  1. I wonder how the Sox rated in the STD category. Is it like golf where the lower the score, the better? I would hope so.
  2. Won't lie, I got a little misty-eyed watching the induction. It was awesome how the fans chanted "Mis-ter Per-fect" for a few minutes there.
  3. Has Ozuna improved in LF at all since last year? I haven't been able to watch any ST games.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) I'm not sure how old you are, but there's always one or two songs in each film where I think: OMG, I remember that song and I haven't hread it in a long time. They're kinda like a random B side classics collection of his favorites. In this film, there is sometimes a direct connection between the lyrics and what is happening in the story. I'm 21. And I've noticed the connection between the songs and the plot of the movies.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) C.C., Sowers, Hafner, Sizemore, Dellucci, VMart, and possibly Barfield (I think he's going to thrive away from San Diego). I agree with you on all but Martinez and Barfield. We just couldn't have Victor as our catcher. He's absolutely awful. And I'd take Iguchi for this year, though Barfield may be better in time. Hafner for sure over Thome, though. I bet a lot of people wouldn't want to say that.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) You know milk I was gonna suggest you go and get tickets and see the ceremony. I think they're actually selling them at face value on EBAY unlike last year, when Bret Hart got inducted. Ha! Oh man, I'd go, but then I'd have to fly out and I'm a poor college kid. It's funny that I actually crossed your mind when you saw it. It seems everyone on the board knows about my unhealthy obsession. That can't be good.
  7. I am way more excited for the induction tonight than you would believe. I'm gonna get hammered and watch every second in awe. It's gonna be great.
  8. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) Good deal for both sides. Sox give him the three year committment and he gives the Sox a break of a million or two each year. Let's hope that's what actually happens b/c Tad is an invaluable player for us, can bat anywhere in the order, never complains (maybe cause he doesn't speak english,) gives us a solid hitter, you know what your gonna get #'s wise and fields his position. Please be true. JD s gonna be the hardest one since he has played out his contract as the biggest bargain in baseball, so noone can fault him if he wants to go get his last big payday. IF he does leave the Sox for more money, nobody should be pissed cause he came year in 2005 for less money than elsewhere and never made a stink about making $5 million per year when he clearly was worth mid teens last year. Absolutely agree about Dye. And of course, I'd love to re-sign Iguchi. Hell, he's better than a few pitchers that are actually on the team.
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 02:42 AM) It took a really long time to get going, so I didn't really care about the characters once it finally took off. Sandler has potential for serious, dramatic roles. As a music lover, I like that he makes a point of including his favorite music in all of his films......especially this one. I agree, rental. The soundtracks to all of his movies are always awesome. One of the best soundtracks, though, has to be the Devil's Rejects.
  10. Wow, ask and you shall receive (maybe I hold some power around these parts) Thanks, man.
  11. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) Well, when in rome.... Bobby Heenan Mr. Fuji Jim Cornette Paul Bearer Sunny Paul E. Dangerously as an honorable mention Just noticed my list is pretty similar to Milkman's, oh well. Great minds think alike. With managers, though, it's likely that almost everybody will have the same few. That is, if we're around the same age. I'd be willing to bet the older guys will include some of the likes of Blassie and maybe Albano. Since I'm not old enough to have seen or remember them (I assume you are, too), they didn't make my list. The top 4 were easy for me (Heenan, Fuji, Bearer, and Cornette). I had to think a while to come up with Hart. I'd like to add something... THIS THREAD NEEDS TO BE PINNED!!!!!!!!
  12. Wow, like 3 pages of discussion on pessimists, and I wasn't mentioned once. I'm kinda disappointed in myself.
  13. What the hell, my top 5 managers: Bobby Heenan (and there's nobody even close) Mr. Fuji Paul Bearer Jim Cornette Jimmy Hart
  14. Think about this. Ozzie Guillen has said that people earn their roster spots in ST. Boone Logan had a 0.00 ERA in ST. A ZERO ERA. If that's not being a blatant lying sack of horses***, then I don't know what is. I didn't say anything about playing Hall at 1B. I didn't say anything about choosing Erstand AND Pods over Anderson. But, THIS is absolutely insane. Ozzie has personal vendettas against certain players and he allows them to hurt the success of the team. Fact.
