We can never have a game where everything goes right.

Figgins has a RATE of 100 Gathright has a RATE of 110 Erstad has a RATE of 108 I thought these guys weren't supposed to be any good in CF? Taveras has a 114.

Gracias Vernon Wells only has a RATE of 87 this year. That alone makes me question the validity of this stat.

Where do you find that RATE statistic for CF's? I'll go through individually and see who has the best.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 05:39 PM) 8 innings too No, he gave up both of his hits in the same inning. So, he had 7 innings of no-hit baseball.

7 innings of no-hit baseball. Just like Javy to let one inning kill him. /green

Gotta give it up for Vazquez today. That was complete domination.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) Just once, I want to see Tad argue with an ump. That would be awkward for the ump. He wouldn't know what he's saying.
-
Official Game Thread 8/5 - Sox vs Jays
OK, for argument's sake, let's just say that Javy has turned a corner. Why did it take so long, do you think? Maybe Vazquez finally decided to let Coop change whatever he thought necessary, whereas before he wanted to pitch his own way?

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) I feel like that Seinfeld episode where Kramer is driving the car with the salesman to see how far they the needle goes, risking running out of gas. HAHAHAHA That is the best way to put it. It's like that every time Ozzie leaves him in past the 5th.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) What's Ozuna's status? What do you mean? I'm talking about having having Mackowiak replace Pods in the already established platoon of Pods/Ozuna.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) Not if Thome has anything to say about that... Anyway, I can live with 6-4 after Cotts gives up the dong. Is it normal for a team to have every single returning pitcher be worse the year after a WS?
-
Official Game Thread 8/5 - Sox vs Jays
Anyone starting to warm up to the idea of Mackowiak replacing Pods in the LF platoon?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) With a 5 run lead, I say give him 2 baserunners. Well, if we let him give up 2 runners, then it's going to be a 6-4 game when Cotts gives up a homer to the first guy he sees

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) And, interestingly, despite the last few 6th innings, I don't think he should. Especially with a 5 run lead. If he gives up a baserunner or two, pull him. But if nothing else, every out we get out of him saves the bullpen a little more. That's why I said we should pull him with the first runner he allows. And I don't care about his fragile little ego.
-
Official Game Thread 8/5 - Sox vs Jays
At the most, let him give up one hit in the 6th, then pull him. Ozzie will not send a new pitcher out there to start the 6th.

QUOTE(soxunited @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) he's a career .252 hitter, who has gone .077 in his past seven games, he shouldn't be doing well against white sox pitching Yet he always does.
