QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) My opinion is that people who speculate that current players are jucing up during the testing era are dopes. In fact, I meant to say stronger but my new leaf of civility is currently turned over. Well, I think you're a dope for believing they can't be juicing.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) There's a difference. Abreu has always had HR power. Sosa was a scrawny guy when with the White Sox and Rangers(I've even seen Cubs fans admit this). Abreu looks more natural than Sosa ever will. Ok, you're right. He could never have gone on steroids before he got into the major leagues.
-
If Sosa had done this, people would be up in arms. Nobody dislikes Abreu, thus no one accuses him. I like Abreu, too, but I'm still going to call it like I see it. And there must be ways to get around this testing policy. The NFL policy is much more strict, and players get away with it there. I don't think it's much of a coincidence that only small fish have been caught so far. As long as a player has the money, such as the star players, they can stay ahead of the system.

OT: Didn't Lance Armstrong divorce his wife after overcoming cancer when she stuck with him through the whole ordeal?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) The ending was horrible, and the acting was worse. I kept having people tell me how great the ending was and how you would never guess it. Well of course you couldn't figure it out because it didn't make any sense. I HATED that movie more than I have hated a movie in a long time. Thank you! It wasn't a twist ending because you had absolutely no way of figuring out who the killer was. I swear to God, it's just like Scream 2 where *Spoiler, I guess if you haven't seen this in the 10 years it's been out* the f'n sister from Roseanne is the killer after she was in the movie for no more than 1 minute. That's not a twist, that's s***ty writing. Why didn't they just make the killer be Freddy Krueger instead? He wasn't in the movie either.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) well there is no way to convince a few dopes at their computers then I guess. Haha, this steroid policy is really strict. Nobody can get around it at all. And you probably shouldn't go around calling people dopes when you just might not be smarter than them.

QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) abreau was just on a roll. it happens. just because a player is in the zone doesn't mean he's juiced. You could say the same for Sosa in every derby he was in.

QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) It thought so too, but look at all the pitched he took. That's a lot of time that he sort of could relax. Seemed like after just about every homer he took at least one pitch. Having played baseball before, you actually do get tired pretty fast by just standing in the box and swinging at pitches thrown to you in rapid fire succession. I think he was able to hit so many homers because he took so many pitches. Didn't Sosa take pitches between homers, too? It seems like every one of them was taking pitches between swings. And just about every one of his homers was an absolute bomb. There weren't many that barely got over the fence.
-
I wouldn't let Abreu off the hook. 24 homers in the first round?! Damn, Sosa did less than that and he was dead by the final round...but Abreu hit another 11 in the finals. That's just too fishy to me.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) You are one person who likes to look at the long term and career when judging a player. Kenny is a player who has fought through challenges like being drafted a SS, changing to being on the mound, getting rib removed and grinding out years of pitching. He is the protypical grinder player, who hasnt had much acclaim, but goes about his job being underpaid. This incident is a small flash in the pan, and there are many players on our team now who have had bad run ins with the media including Big Frank himself. Im not saying get Kenny, but in no means is he a bad apple. Hitting a trainer in the balls is worse than pushing a camera off of a person's shoulder.

So, does anyone else now suspect Abreu of you-know-what a little after this? Jeez, that was amazing.

DE-TROIT SUCKS DE-TROIT SUCKS DE-TROIT SUCKS Ahh, this is perfect. Eat s***, Pudge. Just eat a big load of steamy s***.

I always feel bad for the last contestant that you just know is gonna lose. I can't help but feel really bad for them.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Going out on a limb i see. I'm a risk taker. It was much better earlier. He's just really out of breath from hitting constant bombs. His English>>>>>>Ozzie's English

I'm really liking Abreu's chances after that round.
-
Shouldn't Abreu get to back second as a reward for doing so well before?
-
If there is any justice in the world, Abreu will win this thing.

What the hell's wrong with Berman? He keeps saying, "this might be gone" and the ball lands about 40 rows up. He's such a terrible announcer. His homerun call is terrible, too. Back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, gone. Shut up, Chris.
-
It's gonna end up being Pudge vs. Ortiz in the final round. The two guys I hate the most and least wanted to see in the finals are gonna be there. Even the f***ing homerun derby pisses me off somehow. f*** ass s***.
-
I hate Bud Selig even more than ever. Way to let a piece of s*** steroid user like Pudge in the derby when he didn't even have double digit homers.

GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Pods, Buehrle, Garland sitting talking. Where the hell is PK? Eating a brat, hot dog, nachos, a soft pretzel, and drinking a few beers and cups of gravy while he's probably talking to Yankee players about their plans next year.

Boone to Minnesota (Official)

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Why would he replace Willie Harris as the starting 2B??? 1) Willie Harris is not a starting 2b 2) Willie Harris is not THE starting 2b for Boone to steal his job 3) Willie Harris blows 4) Tadahito Iguchi IS the starting 2b 5) Bret Boone 6) Bret Boone > Willie Harris therefore, if we traded a PTBNL for Boone as the backup 2b, it would have been a good deal. I think he's saying that Willie Harris is comparable to the crappy 2B's on the Twins. Like imagine if we didn't have Iguchi and Willie was our starter. -
Do these kids' parents have to pay for them to be out there, or are they like Little League kids that somehow got picked or something?
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) Yeah, I think a kid stole a HR from Jones lol! Don't they tell these stupid little rich kids that they can't touch those kinds of hits?