  15. f***, apparently "earning" a spot no longer matters on this team. This year is off to a really, really s***ty start.
  16. OK, I actually spent a decent amount of time in class today forming my list (yep, it's sad). My list consists of mainly WWF wrestlers, with a few guys who spent some time in either WCW or ECW. Nobody really from the 80's because I was too young then to appreciate it. Most of these guys are good technical wrestlers with good charisma, but there are certainly a few that make you want to scratch your head. Everybody has a few odd favorites. My top 15, in no particular order: "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig Owen Hart Bret Hart Big Bossman Kurt Angle Fit Finlay Tatanka "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase (and Money, Inc. as a whole) "El Matador" Tito Santana Bam Bam Bigelow HBK (the Rockers as a whole) Ric Flair Eddie Guerrero The Rock My list ended up being around 30 guys, so here's the 15 that didn't make the cut: Steven/William Regal, Kane, British Bulldog, New Age Outlaws, Goldust, JBL (also the Acolytes), Booker T, Big Show, Mountie, Ken Shamrock, Godfather, Cactus Jack, Chris Jericho, Undertaker, and Macho Man I was surprised that only 6 of them in total are dead. Only 10 are still active.
  17. It would be cool for people to post their top 15 or so favorite wrestlers of all time.
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) Nah, I think it kind of taints the whole thing by allowing so many people to get in every year also. I would hold it to 3 or 4. Next year HAS to have Randy Savage and Rick Rude. I don't care what bridges are burned with Savage and Vince, he must get in. I didn't mean Bossman this year, just ever.
  19. I was so optimistic for the season just a few weeks ago. I can't believe how much my view has suffered in just the last couple days.
  20. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) With the lack of a big name to induct, I think this year would of been great to induct Hennig AND Rick Rude. Jerry Lawler getting in is a joke. The guy owned his own promotion, gave himself the belt over 30 times, and the only entertaining thing he ever did was the Andy Kaufman thing. Not to mention he is a horrible announcer. I think they're trying to limit the number of dead wrestlers per year to one. Anyone think Big Bossman will get in?
  21. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) Intermittant internet. Hennig = teh awesome. /end LCR = teh awesome Hennig = teh perfection
  22. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) Sisco got rocked today. Logan didn't give up a run, but two more walks...Ozzie was po'ed he walked three the other day in a minor league game, with them all being lefties. Aardsma didn't give up a run, but his ERA is still at 7.20, the exact same as Sisco. Coming into Monday, most would have argued that it would be best to send down Logan, let Floyd start in Charlotte (as first replacement for Danks or an injured or ineffective starter) and keep Sisco and Aardsma, the two "veterans." Any hunches on how things will end up? I think they have to decide the final roster tonight or tomorrow morning before they head off for ATL. It seems that it would be pretty hard to pass on Logan after he didn't give up a single run in "regulation" games and only one in a minor league game, I think it was over the weekend. Who said that? From what I recall, most people have been wanting Logan to be the second lefty.
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) I didnt want to say "Yeah, I figured you would like that" I know your man-crush on Hennig. Its well deserved. Although I was hoping for an intro by Bret Hart, they were best friends after all I thought it might have been Hart, but that was only a long shot with how much Bret hates the WWE. It was probably all he could do to just show up last year.
  24. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) I still think him playing 1st wasn't that big of deal...a professional baseball player should be able to play 1st base and not break themselves. They have at least seen others do it for 10-15 years of them playing on all levels. This coming from someone who *did* play for upwards of 10 years. I was an OF but sure as hell wouldn't have fell over and snapped a leg off if I went and played SS or something. It is really just a freak accident that in no way could have been predicted, blaming Ozzie is somewhat ignorant. Hinesight is 20/20 you know. So, like a left fielder should be able to come into a game and close it out? I mean, he's seen others do it for 10-15 years on all these different levels.
  25. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) Not that it would ever happen but what if Buehrle signed with the cubs this offseason and Zambrano with the sox. LOL The White Sox would be better off than the Cubs.
