  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Duque's looking sharper now. Just no more fastballs down the cock to Manny, and he might have a chance to give up less than 4 runs tonight. At some point, he's going to have to face Ortiz and Manny again. I'll decide how well he's doing if he can get through those two without giving up much more.
  2. Who was that one bench coach we had that was supposed to be the best sign stealer in the game? He retired a few years ago because of heart problems or something.
  3. f*** you, Timo. He looked like a 12-year-old girl there. f***ing pitiful.
  4. I hope this second base ump gets hit by a car tonight. I honestly would like him to be hit by a car.
  5. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Duque finally had himself an easy inning!!! Lightning has struck! Uh oh, lightning never strikes in the same place twice... I f***ING HATE STRETCH. I'm so close to muting the game just because of that call.
  6. Over/under for how many outs we throw away today is 5.
  7. When you throw away outs to the Red Sox, YOU LOSE.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) I don't know why Contreras is the pitcher we're trying to replace, when Duque is the obvious liability in the rotation. Screw his playoff experience....I don't want him close to the mound if we make the postseason. I've already said I'd rather get rid of Duque. The guy isn't good anymore. He'll suck in the playoffs just like he's sucking in the regular season. I don't wanna hear how unhittable he is in the postseason because he hasn't been like that for years.
  9. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) I strongly doubt it. He's on that Wagner/Philly type of deal. They don't want to trade him, but they will if someone overpays. Schmidt is going to take a big overpayment. Might as well keep Duque with the season Schmidt is having. Not that good of one if you don't know. If it was the Schmidt of year's past, then I'd say yes, go after him because I'm leery of Burnett, but we're talking about a different Schmidt. Gee, I didn't know he was having a bad season. I haven't seen a hundred posts pointing that out. I'd just like to tell you that he's 5-2 in his last 7 starts with an ERA around 2.7 or something like that. He's gotten his stuff back, minus a little velocity. He's better than Burnett, Contreras, and Duque. You probably disagree, but I don't care. Nobody's changing my mind on this subject.
  10. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) Schmidt is also worse than Burnett and Contreras this year. The whole point of a deal is to better our chances this year. SF wants to major league pitchers(keyword being major) for Schmidt. I'm not willing to do that at all. That asking price will go down, much like Burnett's has.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) I hear you. I'm 100 pct serious when I stated the other day that I wished KW would just get the f*** away from talking to the Marlins. I'd much rather have Schmidt, and I mean much. I'll take Burnett, just as long as it doesn't cost too much. This matters because I'm now the GM, of course.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Hey buddy, I'll call your bluff. You'd be watching every second of every game possible! Yeah, you're probably right. I'd watch if they had a fire sale, but man will I be pissed if we get ripped off for Burnett. He's hardly a sure thing, and I wouldn't weaken our starting pitching, bullpen, and give up a great prospect for him. KW's not that big of an ass...I hope
  13. If that trade happened, I would probably watch half the games the rest of the year at most. That's just way too s***ty of a trade.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) They have this year pal. If you say so, buddy.
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) He's been healthy all year. Chill out. His bad luck is over. I'm convinced. BWAHAHAHAHAHA His troubles won't just go away.
  16. Just glad he's not on the Twins. Ha, maybe they'll get Sean Burroughs?
  17. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) Old news. Odalis also got shelled in the playoffs last year. I know it was against St. Louis, but an "ace" shouldn't get rocked like that. I'm intrigued by Jeff Weaver since he'll be cheaper and probably a good 4th/5th starter. Odalis Perez wouldn't even be the 3rd best starter on this team. Odalis Perez is a better 4th/5th starter option than Jeff Weaver.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Getting rid of Ponson helps your pitching not hurt it. Not when they have nobody else to pitch. Sure it's good if they make another move soon, but it looks bad as it is now. That's what I said in the other thread. Still, right now their pitching is even weaker even though they only got rid of Ponson.
  19. In retrospect, that play was hilarious. Konerko wasn't even in the picture when Mirabelli caught that ball. He probably wasn't even halfway home when the ball got there.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) Wow, instead of getting a lefty reliever in T. Miller, the Orioles get Phil Nevin instead. Pretty good trade for the Orioles if you ask me. If you consider making their pitching even worse to be good. I know Ponson isn't good, but they have absolutely no pitching. They're now just trying to slug their way into the playoffs with Nevin. They're the Texas Rangers of the AL East now. That just doesn't work.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) for Phil Nevin, I just read. Sounds like an awful trade for the Padres. If the Orioles are giving up pitching, even though it's s***ty Sidney Ponson, they must have something going on to get a starter. Maybe this is opening up for them to get Burnet or Schmidt or something?
  22. Well, they're gonna score again. Time to go to the movies. f*** you, Cora.
  23. I had to sign on just to say that Joey Cora needs to be fired. s***can his ass.
