  1. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Wow Eric Brynes, as much as I loved watching that guy play I am glad to see him leave. He always gave the White Sox trouble. I would love to have him instead of Timo. Now he's on the Rockies...poor bastard. Nobody deserves that, especially a guy with actual talent.
  2. I feel sorry for the guy, to be honest. I can't help but feel bad when I see him. Anyway, where does he get the money to buy Cub tickets?
  3. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) http://minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/ev...mes.jsp?mc=_sou While you are dreaming that the Marlins will trade you Burnett for reasons that defy logic check out your AA all-stars. 6 Barons made the team. There must be a logical reason if all of these reports are right and we're going after him harder than any other team.
  4. QUOTE(mwolfson @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Here are some guys by position I would think would proudly represent their country RF: Gary Sheffield Um, to quote Gary Sheffield: "My season is when I get paid," Sheffield told the New York Daily News. "I'm not doing that. ... I'm not sacrificing my body or taking a chance on an injury for something that's made up." And I also don't see a guy like Barry Bonds, a.k.a. the most selfish player in baseball history to whom everybody and everything is racist, going out to proudly represent his country.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) That would be much more intelligent and less childish. Childish schmildish. My comparison is 100% perfect. There is not one flaw in it.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) My question is. Did it really need to be said. It seemed like a lot of people weren't getting it, so I had to clear the air.
  7. If you are easily offended, don't read below. They both suck huge dick.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Im with you Milkman, the suspension is killing me. Smokin' in the boys' room?
  9. Damn it, KW better make a move today or tomorrow. Without any games on, I have nothing at all to talk about all day long at work. Get your ass in gear, KW.
  10. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) "Yeah baby, come back to my refrigerator box for some Cubbie Kool-Aid at 8, don't WOO! be WOO! late! WOO!" In his defense, it's a Maytag box. Those make the Frigidaire boxes look like s***.
  11. I thought any Borchard talk was finally dead. This guy is an absolute bust. Think of any definition of bust, and he fits the description. I hardly consider a .250 average in the minors to be tearing the cover off the ball. That equates to about a .180 average in the majors, just like every other time he came up.
  12. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) WE would have the MLB record for most AJs on one team!! That's precisely why we can't get Burnett. It's a physical impossibility to have to AJs on one team. How many AJs are there on Earth? Like 12, and they can never be in the same room at the same time or else their heads will explode. Then what do we have? Two headless players, and that's just useless and a waste of money and prospects. I don't make the rules of physics, people. I just follow them.
  13. Um, not to seem crude, but those are some huge nipples.
  14. Wickman sucks and Nathas seems to be a one year wonder. It's not very surprising to me.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) Good Mexican food is very big business. They do a lot of catering, the meat packing company my father worked for (Ampac) in the late 60's was one of their very first catering jobs. By the way, the old location on 35th between Halsted and Emerald ... it's being taken over by one of the nieces, she and her husband will be opening a chicken wing place there. I think it's Gabe's daughter that's opening it, actually. But I could be wrong, I'm really not that sure. I've been by there a few times, I'll have to try it once.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Yes, Gabe is one of the brothers, there are 3. Ralph is the guy who's almost always there, wears glasses. I hardly ever go in there, mostly just order out. Gabe lives near me, though. The guy's house is huge.
  17. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) I wouldn't call them ghosts, but I do believe in that people's spirits can remain around. Shortly after my grandpa died (early from cancer) my grandma went upstairs and turned off the light in his bedroom (they always had the Ozzie and Harriet separate rooms). About 15 minutes later she noticed it was on again, so she turned it off. This happened about 3 times. So, she finally turned it off and unplugged it. Well, 15 minutes later it was on again, despite being unplugged. Weird. Also, after my grandma died the grandfather clock in her house would stop at the exact time the coroner put the time of death at. After we moved it out of that house it never did it again. There's been some other weird stuff like that. Dreams, apparitions too, mostly on that side of the family. But I do think the spirits hang around for a while afterwards. Like you, I've heard way too many stories from people I actually know to not believe in ghosts, spirits, etc. Anyone ever get a feeling like someone is standing right behind them? Everyone sees something out of the corner of their eye once in a while that can be attributed to a flash of light or something along those lines. But about a week ago I was looking through the freezer in basement for something to eat, and I swear it felt like someone was right behind me a little to the right. I turned my head quick and there was nothing there, but it reminded me of the new Amityville Horror. If anyone's seen it, I'm talking about the part where the kid goes to the bathroom at night.
  18. Ditka and this whole deal are making my job a pain in the ass. I work for the city, so I'm constantly getting complaints about this. It seems that people are specifically pissed off at Ditka.
  19. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) This at Prosportsdaily.com interesting... I've never seen that rumor before It seriously gets better every time I read it though.
  20. QUOTE(innersanctum @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) Who do you think should be on the World Cup team? Take out the fact of the timing of the tournament and just factor in who you would like to see playing in those games that will make you want to watch it. To keep it simple, let's just do the American team. I'd start with pretty much the Rangers' IF, minus Soriano of course. Probably have to be Roberts at 2nd. Ahh, it would just be the AS teams combined without the foreign guys.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) They haven't changed management, still the same family, same people. Raphael (Ralph), his wife, his dad, etc. Have known them since the late 60's. Agree on the quality. Do yourself a favor, try the pork stew burrito, no lettuce no tomato, cheese, etc. Just the meat and the beans. If we ever meet at a game I will buy you one. Love that place, my dad took me there shortly after it opened in 1968. Oh, I've had it all, my friend. It's delicious, but so is everything else. I thought a guy named Gabe owned it? I forget his last name, but he lives not too far from me.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) They've also catered in Mexican food from Tacos Erendira at 32nd and Halsted, quite possibly the best Mexican place on the south side. That food has stayed great even after moving and changing management. I get it about once a week, and it's f'n awesome. Flautas are the way to go. Oh man, now I'm hungry and at work... :banghead
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Tejada. His prizes: A trophy, a car, and a night with Jeanie Zelasko. "Hey rich guy, here's a car that you could afford with the change in your pocket. Enjoy!"
  24. QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) If only that fat POS rodriguez could've put some wood on the ball, Pods would've had an at bat. Francona is a jag Give Francona a break, he was going to let Pods hit. That's better that just pinch running. He was in the game, drop it already.
  25. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) could have sworn it was 2 3 IP for Sox pitchers. There's a period after win.
