How does the NHL draft even work? Is it like the NFL where it goes according to record, or is it like the NBA?
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Does anyone else worry that two Devil Rays are not the answer? They Devil Rays have great talent on that team, just none as far as pitching goes. Their hitters are really good. That's why I hope they'll flip Baez for something else if they somehow get him and Huff.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) If he was traded to the White Sox, I don't believe he has no trade protection. IIRC when he was a free agent KW pursued him very aggressively. There were many reports saying he would probably sign with the White Sox. If Wagner is not available, and this guy is for a prospect, KW must grab him. Its a no-brainer. Hermanson's back can be a problem at any time. They are going to need someone with a lot of experience closing games, especially and hopefully in the playoffs. For your first sentence, refer to what I said just above your post. And second, I'm not saying we shouldn't get him. I really want him on our team, just it's not set in stone that he'll override a trade to the Red Sox.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) It wouldn't be his choice whether to come here or not. Yes, I know. I'm saying that he won't necessarily use his no-trade clause against the Red Sox if they offered the Mariners a better deal.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) Haha, I read. I guess he doesn't like the AL East or at least the top 3 teams in it. He had a no-trade clause for the Yankees and Red Sox because, at the time, they both had established closers on their team. Eddie has another clause in his contract that gives him more money for closing out more games, I believe. He won't go to the Yankees, IMO. He will, again IMO, accept a trade to the Red Sox if he has the chance. The White Sox have Hermanson, so he might have to share the closer role here, thus he has less incentive to come here. I really wouldn't doubt him accepting a trade to the Red Sox, if they offer the Mariners enough to land him. EDIT: The reason he might not want to come here or New York is because of Hermanson and Rivera. With Foulke being hurt, he might be inclined to go there.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Nevin play the outfield?? or DH?? they got Teixeira at first and Blalock at third. Their weakest position is Nix who plays center....either Hildalgo will move to center or Dellucci will....and Nevin would take a corner outfield or DH spot. And They get good production from their catcher spot too. I see Teixeira can play outfield too....maybe they move him to outfield and Nevin to first Nix is out for the year. I had forgotten all about that. I guess this trade makes a little more sense now.

Another Suspension from Steroids is coming

It's about damn time. I heard a few months ago that a big name would be going down soon, that apparently fell through. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Giambi again. It really looks like he's gone back on the juice in the past few weeks. Not just the good numbers returning, but he's beginning to look bigger again. -
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 07:33 AM) Maybe its a way to help LUIS keep ome confidence by actually finishing a game on the winning side.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) There still needs to be an MRI taken, if anything is torn, he will definetely be out for the year and shame on you people that said . Torii plays the game like it should be, hard. He hustles everything out and if the best CF in baseball. He is like a Sweeney, a class act to baseball. That play on Burke was completely legal, and even drew the praise of Ozzie after the game. Class act my f***ing ass. Burke was a foot off of the baseline and Hunter could've walked in to score. Plus, class acts don't go around yelling, "I'm from the hood...I'm gangsta."

Anyone think the "roadblock" might be KW offering TB more for Huff?

Wagner Rumor from Phillies Post Game

I don't understand why it HAS to be a three-month rental. I'd say there's a fair chance at having him sign an extension, especially if the team is competitive and he likes it here. -
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Tough break for Torii Hunter. Just like it was a tough break for Jamie Burke. Hunter was giving that wall an open view. It was a cheap shot from the wall.

So, anyway, we're all waiting for a trade right now? It's pretty much one day away from the deadline. Things should start getting a little clearer soon.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) G- Sox Win- Min Loss=M Number 162-66-48=48 If I'm doing it right its 48! God Bless the Chicago White Sox No, you start with 163. He was right.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Why did Oz just pull Marte with one out to go? He lives and dies by match-ups. I dunno, did he get any lefties out? I forget who was before Roberts. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Has Soxtalk been crashing on anyone else a little bit more than normal as of late? Yeah, it sure has. I don't like Marte being in for another inning. There's a chance he can lower his trade value. -

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Marte is warming up!! Great, that's fantastic. If he pitches, that means two things: 1.) He's not getting traded today. 2.) He sucks, and he'll give us all a heart attack. Neither are good things. -

Get your s*** together, Politte. This guy is overworked, so let's put him out there for 2 innings? We're gonna ruin him by using him so much. -

Well, since there's a game on, the Sox just left a runner on 1st and 2nd when they had just 1 out. At least we got that homer from Everett. -
