Here it comes. It was nice having a lead for a few innings.

Uh oh, time for Contreras to have his regular "s*** my pants" inning?

With Byrnes being the one throwing that ball, I was almost certain it would be a perfect throw and Iguchi would try to run over the catcher, then he'd get hurt doing so. That's how much Byrnes kills us.

Does Iguchi speak English or Spanish? I didn't think he did. Actually, I've never even heard him speak.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Actually, the thing that excited more about acquiring Omar is seeing what Gooch will do lower in the line-up in a more "run-producing" role. I just can't believe how easy Uribe is making it to get an improvement over him. I cannot believe how stupid that was to swing at the first pitch from a guy that has pitched like 7 innings all year, and it looks like their pen is in some serious trouble.

GOD DAMN IT. Juan Uribe is officially a f***ing retard. We can't get Vizquel here fast enough. Jesus Christ, the first pitch?!

The way they're talking about this pitcher, we better just destroy him.

QUOTE(whitesox89 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) since most of us are in here. I was jw if anyone heard George Offman was on the Score a little bit ago and said the White Sox are still going after Huff but also are now calling Pittsburg about Robb Mackoviak (sp?) I think Mackowiak gets worse every month of the year. Plus, he's batting .1something in July. I don't want him at all.

Isn't it all but certain that either Burnett is going to Baltimore now, or the Orioles are just done for the year?

I hope Cabrera's ok, but this is good for us.

Cmon, Rowand. That ball was a good foot and a half off the plate.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Last Saturday was the first time he was caught stealing since June 3rd. So, a week. How many steals has he had in the last two weeks? After that stat about AJ not making an error in 68 games, who wants to be he makes a costly error today?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) A week isn't that long of a slump, not at all. I'd say it's been more than a week.

Everett reminds me of Valentin when he K's on those low and inside breaking balls. You just know it's coming. Cabrera worked a bit in that inning, though.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) He'll get out of it, just a stolen base slump right now. And this would be his second, fairly long slump of the year. Like I said, he's streaky.

Pods is getting caught way too f***ing much.

A deal w/ the D-Rays makes sense
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) But, let's not kid ourselves here with Baez. He may be a pleasant addition the pen, but he won't add any credibility or deepen the pen depth chart if Marte is included in the deal. That's why I hope we'd turn around and trade him for something else.

ESPN Page 2 guy tired of Trade Deadline
QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) Page 2 MLB Pledge of Allegiance. Pretty good article, I'm tired of rumors and fake saviors. I just want it to be Monday and see where we're at. Here's what he said about our Sox: You don't even have to wait until Monday. After 2 o'clock tomorrow, it's all over. It's just over a day away, and this should be the busiest 24 hours of the day coming up. It'll be gone faster than you think. EDIT: Your avatar is awesome, Soxnbears. That was one of the greatest Simpsons episodes ever.

QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) What's the record for single game steals? Let's see Pods break it. Isn't Cabrera the one that can throw in the high 90's? Strange that he'd be really easy to steal off of. Then again, Contreras comes to mind.

Sox Interested in Guardado
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Not our biggest need, IMO. Politte is fine, especially if Eddie is pricey. Upgrading the pen should be plan C. It's pretty obvious that the pen is getting a little tired and overworked. I'd say that the pen is plan B, at the lowest, with plan A possibly being offense.

NHL Draft Thread
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) more like the NBA... worst teams get higher chance at the number one.... so you cant throw games. without a season, everyone had a chance at the first but the worst teams got a higher chance to get better picks. Ah, gotcha. I don't pay much attention to the NHL, and only a little bit to college when I go to some games. I was wondering why the Hawks didn't have the first pick since they were like the worst team last season, so I figured it had to be like the NBA. Thanks.

NHL Draft Thread
How does the NHL draft even work? Is it like the NFL where it goes according to record, or is it like the NBA?

A deal w/ the D-Rays makes sense
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Does anyone else worry that two Devil Rays are not the answer? They Devil Rays have great talent on that team, just none as far as pitching goes. Their hitters are really good. That's why I hope they'll flip Baez for something else if they somehow get him and Huff.
