  1. Damn it. I hate Crede, but I don't want to see him replaced by Lowell. I want Burnett badly, but I don't wanna have to lose great defense for it. AHHHHHHHHH, why can't this be easy?!
  2. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) THe Marlins beat-writer was just on 670WSCR and confirmed that 12 teams are after Burnett, but the 3 major teams interester are Baltamore, Toronto and the White Sox. He said the Marlins have been interested in Contreras for over 2 years now- and see him as there potential closer. He also said the Marlins want to dump Mike Lowell's contract so would most likely have to be involved with this trade. So this trade would most likely be: Contreras, Marte and Crede for Burnett and Lowell. WOW- thats Blockbuster. I don't know if I like all of that, especially since the Marlins have no money and I assume we'll have to eat a lot of contracts.
  3. When is Dye gonna move up in the order? Our hottest hitter for a few months and he's mired in the 6th spot in the order.
  4. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) I'm almost sure that at some point on AM 1000 I heard that the Sox offered somewhere in the neighborhood of 4/$42 mil and Paulie/his agent haven't made a move on it. I think that's already too much unless he gets his average up quite a bit. Even then I wouldn't be happy about it because of his streakiness. Thanks a lot, I didn't know how to find anything like that. If PK isn't happy with $10.5 million a year, he can go straight to hell. I'm sure he needs to squeeze that other $1.5 million more a year out of someone. He sure needs it, looks like the guy hasn't been eating enough. He's wasting away to nothing.
  5. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Mark my words. If we get a LH reliever it wont be Guardado. It will be Chacin. Chacin's a young LH starter for the Jays. If they want a lot for Lilly, I can't imagine them wanting much less for Chacin. I guess I just don't follow.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) My guess is the Sox will offer Paulie a deal somewhere between 8-10 mill a year for about 3 years. Which I'd call more than fair for him. And if he turns that down to go for more money, Konerko = Maggs in my book. 1B is the easiest position to learn, especially for a guy of Dye's stature and athletic ability. He can learn it and it probably wouldn't be too hard for him. So, it wouldn't say it's far-fetched at all.
  7. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) Far from correct......paulie aint going to be whining over a 4 year 70 mil contract like maggs.....i don't think he was offered an extension yet, i can see him signing here for like 4 years 36-38 mil or 5 years 45-50 mil Somebody here was saying he turned down an offer or two, but I'm not quite sure. I'll wait until somebody says for certain. And both of those contracts you mentioned are way too much for such a one dimensional player. He's not even worth what he makes now. If PK does end up signing with another team for much more money than he's making now, I can't wait to see how people react. If that happens, a lot of people will start to agree with that comparison.
  8. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) why hate konerko it makes no sense????? Without him there is a good chance we wouldnt be in first and another thing...in your sig it says no true an will forget what herbert did????He wasnt that good? am a true fan and i forgot if he was that good hed be on the team...the only memory i have of the 2000 season is getting sweeped by seattle? So why cant you guys jsut accept we have konerko and with him we have the best record, and one of the best 1B in American league, betterthen young, giambi, palmerio, erstad, sexson,Millar or who ever they have at first and whoever plays first for tampa.Hes a solid hitter and solid Deffense and a lot fo you want to get rid of him??To me that makes no sense He's highly overpaid, and it's only going to get worse when he hits free agency. You can love Konerko all you want, but I don't like a guy that hits around .200 with RISP, hits below .250, K's, pops up, or hits a homer in every single at bat. A guy that's slower than I've ever seen a player and has no range at 1B. Sure he gets most of the balls that go at him, but that hardly means he's a good defender because he can't get to anything, ahemDEREKJETERahem. So would I rather have a 1B that can field better, is faster, will hit for a higher average with less power, can do the small things, and comes waaaay cheaper? Yes, and I'd spend the money saved on pitching. Didn't somebody say that Konerko was offered an extension once or twice already? I believe somebody said that. So, I put forward: Konerko = Maggs.
  9. This is all bulls***. Every single one of them is to blame. Clearly the father, but the mother is obviously stupid. "Tooken," c'mon. Then, there's the friend. "Uh, maybe you shouldn't box your son." What the f*** is that? Somebody get off your ass and DO something. God, it just pisses me off. I can guarantee you if I ever saw somebody doing that to their kid, especially one of my friends, his ass would be going to the hospital instead of the kid. Hopefully someone shoots this prick in the head before he ever gets his day in court, so the government doesn't have to waste any more money on him. The mom should go to jail for the rest of her life or die, for all I care. Edit: Sorry for going overboard.
  10. Wow, I'm lucky to see a squirrel on occasion. You guys see a fox, possum, hawk, duck, racoon, and coyote.
  11. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) That's it, I'm starting the no-Paulie Club... Our slogan....'Down with the guy who runs like he has s*** in his diaper' That's kind of a long slogan...any suggestions? I beat you by about a week.
