  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2805155 Orton, Edge, Helms, Mysterio, Angle, and Eddie Guerrero tied to the same drug scandal as Gary Matthews, Jr. I shouldn't be surprised by any of them, but Edge surprises me the most. And Mysterio doesn't surprise me at all, for some reason.
  2. So, are they gonna induct anyone else to the Hall of Fame? I watched last night (which sucked) just to see who was next, and there weren't any new inductees.
  3. QUOTE(Damen @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) 81 Wins. 4th place. We have too many holes this year, and the AL Central is too strong. If Contreras stays healthy, Buerhle rebounds, Garland remains in 05/6 form, Vazquez can get past the sixth inning, Podsednik does something good, Erstad plays like he hasn't in years, Uribe improves his OBP, Dye doesn't regress too far, and Thome stays healthy/productive all year, then we can win the Central. You actually believe that all of those things need to happen for us to win the Central? That's f***ing ridiculous.
  4. QUOTE(ptatc @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) Chris Farley was an absolutely funny guy in college. I used to go out drinking with him. He was a great guy. I heard the drugs and such changed him when he hit it big but I really enjoyed hanging arounmd with th guy. I actually know a guy who also went to college with him and spent a lot of time with him. He has some hilarious stories about him.
  5. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) it sure would be nice to know that all the 4 horsemen are locked up. i expect a big year out of javy.... still on the fence when it comes to mark... i hope he is able to come back strong after that piss poor second half. The 4 Horsemen are Contreras, Buehrle, Garcia, and Garland. I should say "were."
  6. QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Brian Anderson cannot be compared to Delmon Young, I don't believe mccarthy can either but i know many people think hes an ace. Joe Crede was semi young when ozzie came in and there was no guff there, and crede is the best 3bagger in the game now. Also ozzie has always shown a lot of the suppor towards juan uribe and he shot a guy. So i think ozzie has plenty of skills with younger players, he just doesn't like BA and BMac, and probably for good reason. Personally i think brian anderson is too worried about his looks, he adjusts his helmet about 10 times before gettin in the box. HA!
  7. Happy Birthday! (Lots of birthdays recently, I've noticed)
  8. Was it last year that Buehrle thought he broke his ankle or whatever it was? Or was that before the 2005 season?
  9. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 01:58 AM) yes, tricep not bicep. Hey, what's one cep more or less between friends? And this whole thread has gotten rather silly. To Rowand and everybody else on the opposite side of thinking here, I believe the original comment that set this all off was J4Life innocently saying "I hope he gets [#500] against us" Then all of the silly scenario playing came out, with Rowand saying "no you don't" and others saying 'well what if it resulted in a loss that cost us a playoff berth?'. . . yada yada. . . Focking-A. No, there isn't anybody on this site that cheers over a Sox loss, or puts a former player ahead of the current team. But get some perspective. It's going to touch a lot of us to see Frank get #500, and if it happened at the Cell where thousands of lifelong Sox fans who grew up watching the man play could feel they were a part of it, that seems kinda cool to me. But for the record, I promise I only want to see it happen if: A ) it doesn't cost us the game, or B ) it costs us the game but doesn't affect the standings and/or C ) it doesn't eliminate our playoff chances or D ) it doesn't occur in post-season competition or E ) it doesn't result in so much excessive cheering that it shakes the rivets out of the stadium and we all fall to our untimely deaths Given all of those conditions, yes, it would be cool to be there if it happened in Chicago. My Cousin talks about seeing Denny McLain pitch at Comiskey in April of 1968, beating us in the second game of a double-header in a year where the Sox didn't win their first game until almost the end of that month. He doesn't dwell on the fact that the Sox lost the game (and they did that 95 times that year). Instead he talks about being there to see a pitcher who grew up on the South Side and went to Mt. Carmel win one game during his historic 31-win season. That's a pretty cool memory to have. If I was lucky enough to see Frank hit #500 at the Cell – even with a (*gasp*) Sox loss (so long as it didn't knock us out of playoff contention or somehow otherwise instantaneously cause us to lose every game for the rest of eternity) then, yeah, I think in 20 years I'd remember being at the game where Frank Thomas cemented his spot as a first-ballot HOFer a bit more than the fact that we dropped a game to the Blue Jays that day. That wouldn't count anyway.
  10. It might just be my computer, but the times of posts are all wrong. I noticed the site wasn't working earlier for me, so maybe something got screwed up?
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 06:30 AM) Saw in the Trib notes section that Geoff Jenkins may be traded. Seems Brewers want to platoon him with Mench, he wants to play everyday. Can he play LF? I know he wouldn't leadoff, but if Pods is going to be Pods Circa 2006, then they can figure something else out. I just looked at his stats, and I thought he was much worse than he really is. The guy can definitely take a walk.
  12. I'm actually starting to think that Erstad starts the season off as the LF and never loses the job.
  13. OK, just sitting around and watching anything on tv to pass the time. And now I'm wondering, how the hell did The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen get made?
  14. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Ah, c-mon you guys it ain't so bad! Wow, that looks like a guy I went to high school with.
  15. Extremely glad he came to camp in shape.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) You get free drinks as well, so that's probably why, but still 50 bucks works for me. You'd be proud Milkman, our team name was actually 'The Perfect Team' after Mr. Perfect because we were just playing Smackdown vs. Raw. You just jumped up a few notches in my book.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 02:31 AM) I just won 50 bucks by winning a 32 team beer pong tournament tonight. I love college. 32 teams, and the payout was only $50?
  18. Maybe after having his minor league system criticized for so long, KW is now determined to prove how good it is by making sure he finds these minor leaguers spots on the team.
