  1. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) I just wonder how much the Sox are willing to spend on a new LF or SS when Uribe and Pods are fairly cheap. Crede is due a raise and all the escalating contracts will go up next year, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Well, trading any one of our starters would free up about $10 million, depending on whether or not the other team takes on the whole contract. I'm not sure exactly how much Crawford makes, and I know Crede won't be getting a ridiculous amount of money. So, I doubt the payroll would have to increase that much.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) You had me until Sweeney.....between Dye and Thome's age (Dye will be a good hitter for another several years, but his play in RF is making me think he'll end up taking Thome's spot at DH), I think letting Sweeney go wouldn't be such a smart idea. Sweeney is the last guy I want to get rid of, but I was just throwing that out there.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) Not a bad idea, however I don't know if we could get enough for Freddy to offset the price we'd give up for Crawford, and plus our system is already looking depleted in depth at the moment. Well, we're already locked up at most positions for a while. Getting Crawford would make Fields obsolete, especially since we have rights to Crede through 2008. Broadway doesn't seem to have a place on this team for a while since the starters are locked up through 2007. And even though most people don't want to see him go, Sweeney might be useless to us, too, if we give Dye an extension. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) The Angels tried to get Crawford this year and were told that they'd need to give up Ervin Santana and Brandon Wood. We'd have to give up more than one prospect. It'd probably cost 2 of our best prospects plus B-Mac. Like I said, it'd cost us at least one of our top prospects. We'd then add on the prospects we get for Garcia and maybe even Pods.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) My co worker was at yesterday's game and said Anderson threw a ball into the CF stands and that a Tiger's fan caught it and threw it back at BA, barely missing him. I guess a few Sox fans pounded this guy until security arrived and kicked him out. Anyone see this? There's no justice like angry-mob justice.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) All fair points. They also have a ton of position prospects at every position in their system, however that means it's going to take a steep price of young pitching to get him. I think their FO is a little more trade-friendly than they were last year with that douchebag GM they had. Sure, it's going to be a steep price, but it'd be for a premier LF and leadoff hitter in baseball who's only getting better. It'd take at least one of our best prospects, but hopefully we'd get some good prospects in return for Freddy. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Lugo would be a nice pickup although I think he's going to get 8 millin dollars a year and he might not be worth that for long. Uribe is actually a worse player than cesar Izturis so batting him 1 or 2 would be suicide in the standings. As far as locking up Crede goes, Boras doesn't do that. For anyone. He will test FA. Next year's leadoff hitter is not on this team yet in my opinion I'd rather have the s***ty offense of Uribe than the s***ty defense of Lugo.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) I don't know why Crawford would be available, isn't he signed at a fair contract for a player of his calibur through like 2010? The Devil Rays could move him considering they have about 14 OFers on the team or ready to be promoted. We could trade some of our own prospects with prospects we acquire for Garcia, and hopefully there you have it.
  7. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Will he be a free agent? No.
  8. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) Let Pods go and sign Carlos Lee. Rectify the mistake that we made two years ago. I don't know why people keep saying this. Carlos Lee will never ever play for the White Sox again.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) Because of the capacity, that is going to be nearly impossible to get. Not necessarily. The capacity is 39,000 and something, plus there are the SRO tickets. With a chase for the playoffs coming, I can see it happening.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Gage would too.
  11. Like everyone said, 3 of 4 is what we need. Anything else is just gravy.
  12. I'm beginning to think we'll go all out to try to acquire Crawford this offseason.
  13. What a game. Walkoff homer by Russ Martin in the 10th. Final score, 1-0.
  14. The Reds, though I'd like to see the Rockies make it.
  15. Um, what ever happened with Jeff Nelson? I know he went on the DL and that he'll never pitch for us again, but shouldn't he have been DFA'd or something like that?
  16. Is it actually possible for Garcia to pitch well down the stretch? He's done it recently, and it'd be gigantic if he could keep it going. Nicely managed game by Ozzie.
  17. Did Uribe screw up the DP ball, or did PK just come off the bag? I decided to listen on the radio while in the pool, and Farmer made it sound like it was PK's fault.
  18. Um, hasn't he hit much better than he did with Pittsburgh? But I agree, our bench is pretty stacked.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) FEARS Remember, he did end his perfect record at WM 6! If Hennig was untalented and a friend of Hulk Hogan, he could've been a much more popular wrestler.
  20. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) but what about Juan? That's still a long range to the right. I agree that Uribe would've had a better chance, but it would've been an extremely tough throw. It probably would've had to have been a perfect laser right to PK, and Uribe has a tendency to bounce them in there.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) MM.. I am in no mood to measure pp's today. I just disagree with your opinion. EOS. Well, I'm only trying to have a little debate here, not measuring pp's. Don't know what MM or EOS mean.
  22. In no way am I saying that Fisk wasn't great. He was one of the best catchers in the history of the game. I'm just saying that being a White Sox great isn't recognized like being a Red Sox great.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Your opinion, which I think is BS, but you're entitled to it. How many White Sox greats get the national attention that Fisk does?
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) Oye... getting a nod cause he played for Boston. Thank you for the material. He should get a good laugh out of that one. If Fisk hadn't played for Boston, he'd just be another White Sox HOFer that nobody outside of Chicago really considers one of the greats. Since he played for the Red Sox, he gets mentioned in the same breath as guys like Bench and Berra. If he played only for Chicago, he'd be in the same group as Appling, Fox, and hopefully Baines. Guys that were some of the greats, but don't get much national credit.
  25. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) Javy worked out of a jam last night in the first when Alex couldn't handle Jeter's ground ball that was ridiculously ruled a base hit and not an error. Granted, it didn't lead to a run, but that was thanks to Javy. But I do have to agree with you in terms of subs, I feel that Cintron is far more competent at short than Mack is in center. Not even close. Jeter is pretty fast. Had Cintron actually come up with that ball, Jeter probably still would've beaten it out considering how far Alex had to go to his right.
