  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) Most of us care about Brian because we believe he is the best option we have to play center and he's got completely raw deal here. Simple enough? What do you know? You're just a kid.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:59 PM) That's the funny part. You can't seem to have a differing opinion without it being blown up into something it is not. I was one who loved the deal to get Thome, and the fact that it meant Frank was moving on. I still think Thome is a great player, and will have a great year, he just hasn't done anything big so far, but really no one on the offensive side of the game has been clutch except for Uribe. Like having the opinion that Ozzie is not that great of an in-game manager who holds grudges? Because when you have that opinion, you just clearly hate him blindly.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) If you need a 4-3 putout, you know who you're going to. The man is a beast in that respect. He is the zenith which oft-injured, weak, LH hitters aspire to.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) The #2 hitter shouldnt be the huge RBI machine that our vaunted middle of the order is supposed to be. Otherwise I would have included the 7 and 8 hitter. Yes, he would. In fact, it will happen. I'd be way more willing to bet that Terrero comes up and takes 90% of the at bats (as it is now with Erstad/Anderson).
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) Is it really that outlandish to believe there's a single manager in baseball right now who would start the 25 year old over the 33 year old? I don't think any of this has to do with anyone being the devil. I'd be willing to be there's more than one. Their production would be about similar right now, with Anderson having the much higher ceiling for this, and many more years to follow. Anderson plays a better defense (despite Erstad's god-like, unparalleled reads ), has a better arm, has more power, and is cheaper. Erstad can steal better and is unquestionably the guy I want up there if we need a ball to not leave the infield and preferably to the second baseman. Oh, and injuries. Let's not forget those.
  6. What do you think would happen if Erstad actually does get hurt? Would Ozzie definitely make Anderson the starter? Think about that question. I don't really trust him to even start BA in that situation.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) under ANY manager he belongs in AAA. Erstad has shown the ability to bunt, you have to give him that. His leadership may also be a benefit. I wouldnt pay too much attention to batting stats at this moment, as the whole team cant do anything at the plate. You need to wait a least a month to make any offensive judgement on Erstad. Yeah, I seriously doubt that.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) No, he needs to be sent down. Its apparent to anyone who has watched his at bats that he needs some more seasoning. His reads in the OF havent impressed me either. Erstad's reads and jumps are much better than BA's. He needs some AAA time until Erstad breaks his leg, then he can play full time. More seasoning? How about just more at bats that maybe are much less sporadic and against some of the better LHP in the AL? And let's not go down on Erstad and his defense just yet. Anderson was supposedly having one of the best defensive seasons for a CF in about 100 years last season. And again, I would be willing to bet Anderson's reads would look a lot better if he played once in a while.
  9. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:01 PM) dunno....Brian saves hits and saves runs. What he lacks with the bat he makes up for in the field. He at the very least deserves more of an opportunity than he has been given to show if his approach has improved. If grindErstad was exceeding expectations I can see not pulling him. But Erstad has more at bats that anyone on the team including spring training. He should be the most comfortable at the plate and he's not. Besides, Erstad could always be there on the bench for when we need that crucial groundout to the 2B late in a game.
  10. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) Who the hell cares about Brian Andersen. He is nothing, he will not get us to the playoffs nor might he be anything other than what he is. I know people like him because he is young, a surfer dude, who acts kool, but the guy is a non entity. Really who cares. Move on he is a fringe player. Yeah, that's it...
  11. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 01:19 AM) So Phil Leotardo's going to try to become boss right? Also that whacking with Silvio was weird. I wasn't sure what was happening at first. I'll have to watch it again. Can you explain what happened? Honestly, I haven't watched the show normally for a few seasons, but I always follow what happened online. I think in the end, of the four mob characters that I consider the biggest (Tony, Paulie, Silvio, and Christopher), Silvio will be the one to live. He just always seemed to me to be the best person of them all, and that might be his saving grace in the end. Christopher's the only one of the others who I feel may end up living.
  12. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 06:06 PM) Joe Crede is going to win the AL MVP this year. Just not for the first two weeks of april. I'll take that bet.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) I've said this all along: our 3rd baseman is incredibly overrated, our catcher's bat speed has been drastically reduced, our 2nd baseman struggles against LHP, and we have the worst LF and worst CF in all of baseball. We have no ace on our pitching staff that we can count on to go out there and shut teams down. If Jenks doesn't get his velocity up, then we have issues at closer. We're a solid team, but we've fallen down a far way from Hawk saying we were the most talented team in 2006. Perhaps we really should have traded him this past offseason. We would've gotten great value for him.
  14. Put Iguchi back in the number two slot. It's becoming obvious that he can't make the transition to the lower end of the order.
  15. Aardsma has easily been the best surprise of the year, though all the pitchers have been pleasantly surprising (minus Jenks).
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) It boggles my mind how bad of a manager he is. Hey, he's got a ring.
  17. Contreras may get tagged with a loss after giving up no runs and one hit. That's disgraceful.
  18. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm very glad that Scott Boras is Crede's agent. I really want no part of him in the future.
  19. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) Sabathia is going 9 today....(jinx?) He's got 56 pitches through 5 innings. It's quite possible.
  20. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) wow...the indians announcers are basically laughing at our lineup You wanna know why? .125 .194 .216 .212 .225 .192 .273 .167 .000 That's our f***ing lineup.
  21. Remember how good the offense was last year? We could probably have that exact same offense if Ozzie would just make a change or two in the batting order. But, since our pitching is doing well, he must feel it necessary to offset that advantage in order to be nice to other teams.
