  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Yah, Schmidt knows how to locate his pitches to the tune of a 4.80 ERA in a PITCHERS league in a PITCHERS park. I can't believe what I'm reading tonight. its amazing. Give it up and stop looking at stats for this year that are completely different from career stats (for both pitchers, might I add). Schmidt >>> Contreras End of story.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) And you are nuts. Jose has pitched 10 times better than Schmidt this year, and it's not really even close. Schmidt's rounding back into form, and he's so insanely better than Contreras that it's...well...insane. Schmidt will finish out this year better than the Count, and I can only hope he does so playing for the White Sox. And you can go ahead and come up with whatever argument you want to try to prove that Contreras is better than Schmidt, but you'll be wrong.
  3. I hadn't realized that Schmidt is 4-2 with a 2.77 ERA in his last 6 starts. I want him and Vizquel so badly. Honestly, I would kill to get them. Ok, maybe not kill, but I'd be really, really mean to someone to get them.
  4. The more I think about Contreras, the more I dislike him. I don't like anything about the guy. Can't stand to watch him pitch, can't stand how he wastes his talent, can hardly stand to think about him pitching (especially in a game with any pressure). Since he's been in the league, he's been a piece of work. He signed a contract with the Yankees while staying in a room paid for by the Red Sox. Struggles, then is reunited with his family...continues to struggle. Moves to a basically pressure-free team and struggles. Hasn't learned how to pitch in 40 years on earth, but somehow makes like 8 million dollars a year. Escapes from Castro's communist regime, but somehow still lacks balls. I can't even force myself to like this guy, even though I still wish he'd do well. But, I wish even more that he'll be traded for someone that will help us more. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
  5. Don't look now, but we have 2 hits. This is like a weekly thing, at least we win a lot of them.
  6. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Tyson Curry? I don't watch or like basketball, but sure. That's probably the same deal.
  7. The Cubans are a problem. Why couldn't they be one pitcher name Jolando Contrandez. A guy with balls that knows how to pitch with talent. The talent coming from Contreras and the balls/knowledge coming from Duque. Unfortunately, we have two half pitchers.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) What a f***ing loser. On a team with such an amazing record this year, our W-L record when Contreras pitches is shockingly bad. Ozzie is leaving him in to die now. I stand by my reasoning that the team doesn't play as well when he pitches. Maybe they just don't feel like they have as good a chance to win as other days. However you wanna say it, there's another run on this loser.
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) He's only given up 2 runs in close to 6 innings. That's not bad. He's given up 5 runs in this game, let's not sugarcoat it.
  10. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) It seems to me that JC is a guy who doesn't pitch as well in close games. We need to find a way to get this guy early leads. Unfortunately this team has been unable to do that. Hence a 5-5 mark for JC I call it irony. The guys sucks all of last year, having offenses carry him to a winning record. This year he pitches well for the most part, and he can't win. Things just even out.
  11. Great play by Uribe. Damn, if only Contreras pitched over that mistake earlier. He'd be looking great right now.
  12. Fair-weather fans out in force according to those gasps from Thomas' clear pop out.
  13. That's what's wrong with Contreras. Guy strikes out 4 of the first 5 guys he sees, somehow gives up a 3-run homer.
  14. This is the kind of thing that makes you look at an athlete or anyone famous that seems "evil" or just a jerk, and see that they're just as human as you or I. As much as we might not like them, there's still a damn good chance that they're still a good person.
  15. It sucks that Wagner is going to end up on the Red Sox. About a month ago, I was having an argument with a Red Sox fan who's a friend of mine. I was saying that Wagner is easily one of the top 5 closers in baseball, whereas he said he wasn't even in the top 10 (citing "better" closers such as Nathan and both Corderos, though Chad is definitely in the top 10, too). Now, his spoiled team will land the closer that he was disrespecting and he'll rub it in my face. Sometimes life is unfair.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) More likely to the Twins for Romero. They just got rid of Embree also. The Bosox are in movement now. Great, now I have to hate Graffanino. When did they get rid of Embree? If it was before today, I'm surprised I haven't heard about it from at least one of my friends.
  17. He's the tallest midget on the Twins. Let's leave it at that.
  18. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Gload is a defensive upgrade from Konerko. There you go
  19. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) take out 1/4 of his outtings and his era is drastically lower. Oh, come on. Take away 1/4 of his outings?! Really, I can understand saying "take away 1 outing," but 1/4? Take away a fourth of almost any pitcher's outings, and they'll probably look good.
  20. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) There was as short blurb on espn1000 about the possibility of this trade. They also mentioned some minor league infielder from Boston to the Twinkies instead of Mueller. Not Youklis... can't remember the name. Ramirez or Pedroia (sp) maybe?