  12. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) Didn't you get the sense that Pods was heating up as well going into the break? He's inching closer to .300. If he and Iguchi have a strong 2nd half...man, watch out. I'm not gonna expect Pods to keep his current pace, but I expect him to put up the same numbers he did in the first half. I attribute a lot of his heating up to be voted into the ASG. You know, a little confidence boost and such. I hope Iguchi gets hot again, he just might considering he's had some time to adjust to all the breaking balls he'll see.
  13. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Still, to go from a midling pitcher, a 5th starter, to club ace is pretty damn impressive. My point is that no one disputes Borchard's potential. He has power from both sides of the plate and speed as well. I'm not saying I wouldn't trade him, that he's untouchable. But I am looking for any kind of boost in the second half that the Sox can get from within. The Brad Fulmer kind of boost the Angels got in 2002. The Cabrera boost the Marlins got the year after. That kind of thing. I'm also going to go on a limb and say that Crede is going to tear it up in the 2nd half. Uribe too. I hope you're right about Crede and Uribe, but I'll never have faith in Borchard again. That guy was a total and complete bust, no other way about it.
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Just curious, did your crystal ball tell you that Jon Garland was going to go from head case to Cy Young candidate in one year? Something clicked for Garland and all those who said he's got great potential have been vindicated. Those same people say the same thing about the switch hitting Borchard. It wasn't an accident that he was the Sox #1 pick. I get the feeling like you think he's sucked in the past therefore he's always going to suck. Garland was always a decent starter, especially for the money he was making. Even before he broke out this year, he was one of the best 5th starters in the league. Jon had 12 win seasons in his time, and posted a decent ERA. Joe Borchard has never even looked somewhat adequate for the major leagues. Garland posting something around a 4.5 ERA would be like a young hitter hitting around .250, nothing spectacular but pretty good for a young guy. Joe Borchard hasn't even approached anything that anyone could consider decent.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) So the Jays payroll can be 60 mill higher 2 years from now??? Does that sound fishy to anyone else. No, that's 60 million Canadian. It's only about 43 bucks here.
  16. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Please .... no Joe Borchard. Him striking out three times agame is not what this team is supposed to be built around. You can't move a runner over when your hitting air. Unless you hit the air so hard that the gust of wind throws the ball into the OF, or over the fence if we're lucky.
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) Do you have to ask? Remember the crackhead in Boyz in the Hood? I never saw that, but if it's the same thing from Don't Be A Menace, then I know what you mean. I got these cheeseburgers...
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 05:06 AM) You are missing my point. For some reason, he has started hitting the ball. Has he finally shortened his swing and learned to drive the ball where it's pitched? I don't know if this is the case, but you don't know that it's not. Hence, my reference to KW and the scouting staff. Last year, he sucked as a ML ballplayer, yes. I'll give you that. Will he suck the rest of this year? Neither of us knows that. He does this every single year. Joe Borchard will never be good, and I don't need a crystal ball to see that.
  19. Let's score a lot of runs, and I mean a lot. Make the Indians our b****es and let them know once and for all that the Central is ours.
  20. I'M BORED! MAKE A TRADE NOW, KW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's true, the waiting really is the hardest part. I just know he's gonna make a trade while I'm 1,000 miles away this weekend, when I've been waiting forever for one to happen.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) What do you mean how so?? We could have got more for Durham then just Adkins. As far as Olivo he did help us get Freddy and it's not like Miguel was bad when he was here. Unless you count calling a game
  22. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Wow Eric Brynes, as much as I loved watching that guy play I am glad to see him leave. He always gave the White Sox trouble. I would love to have him instead of Timo. Now he's on the Rockies...poor bastard. Nobody deserves that, especially a guy with actual talent.
  23. I feel sorry for the guy, to be honest. I can't help but feel bad when I see him. Anyway, where does he get the money to buy Cub tickets?
  24. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) http://minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/ev...mes.jsp?mc=_sou While you are dreaming that the Marlins will trade you Burnett for reasons that defy logic check out your AA all-stars. 6 Barons made the team. There must be a logical reason if all of these reports are right and we're going after him harder than any other team.
  25. QUOTE(mwolfson @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Here are some guys by position I would think would proudly represent their country RF: Gary Sheffield Um, to quote Gary Sheffield: "My season is when I get paid," Sheffield told the New York Daily News. "I'm not doing that. ... I'm not sacrificing my body or taking a chance on an injury for something that's made up." And I also don't see a guy like Barry Bonds, a.k.a. the most selfish player in baseball history to whom everybody and everything is racist, going out to proudly represent his country.
