  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Well, most recent Phil Rogers column says it would be Contreras, Marte, and McCarthy for AJB. This would be a brutal, brutal trade for the Sox. Please say no KW! Throwing Contreras in is way too much.
  2. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) Well played. I luvvvv the Milkman, just giving you a hard time. I've heard that so many times on this board, it's great. Everyone loves the milkman. That is, unless you don't have a soul or worship satan.
  3. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Well, I was hearing these reports around 10 AM. Wait...who the hell cares, Herb! The guy heard something, he reported it...give the guy a break. He's just doing his job. Ehh, he sucks almost as much as PK
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) To his credit, he spoke a lot of "Within the next 24 hours" talk. So, we can't call bulls*** on him just yet. I know a lot of you are chomping at the bit...but just hang loose. Do trades ever happen in the dead of night? Not being sarcastic, just wondering. He said it this morning, so 24 hours means it has to happen tonight or really, really early.
  5. Welp, Neifi Perez hit a grandslam. That's f***ing pathetic.
  6. So unless they make a trade in the middle of the night, Levine was wrong? Not surprising...
  7. Damn, now let's hope for a walk-off.
  8. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) The Northsiders just got bent over. Anyone else watching the national game on ESPN? Wow. Bad call goes to the Cards on the "safe" call at second on Luna's steal. Yeah, I'm watching it. It's hilarious...they're falling apart right in front of my eyes.
  9. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) Yes sir. I have no idea what this kid is doing. Being a piece of s***, maybe?
  10. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) what about Pods then? What about Burnett? Aren't you the one that just started that other thread?
  11. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) Not quite... but his contract makes him a far worse gamble... ...and anyone who would flame me for fact is a moron... Just saying. JR has apparently said he'll spend more this season. I don't know if it's true, but I'm sure somebody would have pointed it out.
  12. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Dude I was way ahead of you. I said to myself if I come back & say .. you're insane .. you could then go back & use real stats in favor of Vizquel over Uribe. So I just decided to respond to cast doubt in any NL stat you use. To expand on this compare the Sag's NPERA lists for 05-04 in AL & 05-04 in NL. There is great improvement in the AL & a significant decline in the NL. I blame Ozzie for Uribe underperforming. He put up the great numbers warranting the big contract hitting #2 in the lineup. Yet for whatever reason Ozzie choose to hit him 9th where he never accomplished much. I believe strongly that order in lineup can greatly impact a guy's numbers. Once a guy overachieves in a spot it's best to leave him there. I don't know how to respond to this because I have no clue what half the stats you bring up mean. All I know is that Vizquel had success in the AL for years (last year included), and I doubt he's lost much, if anything, in the short period of time since then. Vizquel fits this team much better than a free-swinging, HR-or-bust, defensive specialist in Uribe.
  13. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) What is the deal with you guys wanting Griffey... I mean last time I checked this isn't 1998... The only way this deal makes sense for us is if we are sure that Thomas isn't going to come back... Defensively he's sure as heck not an upgrade over AROW or anyone we have. However all this talk is moot because lucky for us JR is cheap and there is no way in heck he would agree to take on that contract. Hell would freeze over first... I just don't see the Reds picking enough of it up either to even make it would while... I agree this is one of the dumber pie in the sky trade ideas you guys have come up with... I'm sure someone is going to flame you for that one. Oh, and is Griffey washed up just like Schmidt?
  14. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) I still say the Sox should go after Lugo long before they think about Vizquel.... If we could dump him after this year i'd say go for it but that third year just isn't worth it... 17 errors. 17!
  15. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) If the White Sox played in the AAAA league known as the NL. I doubt he puts up those numbers in the AL. Uh, first of all, I was making a joke. Those stats don't exist. They might as well exist, though, because there are stats for everything these days. Back in my day, we had average, homers, and RBI Second, Vizquel hasn't played in the AL and done well?
  16. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Uribe's deceptive stats: R,RBI 2004 Pre-AS 302AB 51R, 37RBI 2004 Pos-AS 200AB 31R, 37RBI 2005 Pre-AS 240AB 26R, 38RBI 2005 Pos-AS 32AB 2R, 8RBI His 2004 June & July numbers are worse than his 2005. In 2004 he really rebounded in Aug & Sep so there's reason to believe he can do it again in 2005. But here's the thing: In 2004 the bulk of his AB's were 2nd in the lineup: 260AB .285A/.846OPS Why not shake up the lineup? 1-SPods 2-Uribe 3-Iguchi 4-Dye 5-Konerko 6-Rowand 7-Everett/Thomas 8-AJ 9-Crede If you worried he'll bring down SPods look at this: 2005 RON 105AB .286A/.732OPS The thing is that Vizquel is leading the world in VORZEN/AB and QRISPIDP in away games. This makes him a better fit than any other player in baseball for the Sox.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) STFU Milkman, you know I'm kidding. I've been worried about Hermanson for a while now, but he keeps doing the job. We have plenty of other closer options on the team right now. I knew you were Hermanson scares me at times, too. I'd love to add Wagner and push Hermanson back to set-up. For all the talk of chemistry that he's said, he shouldn't care about letting Wagner close and he might even get better because of the competition.
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) 3 solo HR's in the first! Nunez, Edmonds, and Mabry, and not Grudz with a double. Oh, I thought he was hurt from the title. That would've really sucked for him and the Cubs.
  19. So, does this make it more or less likely that Burnett will go to the Jays? It might make it more likely because the Blue Jays could figure they need to get another pitcher to make up for the loss of Lilly until both he and Halladay return. It might make it less likely because they could just decide to pack it in. Either way, this probably really affects our chances of landing Burnett.
  20. Jeez, take it easy on the guy. He never posts crap and he just happened to miss today's game. I think he's done enough in his time on this board to warrant a free pass here.
  21. I keep leaving for a minute and when I come back, I see this thread has gained about 2 more pages. I instinctively think "A trade went through!" Then I realize it's 8 pages of discussion on whether Gio is better than McCarthy. You guys love your debating, I'll give you that much. BTW, they can both go to hell if it means we're better this year.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) From what I've heard, it wasn't steroids. So you're saying he's a druggy?
  23. Reynolds really built us up, too. Said how we were in every game, and kind of hinted at how we probably could've won every game. Maybe he's coming around.
  24. Soooooooooo.........just waiting here for a trade to break. Any minute now...
  25. Alright, Boone is batting .189 with a .231 OBP in 9 games for the Twins. Didn't they say he has like 10 days to prove something or he's out? Looks like he's just about out of baseball. That is, unless he goes to Tampa Bay (the graveyard for formerly good ML players).
