  1. I really enjoyed God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater (or Pearls Before Swine, if you didn't believe that I read it). RIP. This is a huge loss to the world of literature.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) That game was against the Cubs, and it was Buehrle's first real, real, real bad game last year. He just got shelled. Are you sure he isn't talking about the game against the Twins where he ended up getting the win?
  3. Had to leave during the top of the 9th. When I came back, I was a little more than weary of checking the score. Great win. Great pitching. Timely hitting.
  4. Wow, walked away from the computer for 2 seconds. Awesome...
  5. Damn fine performance, Mark. Damn fine. I'm suddenly pleased with our pitching, besides our soft tossing closer. I just wish our hitters would earn some of their checks.
  6. Pods is so damn fast...I'm surprised he's ever doubled up.
  7. QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) See, this is the prototypical Soxtalk post after a game like this. It's Pods fault. It's Ozzie's fault. No. It's f'ing Jenks fault! I watched 7 innings of Jon Garland pitch his ass off and manage to avoid "ground balls through the infield." Stop looking everywhere to place blame, when it's so obvious where the blame needs to be placed. Jenks didn't get the job done, and he blew the damned game. Not Ozzie. Not Podsednik. Jenks. Players have to perform. Performing does not include playing decent defense apparently, though. And managers have to perform, too.
  8. You're blind if you can't see that the blame falls mostly on Ozzie, Jenks, and Pods with a little tip of the cap to the middle of the order.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:43 AM) Wow, I hate him. So ridiculous. And you just know he doesn't actually believe what he says. He's a flat out liar.
  10. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 02:02 AM) I just don't see how Ozzie would get all the blame for this one when Jenks was pitching so s***ty. If you're an Ozzie-hater, you have to reeeeeeally stretch to blame this loss all on Ozzie or most of the blame on Ozzie and Podsednik over Jenks. Oh, they're all to blame. But listening to those supporting Ozzie, one would think all the blame is being heaped on him. We're spreading the blame around quite well.
  11. It basically comes down to this. If you defend Ozzie for everything he does, then you have to reeeeeeally stretch to make an excuse here. If you are anybody else on the face of the Earth, you see he made a mistake mostly because he's pig-headed and severly dislikes Brian Anderson.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:32 AM) It's tough to say. Ozzie should have brought in BA or Pablo, sure, but either way, it doesn't guarantee that Bradley is out at home. Then again, I'm 95% sure I could have thrown out Bradley from the distace Pods tried to. Ask SoxAce if you don't believe me. Chances don't mean squat really. Thats just your way of saying "I'd be less pissed if it was BA or Erstad that missed the throw home." Give it a rest, and L is and L. That's ridiculous. Screw it, then. Throw Iguchi or Cintron out in left because even though the chances are that they'll play a worse outfield than Pods, chances don't mean squat. Why should we give it a rest when our manager does not put our team in positions to win and blatantly lies about giving Anderson a chance to win the CF job and playing him as a defensive replacement?
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:20 AM) I can't say this is pinned on Ozzie alone. To say he should have kept MacD in is silly. He's the set up man, Bobby is the closer. He didn't have his stuff. Not much you can do. Pods...yes, he messed up, but it really isn't his fault he was out there. I'll agree BA probably should have been in, but even if he was, Erstad would likely have gone to left, or maybe they bring Pablo is. No matter what, you can't guarantee either is going to throw Bradley out. It's a tough loss, sure, but it's not the end of the world. All you can do is hope Mark gets them tomorrow and the offense steps it up a notch or twelve. No, but I can guaran-f***ing-tee that the chances would be better. Ozzie should know that and go with the odds, not his gut or pure hatred of Brian Anderson.
  14. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:16 AM) There's NO WAY IN HELL the ball didn't hit the wall first. The replays will confirm it. It bounced off his head on the rebound. And Canseco is a huge guy, Pods isn't. Does Canseco have a more muscular "top of head" than Pods? Is it more boney? I've seen pre-teen kids get hit in the melon with baseballs and have it hardly phase them.
  15. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:10 AM) Umm...because there's rubber padding out there and Pods hit the wall at the same time, so the padding was pushed inwards, creating more of a downward trajectory for the ball when it hit. If it landed directly on his head, he would have been knocked out. Are you f***ing serious? I mean, are you dead f***ing serious? And I can recall a few guys taking flyballs off the head, and none were knocked out.
  16. WILL KENNY OR SOMEBODY IN THE MEDIA PLEASE CALL OUT OZZIE FOR OBVIOUSLY HAVING A PERSONAL GRUDGE AGAINST ANDERSON!??!
  17. Ozzie has contributed directly to one loss already, and it's 7 games into the season. Also, take Jenks out of the closer role until he can throw hard again. MacDougal would look very good in that spot right now.
  18. Maybe we shouldn't let the fats*** close until he can throw a decent fastball? MacDougal doesn't seem to be having much trouble at all...
  19. This is exactly the kind of thing that leads to us losing in Oakland.
  20. QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) anyway DJ can get fired and Blackjack get his job? How about Blackjack takes Hawk's job? DJ is clearly the better announcer of the two now.
  21. AJ has been nothing short of AWFUL so far this year.
