  1. QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) the pitch he made to ramirez in the first inning wasnt a bad pitch, and thats where 2 of the runs he gave up came from. it was really low and inside and aram got a lot of it. its like the pitch that politte gave up to whats his face in pittsburgh. sometimes a hitter just beats a pitcher. outside of leaving a pitch one pitch on the outer half of the plate to aram in the 5th, javy did a decent job, although i will say he has much much more room to improve. If you want to defend Vazquez, you probably shouldn't compare him to Cliff Politte.
  2. Didn't Vazquez pitch great his first half with the Yankees (like 2.something ERA), and then pitched so badly in the second half that his ERA was almost 5 for the year? I'm afraid we're going to get that terrible second half again without the great first half to counter it.
  3. There's no other way to it. Vazquez sucked, as he has this entire year. He deserves no defense.
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) Spare me, Vazquez is horrid. I was about to point that out. We shouldn't minimize how terrible he is.
  5. They were talking about this on ESPNEWS. Shouldn't they wait a little while longer to talk about it? There's still 1/3 of the game to go.
  6. Enough of the Contreras comparisons. Jose Contreras pitched for years in Cuba and was regarded as their greatest pitcher. The only time Vazquez has had any measure of success, it was on a crappy team that had no pressure and was also in the NL. Contreras also pitched well almost all of last year (starting the season out very well, but getting screwed by the offense or bullpen a lot). I don't think Jose had an ERA near 5 at any point last year.
  7. Think about how good this team is (emphasis on team). We have the second best record in baseball, and have beaten up on the "best" team, all while overcoming some terrible starting pitching, a once weak bullpen with arms such as Politte and Montero, and a few black holes in the lineup. KW really did a great job in getting this team some depth.
  8. Gload finally contributed to a win. I was wondering when that would happen And AJ's bat slam was the perfect revenge for getting punched in the face and Jones' bat slam.
  9. Haha, and I actually said to my brother during the 9th, "I hope Dye hits a homer here so AJ doesn't have to come up with RISP." Ha, priceless.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) I NEED to find a picture of Dempster's reaction after AJ clobbered that ball Hey, I never said the game was over Plus, he usually is bad with RISP. I'm sure glad he came through this time, though.
  11. I want everyone to think about what just happened...and laugh. Honestly, laugh out loud because this deserves it.
  12. Honestly, I think most people that said the game was over were trying to get a reverse jinx going. On a strange note, I'm not actually one of the people that said it today.
  13. WHITE SOX WINNER
  14. God, I love that hook.
  15. We got Walker, Lee, and Ramirez coming up in the bottom of the 9th. This one's not over yet. Bobby's still gotta shut them down.
  16. "I Am A Cub's Fan, But Seriously This Season Is Ridiculous" That sign was hilarious.
  17. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IT HAD TO BE AJ!
  18. Seriously, I wish Dempster was a good closer. We do better against those ones than we do against s***ty ones.
  19. Well, our worthless leadoff hitter keeps the status quo. He is so f***ing useless.
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) It is a dumb idea to PH a player just to have them bunt unless it is Paul or Thome, in which case they are swinging away no matter what. None of the blame can go on Ozzie there. HE did what ever manager would do. I'm talking about letting Anderson swing away. Forget it for now, though. 9th is on.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) I'm sure we did. But Ozzie expects a major league player to be able to bunt the ball. If BA is that worthless that he can't even get a productive out, it's time to ship him out for awhile. But Ozzie has to know he's not capable of doing it. Yet he still has him throw away an out. Last chance here. Let's get it done.
  22. I like our chances against stud closers than I do against mediocre ones for some reason.
  23. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) What the f*** are you talking about? Every manager in the major leagues bunts in that situation, especially in front of PK. Our team can't bunt. Ozzie has to realize that. There are about 2 guys I'd trust in that situation, and BA ain't one of 'em. I guarantee a lot of us saw him screwing that up.
  24. Sometimes you just gotta wonder why Ozzie does these things. You knew BA would screw up the bunt. And the chances for PK grounding into a DP were high.
  25. Alright, we just have to score a few runs.
