  1. We'll need to score plenty of runs to win today. I fully expect Contreras to give up between 5-7 runs in about 4 or 5 innings.
  2. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) I just saw Batman Begins last night. Very entertaining movie except for one big plothole for me. SPOILER alert When Ra's Al Ghoul and the League of Shadows turns on that water vaporizing machine to enact Scarecrow's toxins in the water -- well, human beings are 70% water. If this machine would vaporize water molecules, then why didn't everybody in Gotham including the League of Shadows explode under the huge pressure? I think they said something about the wave being concentrated. Plus, it was inside the metal pipes. If that doesn't explain it, I guess you just have to roll with it.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Thats exactly what he said I know, I'm pretty much agreeing with him while laughing at the other comment. Yeah, I now realize it looks wrong.
  4. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) check up on your chisox minor league history, cotts came from oakland, jenks from anaheim, garland from cubs, and politte was already a mlb veteran when the sox got him from toronto. only buerhle is the true homegrown outa that bunch Hahahahahaha. Jenks was in our minors for like half a year, and Politte was never ever in our minors.
  5. WTF? I thought Arizona wanted him?
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) I think your right on the no trade clause. I think the Sox tried to get him a few times the past couple years with the deals always falling through for one reason or another. However, I also think he's from the Chicago area (maybe I'm wrong) and would consider it with the Sox winning. He could play 1st or DH or OF and would provide left handed pop. But I still don't know how the Sox make room. The has to be a reason he has a no-trade clause for here. I doubt he'd want to come here just because he was born here if he has that clause.
  7. If we were to get Griffey, he should ONLY DH.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Cliff Floyd has always been a guy that Kenny has liked. If I'm not mistaken, Cliff Floyd has a no-trade clause that specifically prevents him from being traded to the Sox, among other teams.
  9. If we're going to get Kline or Embree, I'll be pissed.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) ive been hating on PK for the last 2-3 years. That may be, but my dad can beat up your dad.
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) - Is confident that with the current team they can go all the way. Did he giggle when he said that?
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) I know it's not gramatically correct. I spelled pussy the way Ozzie would. "Paulie is a Pussy Posse". There, is that better? Anyway, he's still a pussy. Put me in your club, cas I hate PK. You certainly meet our qualifications. BTW, I was just kidding about the grammar thing We're all friends in this club.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) - Widger playing instead of AJP, when everyone knows Contreras is better with AJP, and Arroyo is so much tougher on righties than lefties. Oh, God. My blood actually ran cold for a second when I read that. I thought you meant he was really starting. If Widger was catching a game for Contreras against the Red Sox in a sort of big game, I wouldn't watch it.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) Can you change the name to the "Paulie's is a Poosy Posee"?? I've been sick of PK for the longest. Get his ass of this team quick. Sorry, the name stays the same. Yours just doesn't get the point across well enough, plus it's not grammatically correct. And sorry again, but I've been sick of PK for longer. That is my distinction.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) I'd rather play the A's as the Wild Card instead of the Yankees. I think we can shut down the A's line-up, and you know the Yankees will pick up some key parts. If we were to play the A's in the playoffs, I'd seriously consider tying my arms and legs to a chair and drugging myself up. That way I'd prevent myself from breaking anything and/or killing myself.
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) The only thing that matters is being one of the four playoff teams and then anything can happen. I think the WhiteSox are in a great position to be there! If the offense was not WS caliber then could you please explain why Vegas odds have us favored to win the AL? The one thing that gets me extremely excited about the playoffs (if we make them, not getting ahead of myself) is that we'll be playing in cold weather again. That'll make it easier to get by on better pitching and worse offense. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I feel a little better now.
  17. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I'm willing to bet other teams have struggled more than us. I mean 6 out of 96 games isn't anything to worry about. In a 162 game season, you have ups and downs. The pitching has still been good and that settles me down. No doubt about the pitching. The hitting just frustrates the hell out of me. It's really, really bad. Maybe it just seems worse than it is to me, but it's definitely not good.
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) I don't know. Not gonna take the time to look all that up. You wondered about us. I wondered about us in comparison to other teams.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Watch closer. Sox have only had 4 or less hits in only 6 games out of 96. Won 2-1 vs. Seattle and a 2-1 win vs. KC. 2-0 loss to Cubs, 6-2 loss to Oakland, 10-1 loss to Oakland, 7-1 loss to Detroit. How many do other teams have, though?
  20. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) It sucks though, that it had to come on a night when the offense couldn't do ANYTHING right. He's only got so many bullets left (who knows how old he REALLY is), I hope it's a good sign that he'll be healthy down the stretch and not an anomaly. Things are just evening out for him. He won games earlier in the year where he had no business not losing.
  21. Rowand's fine. You know who really sucks? Mike Caruso.
  22. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Can't argue with that logic. I don't give a rat's ass if you believe it or not. I watch every game and I see us get 4 hits or less a lot. Our offense sucks and our pitching is great. I stated something that I believe from watching them play, not something for which I scrupulously looked up stats. I didn't say, "here, this is fact. Accept it!" It's a conclusion I came to on my own.
  23. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) man on fire - awesome, awesome flick. Most disappointing ending to a movie I've ever seen, probably. It was so disappointing because the rest of the movie was so damn good, then it just pissed me off to no end. I went with a few college buddies and we were loving the "payback action" throughout the movie. As soon as the credits began rolling, I said out loud because I was so confused, "That's how it ends?!" About ten other people in the theater looked back and shrugged in agreement. Anywho, saw Wedding Crashers with my girlfriend last weekend. It was funny, but would've been better without her there because I had to not laugh at certain parts because her best friend is just like the redhead in the movie...a psycho. Brought my little brother and sister to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday, it was much better than I expected. It kept me entertained the entire time.
