind of taints the whole thing by allowing so many people to get in every year also. I would hold it to 3 or 4. Next year HAS to have Randy Savage and Rick Rude. I don't care what bridges are burned with Savage and Vince, he must get in. I didn't mean Bossman this year, just ever.
  9. I was so optimistic for the season just a few weeks ago. I can't believe how much my view has suffered in just the last couple days.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) With the lack of a big name to induct, I think this year would of been great to induct Hennig AND Rick Rude. Jerry Lawler getting in is a joke. The guy owned his own promotion, gave himself the belt over 30 times, and the only entertaining thing he ever did was the Andy Kaufman thing. Not to mention he is a horrible announcer. I think they're trying to limit the number of dead wrestlers per year to one. Anyone think Big Bossman will get in?
  11. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) Intermittant internet. Hennig = teh awesome. /end LCR = teh awesome Hennig = teh perfection
  12. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) Sisco got rocked today. Logan didn't give up a run, but two more walks...Ozzie was po'ed he walked three the other day in a minor league game, with them all being lefties. Aardsma didn't give up a run, but his ERA is still at 7.20, the exact same as Sisco. Coming into Monday, most would have argued that it would be best to send down Logan, let Floyd start in Charlotte (as first replacement for Danks or an injured or ineffective starter) and keep Sisco and Aardsma, the two "veterans." Any hunches on how things will end up? I think they have to decide the final roster tonight or tomorrow morning before they head off for ATL. It seems that it would be pretty hard to pass on Logan after he didn't give up a single run in "regulation" games and only one in a minor league game, I think it was over the weekend. Who said that? From what I recall, most people have been wanting Logan to be the second lefty.
  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) I didnt want to say "Yeah, I figured you would like that" I know your man-crush on Hennig. Its well deserved. Although I was hoping for an intro by Bret Hart, they were best friends after all I thought it might have been Hart, but that was only a long shot with how much Bret hates the WWE. It was probably all he could do to just show up last year.
  14. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) I still think him playing 1st wasn't that big of deal...a professional baseball player should be able to play 1st base and not break themselves. They have at least seen others do it for 10-15 years of them playing on all levels. This coming from someone who *did* play for upwards of 10 years. I was an OF but sure as hell wouldn't have fell over and snapped a leg off if I went and played SS or something. It is really just a freak accident that in no way could have been predicted, blaming Ozzie is somewhat ignorant. Hinesight is 20/20 you know. So, like a left fielder should be able to come into a game and close it out? I mean, he's seen others do it for 10-15 years on all these different levels.
  15. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) Not that it would ever happen but what if Buehrle signed with the cubs this offseason and Zambrano with the sox. LOL The White Sox would be better off than the Cubs.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) http://rajah.com/base/node/7573 Perfect getting inducted by Wade Boggs. Pretty damn cool. That part at the end about Hennig saving Boggs' life is awesome. I know I am biased here, but I can't believe nobody's responded to this ^
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) He's a guy with a deceptive delivery and gaudy minor league stats in the lower levels. Scouts never really liked him and called him a back of the rotation guy, but the stats said different... until he started pitching at the higher levels of baseball. The scouts were right. He's a back end of the rotation, back of the bullpen guy, and could even end up as a AAAA player. Thanks, didn't know that. The last I heard of him was that he was good, which threw me off seeing him traded for Jorge Julio.
  18. Wait, isn't Petit supposed to be really good?
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 08:36 AM) To me, Erstad's getting those AB's to try and justify him getting that starting spot when he doesn't deserve it. Hell isn't BA even outproducing him in spring training so far stats wise? And sure injuries have been a big problem for Erstad. But he's only posted a +.700 OPS season twice since 2000. Compare that to Iguchi in the #2 hole who's had OPS's of .780 and .774. What if moving Gooch down the order doesn't work and he struggles? Do you move him back up to the #2 spot, and what does that mean for Erstad? Best case scenario for Erstad IMHO he puts up something close to his 2004 numbers, .295/.346/.400. I just don't think there's a great chance of that happening. If Erstad put up those numbers, I would absolutely love to have him leading off.
  20. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 07:40 AM) "I've definitely brought this upon myself, so I deserve to have to do what I'm doing," Anderson said. "I shouldn't have had anything handed to me." I give credit for Brian understanding what is going on. When a guy has two veterans ahead of him--[and most importantly for the Sox, two top of the order guys; if the sox only needed a number 8 hitter, Brian would be fine in CF]--and is coming off a horrible year when he was given a lot of time to develop--more than most teams who expect to make the playoffs--he's got to battle day in and day out. One good spring by a 25 yr old 2nd yr player isn't going to outdo years of proven production by two veterans. The right call is having Pods and Erstad as starters to start the year. Anderson will be given the next shot WHEN one of the two get hurt or suck. I remember reading a few days ago quotes from Ozzie saying he thought BA would be a superstar in this league. That kind of talk goes against the prevailing thought that Ozzie has it "out" for Anderson. And to refer to both Pods and Erstad as proven veterans is stretching, I'd say. At most, they've both just proven that they're not very good.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:10 PM) I was just commenting on how many games Hall was likely to play. That's all. Oh, I realized that. I was just trying to hammer my point in, ha. No offense.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) 2 games is about right. I doubt it would have been much more than that, unless he played at first. AJ wasn't going to put up with playing in half, or slightly more than half of the games in a week. Even at just two games, that adds up to a whole lot of games throughout the season. And for anyone to shrug this off is retarded. Who would people say is a better back-up C in baseball than Hall was in position to be this year?
  23. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 06:00 PM) Adam Russell traded for Sandy Alomar. j/k Good save with the "j/k," I damn near threw a chair into my computer.
  24. I don't even care who's fault it is anymore. It happened and there's nothing to change that. I'm just angry that people are brushing this off like it meant s***. This is a big loss. Toby Hall was the biggest move of the offseason. We finished in 3rd place last year. We need to get BETTER, not move laterally with garbage back-ups like Wiki or Alomar. The focus should be who we can pick up somehow to lessen this blow. The only guy that comes to my mind is Miller up in Milwaukee. We desperately need a catcher that can hit lefties and can call a good game.
  25. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Name one player, off the top of my head without making a trade: Javy Lopez Secondly, I've seen them play enough, I have MLB.TV and watch almost every game. How many games was Hall going to play in a week, the max, 1. Therefore, it is a lost, but it's not the end of the world, calling for Ozzie head, etc. You people need to relax a little bit. Not the end of the world. Javy Lopez is as much of a catcher as Mike Piazza is. And the max for games a week was not 1, you're just wrong.
