  1. QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) I'm just kidding around, you're a good poster. I'll kill you.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) His numbers from 03-05 were pretty consistant. After looking, it seems he had a better 2003 than 2005. Still, I'm just a little wary of anybody with Boras as their agent. QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Milkman, ever since you got rid of the Milkman avvie, you seemed to have gotten a new attitude. You seem to have such strong opinions now, but when you had good ol' Herbert in your avvie you just seemed like a good, reliable, unintimidating guy. Now I cower in fear at the sight of your posts. That a compliment or no? QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) His only competition for the Gold Glove this year is Mike Lowell, so Crede is basically sitting on a 50/50 chance of winning one this season. And since Mike Lowell is on the Red Sox...we all know the rest of the story.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Crede is the best infielder on the team, and one of the best hitters. He is a top notch 3B IMO, and shoudl have a GG by the end of his career.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Then why didn't he do this last season? Well, he had a better season last year than any before that, and now he has Thome in the lineup. That helps.
  5. Well, I think part of the reason Crede is having such a monster year is because he's yet to sign a contract extension. I know he's said that he won't let Boras dictate whether he stays or goes, but he's still a Boras client. Those guys seem to have their best years right before signing a contract.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Neither is expected to be in the lineup today, especially Thome. When Thome gets back, I expect him to go on one of his homer tears. I just hope he gets back soon and that nothing lingers.
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Personally for FA, I'd like to trade Buehrle for Oswalt, sign Alex Gonzalez(his defense is always there and he never takes bad offense out there into the field with him) and sign Mulder/Zito. Trade Vaz or Garcia for Scott Linebrink, and sign Rheal Cormier. That sounds like a whole lot of moves to me. Probably too many. Just looked, and I can't believe Gonzalez is batting .284. That is much higher than his career average. I don't really want him.
  8. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) It's probably been asked before, but are we paying all of his contract? If not, how much? The Diamondbacks sent us like 3 or 4 million dollars, or something like that. We're pretty much paying all of it, and that makes me sad
  9. If it's true, we can blame Jose's agent for KW acquiring Vazquez. I now hate this man.
  10. Haha, MacDougal. It's been spelled wrong in about 10 different ways on this site. Also, we need nicknames for both of them. Mac doesn't cut it anymore.
  11. What is the Yankees' current payroll? And how much money do they have coming off of the books after this year?
  12. Wait, does it even say in the article that he may be out for the year?
  13. What kind of deal is Matthews looking at this offseason? And who is his agent?
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) The Red Sox might be interested in signing Chris Widger according to the Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds..._least_a_month/ Wow, I suggested this half-jokingly in the thread in the Diamond Club. Would be funny.
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) Pujols > Ortiz Ortiz is the best in the AL, we'll just say. That way, there shouldn't be any argument.
  16. Chris Widger is available. Now wouldn't that be hilarious?
  17. So, Thornton's left arm is a pastor in the church of Coop?
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Are we confined to looking at this season? Well, it was only a joke. But, whatcha got?
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) Dusty Baker was a ridiculous clutch hitter. Well, I meant currently.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) He's been A LITTLE better on the gun with his fastball lately, but he's still not throwing enough fastball, and the ones he do throw still don't exactly pass the eye test. I hope your right though, if he can get his stuff back somehow he'd be WAY better off obviously. Off topic, but Ortiz is baseball's best clutch hitter.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) Guillen said he can deal with errors, but he thinks the .248-hitting Uribe has recently been taking his offensive struggles onto the field. That's one of the big reasons Alex Cintron started at shortstop Tuesday. "(Uribe) looks like he cares less. I think he's trying to bring his bat to the field ... " Link I'm pretty happy with Uribe this year, minus the defensive miscues he's been having. I think this benching will get his head on straight and we'll see even better D out of him the rest of the year. He's right around .250, which is what I wanted out of him after that terrible start. I think he still has another hot streak in him this year, so I bet he'll finish up with an average possibly in the .260's and about 80 RBI. That's something to be happy with out of the SS position.
  22. Wow, the Royals' starter has a lower ERA than our starter. How often does that happen?
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) The problem is of course that ozzie insists that we need a backup Center Fielder who will start in CF every 3rd game, thus putting one of the worst defensive center fielders in the game out there for us, and costing us at least 1 run it seems every time he's out there. (Last time he was out there, on Sunday, he short-hopped 2 balls Anderson would have had easily, at least one of which turned into an RBI). Wow, exactly what I've been saying. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he costs us every single time.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) Defensively, it is a very significant drop off if he's in CF, which is where he is most of the time. He doesn't seem to get that point. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) Our lack of a back-up CF is absolutely important. It's come back to haunt us about 10 times this season, and we would likely have had 2 or 3 more wins if there was a better defensive option out there. Mackowiak has been excellent at the plate this year...but his defense in CF is absolutely medicore. When you say we have a lot of problems, a lot of them come from our awful outfield defense this season. Our starting pitching has struggled this season, but they've gotten no help from our LF defense and CF back-up. A lot of rallies have started against us do to miscues out there. Thank you.
