  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) I don't know, Todd seems like the kind of person they need to rub people out. Um, Mike?
  2. The crazy part is that both Jesse and Walt reiterated that nobody could ever know that they were there. The guy was basically following orders, so you know that Jesse at least will have a tough time dealing with it. The wave first was very disturbing though.
  3. War crimes, schwar crimes. If any people in the history of the world earned what they got, it was the Germans and Japanese during WWII.
  4. She shot him with the same guns she used to shoot a hole into a stack of cars and rubble. What the f*** else do you need to believe that is enough to kill him?
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) JIM BOWDEN ‏@JimBowdenESPNxm Jayson Stark of ESPN reported that Marlins had deal in place to send Carlos Lee to Yankees....but Lee would not waive his no-trade rights The man is truly dedicated to winning.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 11:07 PM) If I was a baseball manager I'd fail just like Ozzie, cause I'd go with the guy (for a long long time) that the GM and owner acquired for me in the offseason. I mean ultimately I think what Ozzie told Bell in that meeting is true: "We are not gonna win without you as closer." I find it pretty wild that the owner and GM wanted Bell demoted since they and their scouts wanted Bell in the first place. But I'd stick with the hi paid acquisition a long time and deal with the fallout in the offseason if the rotten closer didn't get me fired first. Somebody mentioned Ozzie to the Royals. That actually is just what KC needs. KC has a pathetic team and starting today (Chiefs training camp) will not again draw more than 20,000 for a game. KC could use a loudmouth like Ozzie to steal the headlines for a while. KC can't win anyway; might as well have the sideshow. KC is too cheap to pay for a name manager, however. Oh well, forgive my ramblings. GO SOX. Why can't people admit mistakes and make necessary changes, in your mind?
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2657293:date=Jul 25, 2012 -> 10:50 PM:name=Quinarvy)-->QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 10:50 PM) <!--quotec-->Is it terrible that this made me think of Futurama and "death by snoo-snoo" Seconded. Awesome.
  8. They played The Jeffersons theme song at the game today. It felt ill-timed.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) Milk, what kind of police officer are you? Do you drive a squad car daily? Or do u do investigations or what? Is Chicago a horrific place to live right now crime wise? I read about all the murders. Is working the West side and Southwest side of town amazingly dangerous? I'm County, and on patrol now. I live in the city. Crime is always around, not sure how to answer that.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:31 AM) Oh. Hey Milk, did you see the quote from the police chief how the police were "very mad" that the lowlife booby trapped his own apartment, ostensibly to kill cops who tried to get in the apartment. As an officer, would you also be pissed at the subject for this? I found that interesting that the cops were really hacked off. Yes, Greg. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Yeah but if he killed one of your loved ones and you saw him unarmed you might definitely want to take your chances and rough the bastard up. I think real rage might take over as it should. If you were to kill him in the parking lot in the scenario you lay out, you'd likely end up getting charged with 2nd degree murder. You'd serve jail time, but not as much as 1st.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:28 AM) That makes sense, but I still think it's unfair that I'd get charged and convicted of a crime for just beating the crap out of a punk (and holding him for the cops) of a guy who could have killed me. Maybe I'd need a good lawyer and another pussified jury afraid to put anybody away. There's also a chance you'd get away with it scot-free, or just a slap on the wrists. It's a crap shoot.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:26 AM) As a civilian who came across this scumbag, you don't have handcuffs or anything to work with. So wouldn't it be assumed you might have to pound the prick into submission to hold him for the police? I don't see why a guy who got shot at in a theatre could get in trouble for inflicting some damage on the person who did this! It all depends on his actions at the time you try to detain him.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 10:23 AM) I agree with your second paragraph. Besides if I just beat the s*** out of the low-life punk like a regular bar fight in which one guy pummels the crap out of another, what is the most I could get? I mean I'm beating the hell out of a guy who just killed 12 people and put my life in danger when I was in the theatre. It'd take an OJ jury or Casey Anthony jury to put me away for beating up such a lowlife punk. Wouldn't police applaud me for beating the piss out of such a coward? Depending on what you did to him, attempted murder or aggravated attempted murder. More likely it would just be a simple battery if you didn't really f*** the guy up, and you'd never see jail time.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:36 AM) The civilian hurdle may be that low, but the police hurdle isn't. Yes. The person would definitely be charged, but it would probably get changed to a lesser charge in court.

  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) Police officers should, and do, have a lot more latitude when making split second decisions. I obviously agree. I just don't get what ss2k5 was insinuating.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 06:21 PM) Comparing Zimmerman to a police officer is just not right. Yeah, I'm not sure what he was even getting at either.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) It definitely led to an increased militarization and expansion of SWAT teams. But the point there is that all of these people, including sitting US Senators, saying that one Brave Man with a concealed handgun could have stopped this guy are just being pretty damn naive. It's also not impossible for one person to have been able to stop it either. Odds are against it, but it could definitely have made a difference.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) Very large exaggeration. If a cop comes up on a call like this one, and someone points a gun at them, they would be absolutely and legally justified in firing at them. Apparently that didn't happen here, or else the guy would be ridden with many extra holes. You keep beating me to the punch.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) Police aren't allowed a margin of error. It's like if someone points a fake or empty gun at a cop, they are suppose to wait to be gunned down before they can react. No, in that situation your department will back you to the fullest. 99/100 times you'll be found to have acted correctly. The public and media might (likely would) crucify you, though.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Said that before, people don't realize it. Also, some of the people here talking about how easy it would be to shoot the guy in a dark theater are deluded by Hollywood. Ain't that easy. And go greg775... If the cops got there and the guy is just standing there, and he complies with orders to stand down, they'd be in very deep s*** if they shot him. What he said. And yeah, accuracy in active shooting situations is startlingly low (you wouldn't even believe the estimates).
