  1. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) He is really old so I don't know if the juice comments are completely fair but I do agree that he ends up in SD where he played before. He knows he gets the job while Loretta is out but I guess the Twins make some sense since he could start for them the rest of the year. Have you seen his career stats? Or how he bulked up mysteriously? He's one of the true poster boys for steroids.
  2. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) if they want 2 mlb level starting pitchers in return forget it. They'll probably ask for Jon G and McCarthy in return. Yea right like KW would do something sooo stupid as that. Of course they're gonna start the bidding high, and other GM's will make counter offers. I doubt they actually expect to get that much for him.
  3. I live like 5 minutes away, and it's dark out there. It's definitely going to rain at some point.
  4. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) you know I am normally right on key with Vizcaino but he's been pretty good lately so I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. I love Shingo and he's been ok lately too El duque has sucked lately but I am attributing that to his arm soreness. otherwise he can take a seat on my list along with the others formentioned. If you consider he has a 0.00 ERA in the last week, then I'd agree. Then look at his other stats. He has a 1.60 WHIP and batters are hitting .300 against him. He's been lucky as hell recently. Maybe he doesn't suck as much as he used to, but he sure does still suck. And I forgot McCarthy. I'd say Walker, but I don't even consider him a part of the team.
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) You forgot me. Haha, I'm so glad he's not in the game. He hasn't deserved it for years. Now it's time to get rid of Piazza. Beltran is only there because of name recognition. And even though this year is probably better than most, the game still has a lot of undeserving players.
  6. Shingo (even last year) Vizcaino because he flat out sucks El Duque because I'm afraid his arm will fall off at any point...and that he'll walk 4 guys and then give up a double And the two you mentioned.
  7. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) I think you undervalue Schmidt. This guy has electric stuff, and would be a welcome addition to the South Side. Sure, he's had a rough start, but to say his arm is "falling off" is just inaccurate. Jason Schmidt is a top tier starting pitcher, and any chance a team has to get him would be great. PS... he has World Series experience, and playoff experience is what this club is lacking. I think you're missing the point. Jason Schmidt has had a bad year so far, therefore his career is over.
  8. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) All I know is if he joins the team everyone will start throwing worse. We're going to look back on this as the end of the 2005 season. Maybe we can find Todd Ritche too (who more then likely has more gas in the tank then Schmidt.) Jason Schmidt will be the end of us all!
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Umm you can't leave out the guy defending his title I don't care that he's defending his title. Pujols is a much better player to sell. The guy's a better hitter and he's a saint on top of that. There's nobody better to represent the Dominican Republic. Hell, there's nobody better to represent any country.
  10. Like I said, this just proves that there is no faith in Contreras and Duque/McCarthy. If they're setting up the schedule so that they have to face the Central as little as possible, that's saying something.
  11. When does this poll end? And I wouldn't expect help from the Red Sox fans. You'll just get some s*** replies about them being the real Sox and so forth. If they've already decided to vote for Hunter, they won't be swayed.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) In the HR Derby commercial they had 4 guys. Bay-Canada Tejada-DR Carlos-Panama? Jones-Caraco? They're gonna have Tejada over Pujols? East Coast market wins yet again.
  13. Every time that we face a pitcher that's slow to the mound, I say Pods will steal a few bags. The thing is that he doesn't seem to get on base as much when he's against this type of guy, or he doesn't steal much for some reason off of them. I hope he changes it today because the offense is probably going to have to score plenty to win.
  14. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) whos in the home run derby because i cant seem to find it They said it's by country, so I can only figure a few guys. Derrek Lee - USA Carlos Lee - Panama Albert Pujols - Dominican Republic Bobby Abreu - Venezuela Ichiro Suzuki - Japan If anybody else knows more, add on. Hey, I just realized Sosa isn't on the all-star team. It's about f***in' time.
  15. More and more it sounds like nobody has faith in Contreras or Duque.
  16. Damn it, I need some more information. Sitting here wondering about this rumor and not knowing either way. I need some kind of confirmation.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) You are gonna call BS on Coppect cuz f***ing Levine said no? OK, I should rephrase it. If Coppeck is lying, I hope he gets shot in the face.
  18. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Levine says not true, goddammit, why the hell do you have to be a a-hole Chet Coppeck? Well, I hope Coppeck gets shot in the face then. Piece of s***...
  19. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) OK, one more time: why do we want this pitcher: Age: 33 Been on the DL this year A noted power pitcher who has LOST VELOCITY will cost ~$4 million for 2005 $3.5 million for 2006 to buy out will cost at least one top prospect Record: 5-3 ERA: 5.11 WHIP: 1.59 BAA: .275 and has a pitcher's park for a home park. Because he *might* be better than our other two pitchers? Because of the pitcher he *was*? Because he *might* win us a post-season game... if his arm is still attached to his body at that point? Like I said before, KW isn't a f***ing idiot. He's not going to dive into this without knowing anything.
  20. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) Bmac starts tommrow and schimdt started today maybe it will happen tuesday after they both go through the rotation. I thought it looked like McCarthy wouldn't be part of the deal.
  21. Since the rumors got so big recently, does anyone actually think it will take until the end of the week (like previously stated) for the deal to go through? I mean, if they're so close, I doubt they'd wait that long. EDIT: That is, if it's actually going to happen.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Problem is it's all just coming from Coppeck and if he's full of s*** everyone is wrong Could he just be making this up? I don't understand why he would, but then again I don't know much about Coppeck.
  23. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) Rumor has just been reported on CLTV and WGN. Thank God, I need someone to keep it alive. I refuse to give up that easily.
  24. Any way we can get Schmidt and then Burnett, too?
  25. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Also, it doesn't make sense that an Sox Board Member would know of the deal unless Uncle Jerry needs apprioval to add payroll. JR owns just a small amount, right? I would think that the board would have a lot of say in this thing.
